Sometimes You Just Need Faith

The men chasing her came rushing out of the woods behind her. She picked up speed as she approached the cliffs edge. She could feel one of the men breathing on her, he was almost close enough to catch her. She only looked forward and pushed herself to go even faster. As she reached the edge of the cliff she took a leap of faith bigger than she had ever done in her life. She remembered the first time she jumped into the pool without Uncle to catch her. She harnessed everything she had as she leaped into thin air. It was like slow motion to her as she floated into the clouds. She sort of heard them scream her birth name but that didn't mean anything to her. As she came down she landed into the clouds that were rotating the wrong way. It was soft and sort of wet as it caught her. She disappeared from sight. Josh Josh walked up to her house like he was supposed to be there. He quickly jimmy'd the door open and let himself in. It smelled musty and old. Places start to smell like that when they are closed up. He took his black leather jacket off and set them and his sunglasses on the table. "Where to start." 'Start with what you know. She found something under the floor and in the chair.' Trenton said and Josh agreed heading to the chair. He pulled off the seat cushion, nothing. Flipped the chair over, nothing popped out. He got on his knees and slid his hand up each arm rest as far as he could go. Nothing. He cleared the chair. He stopped on his way down the hallway and looked at the pictures of Nicole. There were a few of her young and her graduating picture. It made his heart hurt missing her. Almost hard to breath when he thought of her. Then he thought of something and took her graduating picture down and brought it to the table. He'd left one letter in a picture. The he thought better and grabbed them all. He opened the back of them up one at a time. He had stacks of pictures in them. He got lost in the moment looking at the pictures of Nicole. One was smaller and she was petting Shadow as a kitten. He put that one in his coat pocket. On the back of her graduating picture was not a note but a hand drawn map of some sort. It had a road and few towns names, a sketch of Mount Rushmore and an X just on the backside of the moutain. He took a picture of it with his phone. He put all the pictures back and hung them back up on the wall. He went into her childhood bedroom and he was stopped in his tracks. It smelled so much like her, everything had been touched by her. He felt overwhelmed by it but stood his ground. He just needed her so bad that anything that smelled like her was tantalizing to him. He just took in her scent and it gave him energy. He started looking around her room, under the bed, between the mattress and boxspring. He opened her drawers and took out anything that was in them. He went through her closet even digging way in the back and nothing. On her bed was a stuffed rabbit it looked old to him and had a place of importance on the bed. He sat on her bed and took the rabbit in his hands. "Where are you?" All his life things came easy to him. Sports, girls, friends. This was frustrating beyone belief for him to work through this and with the pain of a missing mate. Now he understood why some peoples wolves go feral and wild. Trenton could only think of one thing, finding her. He set the rabbit back on the bed and went to the other room across the hall. This must've been her Uncles room. He opened the door he knew he had his work cut out for him. He had a different scent not really wolf but not entirely human either. He started with the bed, nothing, the dresser, nothing. In the closet he found an evelope in the far back corner against the wall. He pulled it out and it looked old and beat up with water stains on it. He tossed it on the bed and continued to look. Satified that there was nothing else to find he sat on the bed and opened the evelope. It was a letter from her parents to him. ~Please take our girl and take care of her. There is a key with her, it will set you free and take care of both of you forever. We can't run anymore and it's putting her in danger. They may or may not know about her. Protect her, love her but most importantly never let her know what she really is until the time is right. ~MaryBeth and Edward He looked in the envelope again just to make sure, and there was another picture and it was of the three of them as a family. All smiles. He noticed that her father was wearing a signature ring. It was of one of the largest wolf packs in North America, the Blue Moon Pack. He finished clearing his room and found nothing else. He did his best to leave the room just as he had found it. One last place was the basement. He opened the door at the top of the stairs and looked down. It looked pretty empty but he went down anyway. There was the furnace, air conditioner and laundry. Your basic basement. He was turning around when he noticed on the floor the dirt had drag marks in it. He looked around that area touching the wall and then a secret foor opened. It was an elaborate technology room. It had sever computers, a big map on the wall and pictures of people. In the corner was a file drawer and he walked over and pulled it open. Half was filled with stacks of cash and half had files in it. He saw one that peeked his interest "Wolfgang Hieghts". Josh pulled the file and then sat down at the desk. He moved the mouse and everything turned on but it needed a password. He thought for a moment and the typed in 'NickyBicky' and everything came to life. He just started going through the files reading the names and then he came across STS>1224> file. He clicked it open and he saw a picture of Edward, Nicole's father and an outlined family tree some with pictures some without. He realized that one of the pictures was the one of the single man in WWII clothing. He looked to be Nicole's Great Grandfather. He clicked on the file document and it had dates disappeared, bank accounts, last known movements. Very detailed information. Edward had 2 other brothers and a sister that passed away. Josh hit the print button. He saw a file "WG?Heights" and he opened that one as well. It was near Mount Rushmore and had been for 200 years. Josh thought back to the map on his phone. That was the next place to go. He could be here for days so he had to pack it up. 'Looks like we are headed to South Dakota.' Josh said to Trenton as he set up the security cameras making sure they came through on his phone. He called the local shelter and made an appointment for Shadow. He needed some place to board him while he was gone. They promised to give him loves everyday. He felt a little guilty leaving him but the traveling was tough on him and it seemed it wasn't going to be getting any better. He gave him and kiss and told him he'd be back for him. He paid them for 3 months up front and left. He drove north making his way to Mount Rushmore. He thought of her coming to him. It was like she was physically there. He had started feeling this coldness that was so painful and now it was gone. He prayed that she was okay. That she still wanted him when he saw her again. His phone rang brining him back to reality. "Hello." "Dude" Mark's voice came over the line. "I got away from them. The s**t has been crazy. What did you do?" "I don't really know but my mate Nicole is probably a Lycan and I told my Dad that. He demanded that we return home. We were attacked and they took her. She's gone and I am on the hunt for her. I won't be coming home to deal with my Dad for a while." "No s**t?" Mark was stunned. "Well I have no place to go. Where are you headed? Maybe I can help?" They talked for a while longer and came up with a place to meet. Josh told him that they had marked each other and how they took her the very next day. He told him about her mind linking with her and that it was like she standing right in front of him. It was nice to have someone he could trust to talk with. Shadow wasn't around anymore to talk with. A few hours later Mark was waiting for him in a gas station parking lot. Josh pulled up and they were gone again. Mark looked through most of the stuff and agreed that he was headed to the right spot. "Are you in love with her?" Mark was curious. "Yes. I was almost instantly. She's just amazing" His heart was hurting for her. "Do you wished you would've waiting?" "Yes. Please never tell her about Julia. She is very insignificant and how I felt about her is nothing like how I feel about Nicole. Wait for your mate is all I can say." "I can't hardly wait." Mark agreed. Josh turned into the hotel where they were going to stay. He sat in the parking lot and just watched people come and go. It was getting dark and Josh felt better having Mark with him. Nicole Nicole was sucked into some type vortex spinning her around. It almost felt like Jello to her. It turned dark and she couldn't see her hands at all. Suddenly her feet were on the ground and it was dark outside. She had no idea where she was but she saw lights in the distance and started to make her way towards them. She was exhausted after a bit and decided to just sit by a tree for a bit. It was dark and the forest was quiet. She looked tried to connect with Josh but she couldn't. She felt so lost an alone. Tears started to flow down her cheeks. All she wanted was Josh.
