Oliver, someone is here to see you. The bright message flashed across my phone screen. I groaned to myself, attempting to ignore the message so I could continue listening to music. My plan was quickly crushed by repeated ringing noises interrupting my music. I reluctantly pulled my earbuds from my ears. I sat up in my king-sized bed, tiredly rubbing my eyes. The black satin sheets that coiled around my waist fell from my shoulders. It was barely 10:30. Who would want to see me so early? I stood on my bed, flicking on a nearby lamp. The room suddenly illuminated in a warm glow, allowing me to find something quickly that I could put on. Since I wasn't sure who would be there to see me, sweatpants certainly wouldn't do. After all, I'm the Alpha's only son. I have an image to uphold as the firstborn and the Heir to the Alpha throne. For all, I knew it could have been one of the leaders of the training camps my mother attempted to get me into. I pulled the first Henley I saw over my shoulders, tugging the bottom into place. I pulled my long sleeves above my forearms, grabbing the first pair of jeans I had seen. A pair of dark wash was thrown over my navy blue velvet chair. In my attached bathroom, I quickly brushed my teeth, applied deodorant and rinsed my face. I could already hear my little sisters before I had even opened the bedroom door. Their playroom rested directly across from my room. The large space became the room where the twins had spent most of their time from dawn to dusk. I could hear their high-pitched giggles from behind the door. I quietly opened the bedroom door, attempting to sneak past the two as they were bickering with one another. It was all in vain, however, as they were lucky enough to be gifted with mom's sense of hearing. Just as I thought I had got off scot-free, my sister's faces snapped up to see me half past the doorframe. "You look tired." one of my sisters piped up, her eyes watching me intently while completely forgetting the board games they were playing. My other sister nodded her head approvingly before piping up with her curiosity as well. "Yeah. What gives? You are not usually awake until lunchtime at least. " I rolled my eyes in response. Though my sisters were only eight, they were both incredibly curious and adventurous. There was never even a hint of fear in their eyes, no matter the situation. They were also both severely protective over their poor brother, who had received none of their mother's natural gifts. "Mom said someone is here to see me." I shrugged nonchalantly. They looked at each other for a few moments, as if speaking a silent language that no one else could hear or understand. "Who would come to see you?" they both asked in unison. I raised an eyebrow in response. "I don't know, and besides, it's none of your business," I growled at them slightly. I was becoming impatient with the constant questions. However, instead of dropping it, both girls instead giggled at my attempts to be aggressive. "Fine." the girls rolled their eyes before Darcie spoke up for them both. She raised her finger and wiggled it at me. "But if it's important you better tell us, or else we'll pour a cup of water on your pillow again." They shouted at me while I turned the corner toward the kitchen. Mom was standing at the kitchen island, whipping up some breakfast as she usually did. Though Alpha's had the luxury of an on-call chef, my mother simply refused to call him in. She instead opted to pay him full wages to stay home. She insisted that it was something she wanted to do every time calling him for a meal was brought up. She forced the conversation into a dead end every time. My mom's pure white hair was clipped behind her head, a few white strands dangling out here and there due to her work. Her apron was covered in the morning's ingredients, yet she wore a business dress underneath. She must have multiple meetings today. She immediately lifted her head once I went into the kitchen. She gave me a bright smile. "Good morning Ollie." Mom smiled, going back to her mixing bowl. "I hope you're okay with French toast for breakfast." "Uh, Yeah. You said someone was here to see me?" "Yes." She smiled and nodded her head towards the breakfast nook. Sitting patiently at the table was a familiar face I hadn't seen in a few years. "Uncle Noir. What are you doing here?" I questioned him. He hadn't aged a single day since I had seen him on my sixteenth birthday. Noir shrugged nonchalantly in response, giving me a quick pat on the back. "Sit with me." He nodded towards the chair opposite of him, taking his seat behind. I sat across from him, my curiosity growing by the moment. "Has Ricky been treating you well?" Noir questioned calmly, his head turned toward the window. He held a cup of coffee in the special mug my mother keeps for whenever he decides to show up. "Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, Uncle Noir, but why are you here?" I questioned. Mom placed my steaming mug in front of me before returning to finish off the food. Noir shrugged his shoulders. He stayed quiet for a few moments before finally speaking up. "I need your help." He spoke calmly and casually, his eyes meeting my own. "You need me? Are you sure? I don't have any special talents as mom has." I protested quietly, unsure about my value to the mission that Noir was going on. "I am sure." He nodded his head, watching me calmly. "I'm not strong." "I can fix that." "I'm not athletic, I can't run fast." "You have a healthy build. We can work with it. " What do you even need me for that mom can't do anyway?" "Your mother is busy. She's an Alpha. Plus, she isn't easy to disguise. I can't fit in well with humans, but you can." My eyes immediately widened at the mention of humans. I looked over at my mother, whose face had turned hard as she stared at both of us. "I don't think that's a good idea, Noir." She spoke up, pulling off her apron. " I haven't even met a human before." "He'll be fine. I'll look after him, Poppy." "The whole reason you need him is that you can't disguise yourself, which means you can't be close enough for me to feel comfortable about the whole thing." She had pulled off her apron, standing in front of Noir with an obvious disdain on her face, "Why do you need to bring my son around humans? "I have a mission I have to do," Noir stated simply. My mother started at him, waiting for more information. However, Noir had not offered anything further. "What mission?" "I can't tell you that." "I'll do it." I popped up, causing both of them to look at me in surprise. I pressed my lips together for a second. "Are you sure?" My mother placed her hand on my shoulder, watching me with a look of worry. "I'll be fine mom." I gave her a small smile before turning toward Uncle Noir. "When do we leave?"
