Finding Your Person

Nicoles sleep was pretty much non existent because she kept dreaming about Josh. At least now her man in the dream had a name. Why was she dreaming about him? Why was she so pulled towards him? She never trusted anyone but she was fighting trusting him? She had million questions with no answers. Frustrated she got ready to go back to work. She had decided that she was going to put in her notice and move to her childhood home for a while anyway. She was going to do some investigating and follow whatever leads Uncle had left. She just had a feeling something wasn't right. It occured to her that lots of things weren't right about how his house was. Star Trek, really? She knew he would never watch that show. He never watched anything like that,it was a documentary or the news and nothing else. A sickness rose from her stomach. 'No way' she thought to herself and pushed it aside. She finished getting ready for work and headed out the door. She was astonished to see Josh sleeping in his truck across the street. She thought about going up to him and tried to just walk away but he had saved her, she should make sure he was okay. Josh He had stood watch all night outside her apartment door. He didn't know what they knew about her so he studied the people who came and went so he would eventually recongize a stranger. Tap, tap tap the window vibrated him awake and he looked around and then out the window. He was stunned to see her standing there. He was busted. He didn't want to seem like a stalker and he must've fallen asleep before he remembered to move. She was smiling at him with her big glasses on, her hair pulled back in french braide and a big sweater on with pants that made her legs look like elephant legs. 'Why' does she dress like that?' Trenton asked. Josh rolled down the window with a smile on his face. "Fancy running into you here." He tried to make a joke. "Yes, fancy. Are you okay?" She was concerned about him, it melted his heart. "Yeah, sorry I was going to leave but I just wanted to make sure nothing happened for a while and I must've fallen asleep. I mean, someone did try to kidnap you right off the street. Besides I had no where else to go. I never found a hotel yesterday." Ooops Trenton said inside. "You just got to town yesterday?" "Yes, I am here on business and I will be staying to run said business. I was thinking since we are already friends I might check this apartment building out. It's close enough to work to walk." He tried to be casual. Her heart jumped at the thought of him being around but she stifled that. "The office opens at 9am." She stepped back from the truck. "Do you have your tazer in your hand or should I walk you to work?" Josh smiled at her. She held up her hand showing him her tazer and then turned and walked away. Her heart was beating fast and she had a little more pep in her step walking away from him. Josh watched her walk away and after she was far enough he got out of the truck and followed her. He just wanted to make sure. It was only a couple of blocks. He stopped at the corner that he could see she made it to the front door of Data Solutions. His phone rang just as the door closed and she was gone. "Yes." It was his Dad. "I set up a meeting for you. I give you a say and then you go MIA?" Stan was furious. "I came early. I drove out here." He wanted to tell his Dad why but he thought better of it. "Being proactive." Stan said curiously. "Well the deal is done. You can show up to start learning the ropes tomorrow." "Great." Josh headed back toward his truck and hung up the phone. "Now to get that apartment." He said to himself. With a little extra monetary persuasion the apartment manager was able to get him an apartment on the floor just below her apartment. He could keep tabs on people in the apartment without being the creepy guy stalking her that he currently looks like. He moved his suitcase in and ordered some furniture. He could get the bed moved in today but everything else was going go have to wait. He was busy all day with tracing the license number of the car that tried to kidnap her. He went to the local tailor to get fitted for 10 suits. He had 4 he could take with him plus he picked up some casual stuff. He had only thought of Nicole a thousand times that day. Watching her let her hair loose. He'd feel himself get aroused just thinking of that moment. He was day dreaming of her while his lap top was looking for that plate number and what popped up on the screen. It was registered to entity that is run by one of the biggest packs in US Blue Moon Pack. His jaw hit the floor. 'What do they want with our mate?' Trenton asked. 'I don't know but this just got serious.' Josh contemplated his options. Then he heard a loud and alarming 'Hey' coming from her apartment and then a loud thud. He panicked and ran as fast as he could up the stairs. He got her door and it was closed. He decided to knock. He heard Shadow meow at his knock but nothing else. He turned the door nob and it was open. Both him and Trenton were on high alert as the door opened for him. He caught Shadow and picked him up while he shut the door. He heard some movement in the bedroom and it didn't seem like her. "Who is here?" He heard the movement stop with the sound of his. voice. His heart was racing and he could smell her and someone else, she was there. He followed her scent and walked into her room. It was dark but he could hear her breathing."Nicole?" He reached for the light. "Don't" He heard her say. He flipped the light on anyway. He had a good idea of what happened but she didn't know he already knew. There was a man flat on his face, Josh bent down and noted he was breathing. Nicole was hiding on the other side of the bed. "Hey, Nicole." He said in a gentle voice. He could feel that she was afraid but not of him of something else. "Josh?" She opened her closet and she was standing there. "What happened?" "I don't..." She had tears in her eyes "I don't know. He was behind my door and he grabbed me and something happened to me. I was like super strong and I tossed him over my shoulder." She caughter her breath as she moved toward him. "Hey, hey, hey, slow down. It's okay. I am here." He reached for her and she let him. She let his strong arms fold around her and it felt so good. "He grabbed me from behind and I just tossed him on the ground. How is that? Why does this feel so good? What really is happening here?" She didn't really want to leave him but she pushed out of his arms. "Can we maybe call 911 and have this guy arrested first and then talk about the rest of this?" Josh motioned toward the door and she left in front of him. He looked around making sure there was nobody else in the room. The man on the floor groaned but otherwise didn't move. The police came and took the guy into custody and took her statement all the while looking over at Josh sure that he had been the one that knocked the guy out. Nicole locked the door behind the police and leaned against the door. "So are you officially my superhero?" She smiled at him "Water?" She brought them both water and sat at the table with him. "How did you know to come in?" "That part is easy. I heard it. I live just below you now. I said I had to find some place to live that was close to work." He took a sip of water. "So what is the hard answer then?" She was a smart one, that was for sure he thought to himself. "I don't know if you are ready." He pointed to the boxes. "There might be more answers in those boxes than you think." She thought breifly of the boxes and then looked back at him. "Something changed in me to toss that person like that. I am not that strong." "I know. I know more than you think, but still the boxes are probably your best bet." He smiled and leaned forward a bit. Fine, she gave in. She needed someone's help and he seemed like a trustworthy person. She told him about the mystery package that was left, about finding the tin box and the pictures. "Alright, let's take a look at the picures." She handed them to him "Nicky Bicky?" He gave her questionable look. "It's what Uncle called me when he would tease me." "I like it, Nicky Bicky, kind of catchy." He pulled out the pictures and studied them without saying a word. He wondered if they were symbolic or literal. "I think they are sybolic." She said casually. "Did you just read my mind?" "No, I don't think so but these days I can toss grown men over my shoulder." "Humm because that is exactly what I was just thinking. Is this one you?" He pointed to the picture with a girl and a man. She confirmed. "Do you know any of the other people?" She shook her head. "Maybe we need to see what else in the boxes." He felt that she was putting it off for a reason. "You haven't even looked in the box?" "I started to read some of the articles in the file but it just started feeling overwhelming." Inside she finished 'plus I couldn't get you off my mind.' "Well, shall we rip that band aid off?" He went and got the box. It was heavy for it's size. "Now tell me about this guy that came to your house."
