Alpha Geist charged in as his warriors subdued the intruders. "They are trying to kill her! Save him! The only way they can kill her is to kill him!"
Nicole rushed to Josh, there was blood everywhere on him. She had no idea where he was bleeding from. "Josh, My Love, stay with me! Open your eyes." She picked up his upper body in her arms and pulled him on her. "Please, Baby."
They picked him up and started putting his limp body on a couch they had grabbed to bring him to the doctor.
Nicole felt her heart rip out of her chest and she started to hyperventilate. She had never felt so much pain in all her life. The room was spinning and everything went black for her.
Alpha Giest fired out command after command as they rushed Josh to the in-house doctor. He was losing a lot of blood with a steady stream as they carried him. He could tell they were losing him and didn't have much time.
They hit the double doors and the Doctors were already ready for surgery. They cut his cloths off him and they found the entry wound in the left side of his neck and a large exit wound from his right lower ribs. He had another wound that entered his chest just above his heart and exit wound just below his right shoulder blade. They were definitely kill shots. The Doctors closed the doors and knew they had a long night ahead of them.
Alpha Giest turned around and headed back to the scene of the crime. Nicole was being brought to the room next to Josh. Her body was starting to turn cold as Josh was seemingly losing the fight of his life.
Rhonda was sitting next to her and Mark was pacing back and forth. As long as Nicole was breathing Josh was still alive.
Alpha Giest entered the holding cell for the men his warrior caught. He took up every inch of the door was he entered it. He towered over the caught intruder. He knew right away that they were not dealing with wolves. "Leave us." He demanded.
His men quickly left the room and Geist zeroed in on the leader. "I thought you were sent here to protect her? How did this happen?" Anger boiled in his words.
"I don't know what happened. The shots came from at least 300 feet away. It was definitely a professional job. If he hadn't dropped to one knee..."
Geist interrupted "One knee?"
"Yeah he was proposing."
"What? Nevermind. You guys are Moon Angels." He was frustrated now. "s**t. He better live, for your sake."
The angel reached in his breast pocket "Here give him this. It will heal him from the inside out." He handed over a small vile.
The doctors were working on Josh, the bullet had grazed his aorta just enough and his right lower lung clasped. His blood loss was enormous and his skin looked peaked with a blueish hue around his eyes and lips. It was the tell tell sign that he was at deaths doorstep. She wasn't about to stop until he took his last breath. He was way too important to just give up. The bleeding had slowed and she was feeling like things were maybe turning around when Giest came busting in.
He handed the vile to the nurse "Pour that in his mouth NOW! " He started to roll up his sleeve to donate blood. His blood was the best and the strongest "Give him my blood he ordered. He looks like s**t!" He knew he needed blood, he had seen this before.
The nurses worked on hooking up the blood donation and the other nurse poured the vile in his mouth and then they all watched as the doctor never gave up, she was repairing the aorta, his lungs and other larger vessels that had been disrupted.
Rhonda
Rhonda sat with Nicoles cold hand in hers. She thought of her own mom and Nicoles mom. She thought of her life and how meaningless it had been until she met Mark. She wondered what the future held for all of them. She felt drawn to Nicole like they had known each other in a different life maybe. She looked at her friend who looked like she was just sleeping. She was still in her red dress that looked so perfect for her. Her hair was partially up with some curls that had come lose laying in ribbons of aburn around her pillow. "I don't know if you can hear me but Josh really needs you. He needs your help to heal for both your sakes."
Mark came up next to her feeling her sadness in the bond and put his arm over her. "They are strong together. They are going to make it." He hoped anyway. Josh was his Alpha and his best friend. It was hard to forget what he looked like when they picked up his limp body, blood spilling everywhere. He didn't even think that someone had that much blood in them.
Alpha Giest
He watched his blood flow into Josh and thought of his own son. He would have done anything to save his own son. He never had the opportunity. His men had found him in some abandoned ditch mere moments from death. He never recovered. He lays downstairs breathing and his heart beating but his body is lost to time. They do their best to take care of his body with exercises, stretching and the sort but it's been 21 years he's been in that coma state. They tried pulling the feeding tube but he never passed away, it was like somethig else was keeping him alive.
Despite what Sabrina thought they had looked for MaryBeth but never found her, not one shred of evidence that she even existed to him. Edwin had hold him all about her and kept him up to date on their travels. He had sent a few pictures of them and the one of the three of them when Katrina was a baby.
He watched Josh's face and was willing him to move, wiling him to open his eyes. He had willed that on his own son thousands of times with no response. He noted that the heart rate monitor began to speed up a bit. He willed him to open his eyes again. Giest noted the changes in breathing and the nurses came in trying to seem like they were not in a rush but rushing all the same. He watched them intently. His blue eyes burning a hole in them as they checked the machines and drips. "Any change?"
"I am sorry Alpha, no change." One of the nurses said as she hit a few buttons and turned to leave the room.
Nicole
She opened her eyes and she was in a bright room that had a big window facing another room. She thought she was walking but she was floating and she willed herself over to the window. She saw Josh laying there, hooked up to machines, she could hear the beeping of the heart rate monitor, she saw Grandpa connected to him giving him blood. She saw the look of concern on his face.
Josh looked like death was upon him, his lips were blue. His eyes had dark circles around them and his cheek bones were prominate because his face looked like it was caving in. She touched the glass barrier and it virbrated a little. She tapped harder and spoke loudly "Josh" nobody heard her.
She paced the window keeping her eyes on Josh. The love of her life, the man of her dreams that she didn't even know existed. She thought of the dreams she had with him. They would be dancing and laughing. He had put a daisy in her hair. The breeze was a warm summer breeze that floated between them as they danced together. She believed that this was a true scene. It was going to happen. She felt all the love from him at that moment and it empowered her. It filled her up with strength and she raised her fist and hit the window as hard as she could with a good hard defiant scream. The window shook and you could see it wave doing it's best to hold it's ground. Nicole took a deep breath and from somewhere deep inside this power pulsed through her into her fists as she pounded on the window again with more of a roar than a scream and the window shattered. She watched it fall in sheets of broken glass all around the floor.
She felt the air from Josh's room rush past her as if it was in a vacuum. She made her way to Josh and looked down at him. Her heart fluttered looking at him and thinking of all the things they had shared so far and life was just begining for them. She bent down so they were face to face and their lips were almost touching. "Someday death will come for us and I will walk with him, but today is not that day. Today is our day." She kissed his lips and they were cold initially. She closed her eyes and saw them dancing again. His lips started warming up from hers.
Rhonda saw Nicole moving her eyes and her breathing changed. Her hand clenched hers. Rhonda stood up and Mark came over to see what was happening. "I think somethings happening." Rhonda didn't even want to blink.
Josh's machines started beeping like crazy and Geist didn't want to move. The nurses came rushing and the doctor came in. Geist was taken off the blood line. "Please step away Alpha."
He stood in the corner and watched them work on Josh. He willed him to open his eyes not blinking himself and to his surprise Josh did open his eyes just for a moment. Giest knew in his heart of hearts that this was a turning point. He turned and let the good doctors and nurses work their magic.
"She moved! She moved!" Rhonda came bounding out of the next room. She hugged her Grandpa. It had been more than 24 hours since the fateful moment and things were looking up. He wished for a moment that his son would have to same result.
"I think they are on an up swing. It's time to get some rest my dear."
"I am not leaving her. She can't wake up alone." Rhonda headed back in the room.
Alpha Geist headed back to his room. He wanted to be alone. They were not out of the woods yet.
