Isabella
The air was different here. Not like in London. And it was busy and full of busy people always going somewhere.
Our hotel however was grand and very luxurious.
Taking our bags, I followed Mr. Saunders I mean Dylan towards the reception where he had checked in. Never mind of all the ladies that were checking him out or basically stripping him off his clothes in their minds.
And some of them had kids with them and their husband. Ladies put your eyes back in your sockets is what I wanted to yell but kept my mouth shut.
Taking the elevator to the top floor, Dylan had a penthouse here which was totally awesome. I just wish I could have brought Jack with me but I have to keep reminding myself I am here on business.
Next time, I will bring Jack every where he wants to go when he is a little older, old enough to remember.
Opening the door I was in awe. We had a kitchen, a living room there was two bed rooms that were adjoining together and a glass big window that over looked the city of New York.
My whole body was now plastered along the window just gazing at the people who looked like ants.
"Bella." A raised voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Dylan?"
"I have been calling you for the past few minutes."
"Sorry its just this is really beautiful."
Dylan smiled placing the hotel keys on the table, "One of them is yours and this." He held up a piece of paper, "This is our agenda for our time here."
Taking it out of his hand I carefully read each one. Tomorrow is the conference, the next night is the banquet, and then there is an expedition and the last day is... "There is nothing on the fourth day."
"I know. That day is when we go around the city."
My eyes widen for anticipation. "Now, I have to have a video conference in just a few hours but if you want there is that boutique I mention get yourself a dress and shoes."
"You are not coming with me?"
"Unfortunately I can't. I have to also prepare for tomorrow's conference."
Though it sadden me that he couldn't come with me, I didn't mind. I would have time just to look around without him hovering over my shoulders.
"Okay I will see you tonight."
"Be here by 6?"
"Why?"
"Dinner, I made a reservation down stairs."
Smiling I left briskly.
The hotel was big and everyone was in either dresses or suits. I looked way to under dress but Dylan didn't say anything. I wonder if he is embarrassed by my attire. After all I was just in a simple jeans and shirt. Not once had he mentioned to be in a business suit or a business dress. He seemed to not mind with what I wear.
Even when I am in his office while all his workers where in nice suits I just had a a blazer that once belong to my mother and a skirt. Actually most of what I wear to work had all belong to my mother at one point.
Looking around this boutique, the dresses here were expensive.
"Excuse me miss can I help you?" A sales associates offered.
Picking up a dress "May I try this on?"
She looked at me from head to toe, "I'm sorry but that is a five thousand dollar dress which I'm sure you can't afford." She snickered.
Five thousand dollars? Even if I can afford it, which I could if I used the company card, I would never buy a five thousand dollar dress that I'll probably only use it for one night.
Smiling I put the dress back, "Do you have anything cheaper?" I wasn't really going to buy a dress that cost more then the rent in my apartment.
"Actually the cheapest one we have here is two thousand dollars." That's the cheapest dress. Holy f**k. With a thousand dollar dress I could buy a bigger apartment. What kind of clothing store is this.
"May I see it please."
The lady only gawk at me, "Did you not hear what I said."
"Yes I did, are you implying something?"
"Well we don't serve your kind."
My kind? What did she mean my kind. "I'm sorry what do you mean." I smiled politely.
"Someone who buys her clothes from the thrift shop." She scanned my entire body while glaring at me. "And someone who is not from around here. We only serve our hotel guests and paying customers." Was it that obvious. Sure I wasn't from New York but did she have to be so rude about it.
"Very well is there another place here where they sell dresses? I need it for a party." I didn't want to cause a scene after all I represent Saunders Enterprises. What would people say if the CEO's PA is still an amateur in college.
The lady looked at me in disgust before speaking, "There is, there is a small shop in Rockefeller Center."
"And how do I get there?" Watching the lady she gave me directions. It looks so far but if I go there by train then I can be back just in time for dinner.
"Thank you." Leaving the hotel I was met with traffic, not just cars but people.
It was a bit misty yet clear, thankfully it wasn't raining. Though it was a bit chilly, maybe I should have brought a jacket. I'll just buy one later.
"Excuse me sir." I turned my attention towards a man at a stand, "Could you give me directions to the train station."
"Sure miss, go straight towards 49th avenue take a right and second left and it should be on your right."
Thanking him I headed towards the train.
All day I had to ask for directions even if the lady from early gave me her directions. It was hard to read with her sloppy handwriting. I don't even think she gave me the correct directions.
I don't know how long it took but I finally made it to Rockefeller Center. This is so not like London. There was even an ice rink. Maybe Dylan and I could come here on the last day. It looks like fun.
Going from shops to shops, the dresses where much cheaper then the ones in the hotel and the sales associates here were much friendlier.
"That will be $656.87." Pulling out the company card I handed it to the cashier where I had watched him ring me up. "Thank you for shopping with us have a nice day."
Not only did I buy dresses and shoes but I had to buy a jacket. Along with that a tie I thought would look good on Dylan. He always uses the same black tie. Doesn't he have any other color. I do hope he would like purple. Back out side I shivered, hell I was freezing. Thankfully I was able to used my jacket, who knows what night would feel.
Walking down the road the sun was now setting. "Shit." And I still had to go back to the hotel.
The streets were still busy as ever, I'm just glad I was able to find this place and not get lost.
Arriving at the train station I just realized I might be a little late for dinner.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my cell phone with me but could I still use it here in New York. I don't think so right.
Looking towards my right I saw a Pay Phone. "A pay phone." I had to call Dylan to tell him I'll be a little late.
Picking up the phone, I just realize I don't even remember the hotel.
Just then I remembered the key card of which I took from the hotel. Taking the key card out it read Omni Hotels and Resort.
Using the phone book I called the hotel, "This is Omni Hotels and Resort, how may I direct your call."
"Actually can I get Mr. Dylan Saunders room." And damn my luck I had forgotten the room number.
"One moment please."
Few seconds later I listened to the phone ring several time only to be bounce back to the operater, "It seems he is not answering his phone."
"Is it okay to leave a message."
"Sure."
"Could you tell him this is Isabella Stone and I may be late for dinner, I am still at Grand Central Terminal."
"Will do, is that all?"
"Thank you, that's it."
The lines were long at the ticket station and being it rush hour didn't help with the Grand Central Terminal now being crowded with all sorts of backgrounds.
Was I a bit worried, nah, was I scared no, was I frightened hell yes. Especially when some decided to cuss and swear and talk loudly.
Coming here in the after noon is totally different then at night.
"Hey lady." I looked up to see a very tall dark man, "You don't look like from around here."
Clutching my bags in my hands I slowly step backwards, thinking if I could out run them.
And before you know it I was knocked on the side as two men had ambushed me from the front and the back.
