Josh found a hotel and his sleep was very restless. He was lost and it was dark he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. He was searching and suddenly the floor beneath his feet gave way and he was free falling.
Josh sprung awake and breathless. Shadow jumped off the bed and Josh suddenly felt so lonely.
Tears filled his eyes and he just let them fall accepting the hurt and the pain of not having his mate with him. He laid back down in the big empty bed and cried into a pillow squeezing it close hoping against hope that it could relieve some of his pain.
He fell back to sleep after a while and then he was standing in a white room, it was so white he had to shield his eyes as they adjusted. As his eyes came back into focus he heard her humming somewhere. Her voice was so sweet to his ears. "Nicole" He said quietly and then "Nicole" a little louder and the huming stopped.
"Josh?" He heard his name
"Nicole" He said even louder moving toward the sound of her voice and as he did so he ran into a wall he could not see. Pounding on the wall wanting to break it he screamed "Nicole"
"Josh I am right here!" She sounded desparate "Why can't I see you." He could hear her voice crack with sadness.
Then the floor gave way again and he fell into nothing. He wanted to stay in the dream. He was so close to her there he could feel her. His eyes popped open and he was still in the lonely bed.
He looked up at the ceiling and he thought about her. His heart fluttered remembering the first time he saw her walking down the hallway with her big glasses on hiding who she really was. He smiled a bit thinking about when they literally ran into each other on the sidewalk. She had so overwhelmed him, he was speechless and Trenton took over. He could feel himself getting aroused just seeing her in his mind. Her beautiful smile and the way she holds herself so unknowingly perfect. She really is something special. He tossed his covers off to get ready for the day. He had a plan and he hoped he could gather everything he needed.
Nicole
She heard his voice echo in her head as she laid in bed thinking of him. She thought it was just her mind playing tricks on her.
Her Grandmother had told her that Uncle was not related to her at all but that he had kidnaped her. He had murdered her parents just to get her and keep her and all her powers to himself. Nicole wasn't so sure she bought it but she acted like she did.
Her room was her mothers room growing up and Nicole did feel a connection there. A connection to her Grandmother, her Grandfather was pretty scary but she did not feel threatened by him. Her closet was filled with more cloths that she'd had her entire life combined. Her 4 post bed was white with frilly satin sheets that she'd never pick out in a million years. There was stuffed animals along the wall on a shelf like she was 8 or something.
In the quiet of her room she could hear him. Hear him calling her name and instantly she felt aroused by it. How much her heart hurt without him there. She closed her eyes wanting to hear him again and suddenly she was in the room with him. Looking right at him. She tried to respond but he didn't seem to hear her and then she screamed as loud as she could "I am right here." He was on the other side of some invisible wall. She put her hand to match his with the wall between them and then she whispered "We will not be apart." She watched him disappeart into thin air.
She opened her eyes knowing that wasn't a dream. She was actually there with him. 'Can I go to him?' She asked her Lycan.
'We are far apart but the bond will bring us with him. Focus.' She said back, she was getting stronger inside her.
In the quiet space of her room she closed her eyes and felt the bond, felt the warmth in her hand when he touched her, she remembered his scent and how she followed it down the hallway. She closed here eyes and there he was, sleeping in some strange hotel room. Shadow meowed at her.
He was so perfect she reached out to touch him but couldn't. He opened his eyes and they were Trentons yellow eyes. "My love." She heard in her head but his lips did not move.
She smiled at him "My love." She answered.
"Where are you? We are looking for you."
"I don't know. A beautiful place where my mother used to live." She heard the door open. "I must go."
"No." Trentons eyes begged her not to go as she disappeared.
Trenton looked at the empty space where she had been and wondered how she did that. He wondered how he saw her. Frustrated he got out of bed and went over to the boxes and turned on the table light. She is at her mother's childhood home. At least it was a start.
Nicole
Nicole opened her eyes seeing her Grandmother standing over her. With a very angry look on her face. "Did you just connect with him?"
The moonlight lit up her face and Nicole could make out the lines around her mouth. Her baige silky robe just hung from her shoulders. Nicole didn't answer her. She acted like she had no idea what she was even talking about.
"Tomorrow we will take care of that mutt. He doesn't belong here." She spoke softly with a murderous tone as she reached down to caress her cheek in motherly fashion.
Nicole didn't say anything just looked back her wondering what she meant by that. It had been 2 weeks since she had been there, or saw him last. She knew that she had to get out. She watched her leave and lock the door when she was gone.
The next morning Nicole searched her room early in the morning. There had to be something here that would help her. Her mother escaped.
There was a dressing table and she sat looking at her reflection brushing her hair. She looked just like her Grandmother. It was a bit creepy since she never had a mother figure.
Frustrated she set her brush down hard and the she felt something fall on her feet. She scooted back and picked it up. The door opened behind her not giving her a chance to look at it.
"It's time my darling." Her Grandmother was more chipper this morning.
Nicole stuck it in her pocket as she stood up. "Where are we going?"
"To take care of that mutt." She turned and headed out the door.
Nicole had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach as she started following her. She had a really bad feeling about this. She didn't want to get rid of Josh. She loved him.
She walked down the hallway and saw and open window. The breeze felt good on her skin and she stopped to look out the window.
Suddenly her Lycan took over full force and jumped out the window. There were several people hot on her heals but she was faster and quickly put some distance between her and them. She he had her eye on the woods. She was running because she knew what they were going to do wasn't going to be good. He would die if they did it.
She reached the forest but didn't stop or slow down easily jumping over logs as she flew through the forest. When she didn't hear foot steps behind her she stopped. She pulled out the peice of paper from her pocket and it was a hand drawn map.
There was a large tree, a river, big rocks and some bushes that grew along a cliff. On the other side of the bushes there was a marked X.
She looked around and climbed a tree to get a better view. She saw a very tall old tree in the distance. She headed that way.
Josh
He was getting in his car. He had been casing her childhood home and there was nobody coming or going. He had decided that it was safe enough to check it out.
Seeing Nicole gave him extra determination. She needed him. He needed to find out where her mom grew up. His phone rang as he got in his car it was a number he didn't know.
"Hello"
"Bro. What are you up to?" It was Mark but he sounded wierd. He never called him 'Bro'.
"Are they making you call?"
"You know it Bro. I can help you with anything. Just tell me where you are." Mark was monitone.
"Are you in danger?"
"Haha not really busy." Silence from Mark.
Josh got the feeling he was lying. "What do you need from me?"
"St. Louis? I know it. Sounds good." Mark kind of laughed. "Julia? She's fine." Mark hung up.
Josh wondered if he was speaking code? Was he was needing to meet him in St. Louis.
From the same number that Mark called him on. Josh tried to reach out via mindlink but they didn't use it much so it wasn't strong enough to go so far.
Josh felt frustrated getting things pulled from 2 different angles.
Nicole
Nicole followed her map hearing the men chasing her. She got to the cliff and it was like the end of the world. There was literally just clouds. She looked again at the map and looked back out over the cliff. If you looked really close you could see where the clouds shifted ever so slightly differently than the rest. Maybe that was something. She heard the men coming. What really was her choice; if she died she didn't see Josh and if she stays who knows what they are going to do to her but she will live not without Josh.
She took a deep breath took several steps backwards and looked straight ahead and felt no fear.
