Turmoil

Abaddon's POV Athena left only a moment ago and I needed a cold shower. I had a raging hard on just moments before and wanted to take her right then and there. I wanted to know more about her. However, the only thing on my mind was pulling back that bathrobe. I stepped into the shower and let the chilling water fall down every inch of my body, from head to toe. I tried to wash my body and the thoughts of Athena down, but her scent was all over me. I guess having her so close to me all night would cause a deep imprint of her all over me. Just wait until my mom caught a smell of me. I hopped out and dressed quickly to get down the stairs before Athena could get bombarded by the rest of the pack. My mother was sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading some sales magazine. Her glasses just slightly lowered on her nose. "Good morning, Ab. You smell," she started to say before Athena walked into the room with Aleksandr. For the first time my mothers eyes wondered away from her magazine before she reached the last page. Aleksandr. My mother's eyes were wide and full of joy. The same joy she had the day I became alpha. "Well aren't you just the cutest boy I have ever set eyes on," she bubbled. I made a questioning look at my father as he walked in. What had come over her? She looked to Athena in the door way. Athena was standing there with a look of nervousness. I could sense she wanted to run back to the room and hide. I walked to her and pulled him into the room. My mother watched her with curiosity. "Good morning, you must be Athena," my dad broke the silence. He was always awkward about things. "Yes, sir." Athena's voice was meek. I almost didn't hear her. My dad reached to shake her hand and Athena's hand sent out a jolt of electricity when they touched. My father was not phased, but my mother jumped up to protect her mate. She stepped between them. I stepped between her and my mate. "You mind yourself, Abaddon. She attacked my mate. How dare you bring a witch here!" she snapped. I opened my mouth to speak but it wasn't my voice I heard. "How dare he? How dare you? You don't even know me, but had so much to say. I am so sick of everyone acting like I am easy to just walk all over," she demanded. She had a tone that was far from weak this time. She was the future luna and was using it to her advantage. Not to forget she had alpha blood running through her veins. My mother narrowed her eyes at Athena only a moment. It wasn't in anger. She was confused. I could tell every part of her wanted to fight her wolf's natural instinct to obey her Luna. However, this fight with her wolf was not just because she knew this was her Luna but also because Athena was Alpha and possibly a more influential one than myself. Athena adjusted and began to turn to leave the room. Visibly still angry over my mothers outburst. "My mate sometimes loses her tongue, Athena. I apologize for her outburst. You are our future Luna." My father was trying to diffuse the situation. Athena froze in place with curiosity dancing her features. She was so beautiful with all her facial expressions. If there was one thing I had learned fast, she couldn't hide her feelings. Her face would always tell on her. "What are you?" my mother asked. "She is your future Luna," I stepped to respond. "I get that, but I also see she is no human or mere witch. So, I ask again," she paused waiting for a response. I looked to Athena for her to answer. It was her secret to tell. Her time to shine. If she chose to. Athena gazed between me and my mother. She took a deep breath and stepped forward. "I am the Alpha daughter of a fox, the daughter of a powerful witch and yet I am still stronger than both. I do not know what I am, except I am a hybrid. I am your son's mate and I am my son's mother." Her voice carried a calm knowing tone. Athena was not the scared and nervous girl she once seemed to be at the party the night we met. That, or she was putting this all on to stand strong infront of my family. "We are going to see the elders today," I stated to my mother. "Good. There is something unnatural about her. She seems like a," she paused and bit her lip. I knew what she was talking about. I just didn't want to think my mate could be one. I couldn't stay with her and stay the alpha of our pack. "You are talking nonsense, mom. Lets eat," I tried to change the subject. We all sat except for my mother. She went outside. Something very few wolves did was smoke. My mother was one of those few wolves. She sat on the back porch where we could all see her. She rocked slowly back and forth in thought. She took slow and deliberate puffs of her cigarette until it was gone. She pulled another out and flicked the lighter to drag another. She was fully lost in her inner turmoil. Aleksandr and Athena finished their food quick. My sister was going to watch Aleksandr while I took Athena to the Elders. I escorted Athena to my black pickup truck. It was new and my pride and joy. Something I had worked hard to earn myself. Athena was short next to my truck. This made me howl a laugh. I was use to my truck being almost seven foot tall, but she was merely a foot shorter or more than myself. Giving me a stern glare, she popped the door opened and hopped up into the truck. I was impressed. Most girls I took on dates would wait for me to help them like they were some damsel in distress. Smiling to myself, I got in and revved the truck up. "What is that smile all about?" Athena asked. "Nothing." "Tell me," she begged. "It was nothing." I smiled a little harder. "I wish I could read your mind," she complained. "You will, once I mark you as mine," I said and winked at her. Athena didn't say a word. She only stared at me in disbelief. This was going to be fun. However, first we needed to see the elders.
