Chapter 4- Encounter

We got outside, and then I looked at Andy. "I.... I don't know..." I mumbled softly. He sighed, and grabbed my hand. "Everything is gonna be alright." I nodded a bit, and cautiously followed after him to the car, and he opened the door, and I got in. I followed what Andy had done with the 'seatbelt', as he called it, and tucked my knees to my chest again. "Why do you hide your stomach?" I looked at Andy, and then at the window. "The scar. Where I was impaled with an iron bar 10 years ago." "I.. They hurt you...?" I nodded. "They rendered me useless, and sold me." "I'm sorry.... That's horrible, Aelonia.." I nodded a bit. "It is." We pulled onto street parking, and he shut the car off. "C'mon." We got out, and I glanced around us. I spotted two men who looked really familiar, and I tensed. They saw me, and I looked away, pretending not to notice. Me and Andy walked side by side, him pointing things out to me. After a good 20 minutes, I knew they were following us. "I-I wanna go back." I mumbled as I grabbed his hand with my own. "Why?" "They're following us. I saw them earlier..." He growled. "I'll take care of it." He pulled out his device, and called someone. "Jake? Yeah, we've got an issue. Vampires are following us. I have Aelonia with me, and I think she knows them." He nodded. "I'm close. We'll turn into the alleyway and confront them." I shook my head. "Andy, no. Don't. Please." He sighed, and squeezed my hand in a comforting grasp. "It's gonna be okay. Jake is on his way. Hopefully Ash will make an appearance too. He may seem cold, but he does care about saving humans." He put his phone away, and a couple minutes later, we turned into an Alleyway. He stood in front of me, and I gripped his shirt, peeking out from behind him. The two men walked into the alleyway, and removed their glasses. Black eyes. They were bad Vampires. I whimpered, and balled my hands into fists, now becoming more scared. "What do you two want." "How did you aquire her. We sold her in the slave auctions to a merciless vampire who would've never given her away." "He's dead. And now, I've decided to take care of her as a person. She's not a f*****g slave." A growl sounded from the shadows, and another vampire came flying, and when he hit the ground, he turned to ashes. A beautiful golden wolf walked out from the shadows, and stood next to Andy. Slowly, I let go of Andy's shirt, and fell down to my knees, looking at the wolf. It looked back at me, as if almost confused. "That's Jake, Aelonia." I looked up at Andy, and then at the wolf. "O-oh.... Um... Hi.?" Andy chuckled. "He can understand you. It's alright." I reached my hand out to touch his fur, and he shook his body around, so I darted my hand back to my body. "He probably won't let you touch his fur. He's a priss." Jake growled at Andy, and I tried again, to which he rubbed his head underneath my hand. I smiled, and stroked his fur, scratching behind his ears a bit too. He made a sound, and leaned against me. I bit my lip, and fell back against the wall behind me, losing my balance, and I wrapped my arms around him to help myself back onto my knees. "Ew. He smells." "Actually, he doesn't smell that bad. I live with him." "You are a disgrace to vampires." "Being a vampire is a curse. Not a privilege." "It's glorious! You feed off of whoever you wish to, whenever you want. You can do anything. Compel your way into the highest of statuses. Anything. Isn't that a privilege?" Andy growled. "I suggest you shut your trap, or I swear to God I'm going to rip your throat out." I stared between the two, my smile gone as I nervously stroked Jake's fur. One of them took a step forwards, and Jake growled. It gave me a strong sense of 'stay away from her'. I sighed, and focused on Jake's gorgeous fur, trying not to cry. "You do know them, don't you." "They're the ones that took me from my family." I mumbled softly. "Yeah. We figured you'd be a useful slave. Looks like we made the right choice." I looked up, and glared at them, but said nothing. They laughed. "He did a damn good job, she's practically a mute." "Actually, it's quite the contrary. You've simply made her afraid." Ashley snapped one's neck, and the vampire collapsed to the ground. I flinched, and Jake growled a bit. He looked at me, and I removed my hand from his fur. "....Sorry..." Jake seemed to shake his head before walking towards the second one. I stood up, and hid back behind Andy. Andy turned around, and looked at me. His eyes turned to a gorgeous ruby red, and he sighed. He looked... Sad. "You hear nothing until I say..." Compulsion. I looked at Ashley, and he sighed, closing his eyes. "Go ahead, Jake." Andy's hand covered my eyes, and I stood there, letting him think that I had been compulsed. In truth, I knew I was immune. I heard the vampires screams of pain, and the rage that Jake was feeling. His growls, and the tears of flesh. I cried. I couldn't help it. "Whew! That guy really pissed me off..." I heard Jakes voice, and Ashley chuckled. "You'll be sorry you did all that in a minute. She's immune to compulsion." Andy's hand removed from my face, and I opened my eyes, and looked up at him. "I'm sorry." He sighed, and hugged me, to which I just leaned into him, sniffling. "No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have tried to compulse you in the first place." "Wait... So... She heard.... E-everything....?" "Yep." "Shit.... I'm.... I'm sorry, Aelonia." I shook my head, and pushed Andy away, whipping my eyes. I played with a frayed end of the shirt, and sighed. "I don't want to talk about this anymore." Andy sighed. "R-right. Of course. I think we've had enough outing time for the day... Wait, I promised you food." I sighed, but simply nodded. "We'll meet you all at the house." He grabbed my hand, and we began to walk. We walked into a place, and he sat us down at a secluded table. A waitress came by, and Andy ordered us both water. It was awkwardly quiet... "Andy...?" "Yeah?" "Are you going to eat human food?" "Yes." "But doesn't it hurt you?" "Yes." I sighed. "I'm sorry..." "Don't be. It's my curse. Not yours. I have to deal with the consequences." I bit my lip, but said nothing more, knowing it would do no good. After we ate, he payed, and we went straight home. When we got there, he practically bolted inside, and I followed slowly. When I walked inside, I sat down at the same chair farther away from everyone, and tucked my knees to my chest. "He ate food, huh." I nodded. "How much?" "Half a plate." "Jesus.... Poor guy... Ash, get him blood bags. He'll need at least 2 to recover." I sighed, and stared at the floor, feeling guilt ebb away at me. My blood would've been enough to help him. Instead of bags of hospital blood... "You wouldn't wanna do that. Though you smell good to us Vampires, he would refuse. Up and down he would say no. He did that once, and he lost someone important to him because of it." I looked at Ashley, then looked away. "I'm used to it. I survived 10 years of the same thing over and over again. If you think it'd faze my now, you're ignorant." I mumbled as I continued to stare at the floor. "Whatever you say." "Ashley, you'd be agreeing with her if you saw the scars she's hiding. Physical scars." I bit my lip, and attempted to make myself smaller. "What scars." "You should've seen how badly bruised her neck was before Andy healed it... It was painful to look at." "Doubt it." I stood up, and sighed, hugging myself. "You are ignorant. I see that now." I mumbled before I walked outside, away from everyone, and sat down. Minutes later, Jake sat down next to me. A whoosh sounded, and his wolf body layed down next to me. Gently, I stroked his fur, listening to the silence. "When I was 8, I was impaled in the stomach with an iron bar... And then a couple years later, Damon would bite my legs. They're covered in unhealed bruises that will probably never go away... And my back has burn scars. He tried to set me on fire once." Jake whimpered, showing his sympathy. I sighed again, and placed a hand over my neck, and took in a slow breath. "Andy healed the scars and bruises over my neck... But it was horrible. Black and purple everywhere. In splotches." I sighed. "I wish that he would've understood that." I sighed, and closed my eyes, giving in to the sinking feeling in my heart.
