What is marking?

Athena's POV I woke up to the sound of the loudest snoring I had ever heard. His arms wrapped around me. I tried to get up, but when I did he tightened his grip on me. He didn't want to let go. I smiled at this. I had never been held like this before. I struggled to turn over and face him. Once there, I planted little kisses all over his face. Finally, he woke up. "Good morning sleepyhead," I whispered. "Good morning my moon," he said and kissed me back. "I need to get up, please," I begged. My blatter was about to burst. "Nope. I am never letting go. You are trapped now," he still hadn't opened his eyes. "Oh well, what if I promise to come back fast?" I said. "Fine. Five minutes," he growled. I ran to my room for the bathroom. This made it easy to check on Aleksandr and use the restroom. Aleksandr was sound asleep and curled up into a little ball. I took a moment before heading back to Abaddon to admire him sleeping. I reentered Abaddon's room to hear him snoring again. He slept so loudly you would think a bear was in there and not a wolf. I curled back into his arms and he woke up again. "I want to stay like this all day," he mumbled into my hair. "Why couldn't we? I have nowhere to go." I liked the idea of being curled up in bed with him all day long. "Yes, we do. You need to be properly introduced to my family. They need to officially meet you," he said. I shifted in the bed to look at him. I wasn't ready to meet his mother like this. She already hated me. "I don't think I want to do that. Your mom doesn't like me already." I was super nervous now. "No, she is just very protective of her kids. She has to meet you. She will see how wonderful you are, just as I see," he smiled while leaning up on one elbow. I gave him a pouting face. "You can't pout your way out of this. I have to set her straight and you'll be able to meet them properly," he said and got out of bed. I pulled the covers over my head, trying to hide from this. Why did I have to do this? Abandon pulled the covers back and tried to pick me up. I thrashed around screaming to put me down. Only once we reached his bathroom did he listen. His bathroom was huge. I had thought the one in my room was big. Mine had a very large tub and two sinks. Abaddon’s bathroom was like a dream. It had a large tub that could fit two or three people at once and seem to double as a hot tub. It also had a shower with jet streams coming from the wall and everything had a cobble design. It was very cute. He turned the shower on and my face immediately went hot. He grabbed two towels from the cabinet and placed them on the sink. “What’s wrong my moon?” He was noticing my embarrassment at the thought of showering with him. “Erm, nothing. I just have to wake Alek and get him ready as well,” I lied. I was much too nervous about showering with him. I glanced at the steam rolling from the shower. Abaddon must have caught my gaze and handed me one of the towels. “I will wait in the bedroom for you to finish.” Then he walked out. Once the door was closed, I slipped out of my clothes and into the shower. It was so warm and helped loosen up muscle I hadn’t noticed were stiff. When I was done I stepped out to find a huge fluffy robe waiting for me on the sink. I wrapped my hair in the towel and put the robe on. It felt like wrapping a warm cloud around my body. Abaddon was sitting on a couch in his bedroom. I took this moment to really look around. His room was like a very large flat. There was a flat screen television on the wall that looked like a movie screen. The tv in my room was only sixty-five inch and it seemed to double that size. I suddenly felt a new wave of emotion. I am not like him or his family. They have money and I’m definitely from the other side of the woods. I don’t have anything to offer him as a mate. I stood quietly watching Abaddon play a video game. He didn’t notice me at all. Or so I thought. “Come here and stop staring at me,” he said. This made me jump a little. I walked over and sat next to him. Abaddon set the controller down on the table and sat back while putting his arm around me. “You smell so good,” he said and put his nose to my shoulder. Abaddon kissed my neck and licked my sweet spot on my shoulder. I could feel my body like fire. Warmth seeping from my core. “Now you smell even better,” he said in a husky voice and lightly nibbled my shoulder. “This is the spot I will mark you and make you mine.” I barely heard him as the fire grew and he caressed my thighs. I had an aching boiling in my core and Abaddon seemed to know exactly how to draw it out of me with every kiss and nibble he gave. He bit down just a little harder to my shoulder and a moan escaped me. Abaddon then slid his hands up higher to my hips and then he pulled me into his lap. He continued to kiss and nibble my shoulder as I straddle his lap. I could feel his length hard between my legs. Just barely brushing my core. I wept from the intense feeling and knew his shorts would be soaked soon. I was losing all my fight. I wanted this man to take me and so did Azriel. She was excitedly nudging me on in my head. Ready for our mate to mark us. “Wait,” I said while pulling back from Abaddon. He had a dazed look in his eyes that seemed to flicker gold. I could now see his wolf wanted him to take me too. “What is marking?” I asked. “It’s when a wolf claims his mate. Like a bite. It marks you to show all other wolves you’re taken and not to mess with you. No wolf can take you away from me once you’re marked.” “So it is like a wedding ring?” I pondered. “Similarly, yes. But you’ll also carry my scent. I will be able to hear your thoughts even far away and feelings.” “Feelings? I already feel yours. I guess actually I have always been able to feel everyone’s feelings around me. I just thought I was crazy,” I explained. “Interesting. That must be the witch in you. I have heard some witches can tell what others feel,” he suggested. “Yes, but more recently I have been starting to purposely draw feelings out or send them. My mom was teaching me. Though she doesn’t share this gift,” I continued. “What is your mother’s power anyway?” he asked. “She is a dream walker and medium. She can summon and talk to the dead. She sorta also knows when people or things are going to die. Which is kind of creepy but also cool,” I explained. “Dream walking is what?” He questioned. “Exactly as it sounds. She can walk through other people’s dreams. Though she doesn’t do this much. She says that if she walks through the wrong person’s dream she can get lost forever,” I explained. “Sounds scary.” “Yes.” Our moment of heat was stolen away with questions. It was fine by me though. I wasn’t ready for Abaddon to take or mark me. I still needed to get dressed and wake Aleksandr.
