Chapter 11-Stocked

1440 Words
Isabella 'Ding Dong' "What the hell." Looking at my clock it was 11 at night. I didn't want to answer the door at 11 at night. Who the hell knows who that could be. 'Ding Dong' Who ever it was kept on ringing the door bell. Maybe if I just ignore whoever they will go away. 'Ding Dong' Ugh! Finding a frying pan, have you ever watched the movie tangled. Well she uses a frying pan to defend her self. It could work for me too. Holding the frying pan I stood behind my door, "Who is it?" I asked hoping they would sound friendly instead their voices were muffled. "Go away or I'm calling the cops." "Ms. Stone, we won't hurt you." The voice yelled a little louder. Sure says the man who is at my home at 11 at night and how the hell did he know my name? "Well go away." My voice had quivered but remained strong. I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of scaring me. "Mr. Saunders sent us." Wait, what! What did he say? I must be still sleeping because I recall them mentioning his name. Slowly opening the door I was met with two tall men smiling at me in colorful clothes, one wearing a mickey mouse hat and the other wearing pink flop flops with a bow on it, holding bags in their arms, "Can we come in, these bags are heavy." Sure like a girl with her son at home alone will invite a couple of men into her apartment who are oddly dressed very colorful if you ask me. Just then one man had stumbled a bit, the bag flopped forward as oranges and apples rolled on the floor. "Are you going to beat me with fruits?" I know that sounds ridiculous but nowadays people are crazy. "No," The men attempted to hold the bag upright, "Please let us in." The had sounded pitiful as they continue to hold the bags in their arms. You'd think for two tall strong men they would be able to handle bags in their arms without it falling. How do they think us women do it? Opening the door I had let them in. I don't know what in the right mind I would even think to invite them in but here they are, setting the bags on my counter as they had opened my fridge and cabinets, I watch them put food, lots of food in their respective places. I'm sure if they wanted to kill me they'd probably force their way in. My eyes widen, milk. tomatoes, four boxes of cereal and other snacks. "Sorry Mr. Saunders didn't know what kind of cereal the kid eats so he had bought several." He is one years old and doesn't eat breakfast cereal yet is what I wanted to say but kept my mouth shut. Mr. Saunders. My stomach was now growling as I had seen steak now in my freezer and salmon. Oh my god, food! Why does this feel like Christmas. I could even almost feel myself salivating at the sight. "Interesting outfits." "Mr.Saunders idea. Thought if we came here in black suits you'd scream bloody murder and we didn't want to frighten the kid." They began to scour my small apartment. So the man does think once in a while. "He is asleep at 11 at night." I replied though they hadn't ask. "Okay then now we look foolish." All I did was eyed them up and down agreeing with them. One of the man then brought out a fully cook rotisserie chicken. "He thought you might be hungry." The man winked at me. "Oh and this is for you?" The other man set down a brand new lap top that was still in its box and a cell phone as well. "Take it back." The two men gawked at me, "But Ms. Stone..." "No, I don't need it. If he thinks we are some kind of charity case then I don't want those things." I may be struggling at the moment but if I work hard I will get to where I want to. At least I can say that I worked hard for the things I get. My dad had taught me that hard work will pay off in the long run and if I had things handed to me on a silver platter then I won't even know the meaning of hard work being its own reward or something like that. I did learn a thing or two from my dad. Both men suddenly laughed and snickered, "These items are for company used only and for school as well. His words not ours. So if you think he is doing this to pity you that you are sadly mistaken." He was really serious of me taking online classes. Does he really want me that bad. "And the food." "Honestly he says he needs to provide for his son and his wife." One of the men teased gesturing quotation marks. My guess is these two know the truth behind all the lies, "Besides you can't deny your son Jack food now can you." Damn him! He is literally enjoying this. His probably laughing his ass off now in his probably king size bed. Suddenly the cell phone he just gave me rang revealing his number on the caller ID. "Aren't you going to answer that?" The man asked. "You think if I don't answer he'll leave me be." Finally the ringing stop only for it to ring again. With shaky hands I pressed the call button. "What the f**k took you so long?" Came his loud domineering voice. "Well uh..." "When I call I expect to be answered on the first ring." He yelled causing the two men before me to snicker. "And what if I was in the bathroom taking a dump." He had gone quiet probably imagining that little scenaro. "Then take the phone with you." He grumbled in the background. "Take it back all of it." I snapped. "Do not talk to your boss that way." "My boss? I did not agree..." "If you refuse I will have your son removed, is that what you wish." He threaten. Is he really going to use my son against me. "Fine your majesty." I mocked. He however didn't care instead he spoke, "Make sure you are ready by seven. The company car will be at your place first thing in the morning. Be there not a minute late." "I said I have school." "And I said take online classes." Can he ever be more bossy. Who the hell does he think he is? "And why are you sending your men to disturb me, do you know what time it is?" "So, what will you and your son eat in the morning. Your fridge was completely empty. Are you planning to starve the boy." I grew quiet. I was going to get him something small tomorrow. "No wonder social service wanted to take the boy away from you." If there was a blade in his hands, he'd be the first to saw my heart in half. "Fine." If he could see me right now, I'd be rolling my eyes at him. "Fine?" "Fine, sir." I mumbled. "That's better, now eat and see you tomorrow." With that he had hung up the phone. The men who were trying not to listen but was listening was also snickering of our little banter. "You two sound like an old married couple." "Shut up." After all the food was stored the men looked back at me, "Have a good night Ms. Stone and see you tomorrow bright a bushy tail at work." He laughed causing me to fume in anger. The man caught sight of my reaction, "Not our words but his." What the f**k. Before the could say anything I had slammed the door in their faces. Opening my cabinets it was stocked with all sorts of food I never even heard off. And my fridge was now full. The chicken on my counter however was calling to me. And my stomach was indeed hungry. Fuck it. Grabbing a plate I had dug into the chicken like a starve wolf scarfing the food. I don't think I even chewed. It was just so damn delicious. Only half, I only ate half and I don't remember the last time I was this full. Putting the rest away I would save it for Jack at breakfast. It was just chicken and I think that was the best meal I had ever eaten.
