Once upon a time there lived a beautiful girl name Catherine. She enjoyed singing to herself but she loved dancing, so much, that she often sat in her room late at nights, dreaming of that day when she was old enough to dance alongside the ladies who, often got invited to go the ball.
Sometimes in the day she would sit and teach herself how to make dresses, from old clothes she had in her room. It was her passion, making clothes.
Sadly when Catherine was only 9 years old her mother died and father remarried, a year later. But, something bad happened, her father too passed away, when she turned 14. Catherine was now alone with her two stepsisters, Hanna and Jen and her stepmother, Wanda. There was no money left, to continue paying the helpers. Catherine’s stepmother’ Wanda had to sell some of the merchandise to make money to feed the family.
Unfortunately, Catherine was forced by Wanda to do all the household duties, since the helpers were laid off. Luckily they still had a little farm where that would provide a small income for them to eat.
One day Catherine asked, “Can I come to the theatre with the family.” “No!” Replied her stepmother. “You cannot be seen with royal people, you are nothing but a commoner.” Strangely, Catherine mustered up some courage and asked "Why am I treated this way? “I do everything you ask, tell me what did I do to deserve this?" To Catherine’s surprise, Wanda walked up to her and, slapped her in the face then, told her to go feed the horses in the stable.
The next day while on her way to the market to shop for groceries Catherine met an handsome young man.
She thought to herself, how could one man be so handsome? "Excuse me.” Said the man, "May I help you with your bags?" "Yes of course." Replied Catherine .
They started walking together "If it's ok may I know your name?"
She told him Catherine.
Surprisingly, she was talking to the
Prince and she had no idea.
Catherine was done shopping and told him she had to go now. The prince kept walking with her until they stopped under a tree.
"I think this is where we say goodbye." Said Catherine.
"Can I take you to your home on my horse? The prince asked. “Thanks for your kindness and thanks for the offer but I will take it from here.” Replied Catherine
"My name is Henry.” said the prince as she walked away.
And off she went leaving the prince alone under a tree in the forest.
Catherine was not only kind and sweet. She was smart. She knew, the only way she could get out of her situation was to think cleverly in all that she did.
She met Henry again and made him a nice shirt. He was pleased by how skilled and talented she was.
She then told him that she wanted to work. He told her that he works at the castle and that she could come by and make dresses for the ladies who often go to the balls.
A a few months passed and he didn't tell her he was the prince.
Henry enjoyed being treated normal and not as a prince.
And he loved how she didn't care to know the royal people in the castle, that way he stayed under cover for so long.
Catherine saved up enough money. She left the castle and bought a home.
She could finally move out of her stepmother's home.
Even though it was her father's house. Catherine lived on her own and was making dresses from her home.
A few months later the prince learned that she loved the ball and wanted to go there to dance. He could not hide his identity no longer, so he invited her to the ball she loved so much.
Catherine was so excited that she made a beautiful blue gown to attend the ball. Henry also gave her a beautiful glass slipper to wear to the ball. He sent a carriage to pick her up.
It was the most magically, magnificent thing she had ever seen. She had worked at the castle but was not allowed to the royal area.
Everyone stopped to look as she entered the ball room. Even the prince could not believe his eyes. She was so beautiful. He watched as she walked down the staircase. He then walked up to her and asked, "May I have this dance?" "Of course you may." Said Catherine.
They dance the whole night together. The prince could not take his eyes off her.
The prince mother walk over to them to meet this beautiful maiden her son was smitten by. The prince then introduced his dad the king. He then told her he had something to tell her.
They went outside away from the music and noise.
Prince Henry told her that he was actually the prince and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
Catherine was so shocked, she almost fainted. Not at the thought that he wanted to marry her but now learning that all this time he was the prince.
" I don't know what to say," said Catherine.
"Just say yes" Marry me and make me the happiest man alive. She smiled at him and said, "Yes"
They both got married within a week and lived happily ever after.
