Chapter 1 The Three
My name is Noah Rayman and right now I found myself in a strange place. Don't get me wrong. The weather is sunny and everything appears to be normal except one thing. There are no people around.
Nobody walking their dogs. Nobody jogging. Nobody sitting outside on their porches. Even more strange nobody driving by.
You would think I would just shrug this off as another strange dream, but this one somehow felt different as if I were really here. It felt real.
It was so vivid I could smell the fresh cut grass and the lilac bush surrounding a house I walked past. I have never been in this town before, so why would I be dreaming of this?
I walked across the street toward a park where I notice the only other people around. As I walk toward the swingsets I could see that one was a girl wearing a hijab. The other was a boy wearing a jacket with Mandrin print. They both looked about my age. I figured I should go say hi just to see where this dream would lead me.
Figuring this was nothing more than a crazy dream I confidently walk up to them and sit on an empty swing. "Hi." I said with a quick smile and a wave.
"Hi." They both replied back giving me a glace.
"So does anyone know what we are doing here?" I asked casually as I looked around at the playground.
"No." The girl replied in a calm careless tone. "We shouldn't worry. This is just a dream." She replied without giving me a second look and began to swing.
"Reality is so much harder to deal with and dreams give you freedom from all the expectations of life." The boy agreed.
They both appeared to be enjoying this dream more than I was. I glanced back over at the monkey bars just to notice a very tall man! I mean like a nine foot tall man! If that wasn't enough his skin shined like glitter! His eyes were a glowing gold color and he was well built. He look like he could crush us with one punch! At first my mind was trying to understand what I was seeing. Struck with fear and awe I just stood there in shock with the other two.
That was until he spoke. "Do not fear! I have came to deliver good news! The Lord favors you, children of God." He replied in a cheerful child like voice. His voice reminded me of a character from the old cartoons my grandmother would play for us during the holidays, lioness from Peanuts. If it wasn't for the fact that he was so big I would of let out a chuckle.
"Are you an Angel of the Lord" The boy asked.
"Actually, yes!" He declares giving me a glare as if he knew what I was thinking. I quickly looked down feeling completely intimidated by his presence. "I am Gabriel and I come with a message from the most high. You children have been chosen to be the defenders!" He announces trying to sound more assertive. He failed miserably.
"Defenders? Defenders from what exactly?" I asked more confidently. My face looking confused.
"Defenders of the chosen from....well...the rebels." Gabriel explained. "It's time for you kids to go back now, but I will return with more instructions."
Suddenly I woke in my bed with the alarm going off. " What a messed up dream!" I said to myself, but the truth was that the dream was so real that reality felt fake. I was still confused on what he was trying to tell me about being a defender and I really didn't think I wanted to know.
