Letters to a Soldier

Daniel sat in his favorite recliner, with a glass of water in one hand, and letters from Patricia in his other hand. Reading them all for the first time since at one point, Daniel was a P.O.W, the letters were returned to the Lomaz home, and Patricia had placed them neatly in a folder, arranged by the date they were written or sent back. Daniel had stumbled across them from simply cleaning up the office.

*My Dearest Daniel, No words could truly begin to explain how much we miss you and need you. I haven't heard word from you, and it worries me to no end. I've prayed every single night for you to come home. I just hope that God hears my prayers. Being without you has made me physically and emotionally sick and although very nice looking gentleman approach me in a mannerable way, have nice things, none of that matters to me love! I tell them all I'm emotionally unavailable. And they still try to woo me Daniel. But their advances don't even sway me to receive their phone numbers. I don't even give it second thought my love.

I'm deeply in love with you and I didn't have the chance to tell you before you left. And everyday I kicked myself for not telling you, for not blocking the door more. I didn't think I could ever love again or truly fall IN love at that Daniel. Nathan stops over a lot more since you've been gone. You must have really beat him up badly cause now he won't stop asking about us and stepped up as a parent, him and his fianceé. Which is great, Destiny knows who she is and calls her, her play buddy. Its funny and cute.

Just so much seems to have been going on, and being here wiithout you just sucks. An elder of the family spoke randomly at a family function. And he said some things that made me want to run to the Carolinas and pronounce my love ha ha. He said he knew he had to limit contact with his old co-worker, cause he started finding himself attracted to her, that it became this inappropriate attachment when he knew he should've been focusing on his wife & that he thought flirting was so innocent but didn't really know that the lady was taking more of that flirting in a different manner and that he liked the attention. Baby he said one day his wife asked him to limit his contact with the co-worker, not to work late if he really didn't have to, but he disagreed and that he didn't realize that his heart was already committing adultery. I know you're thinking like "babe what does this have to do with anything?"...its just that I trust you and I know you trust me, so I started a new job that pays more, because the man you asked me to stray away from did want more than just a friendship. And I felt so bad for not listening to you when you said you KNOW other men and how they operated when all along I thought he was a cool guy. I don't ever want to disrespect what we have Daniel, because at this point...you're all I have. You and what's ours. Yes OURS.

I thought of my place as yours, Destiny is yours, and...well, I'm yours. My heart pumps and bleeds love for Destiny, you & our new puppy, Tinkerbell...oh yeah Daniel we got a new puppy, she's a boxer that won't grow. So she's so tiny, but she licks on your picture a lot, trying to take my love ha ha.

Well I must stop writing or it'll be a *4-page Letter* like Aaliyah ha ha. I pray this gets to you my love.

Daniel held onto the letter and approached the bedroom doors where Patricia was undressing from a workout. He looked at her with the letter in hand, and at that point she instantly knew which letter he had read.

"You quit your job, for us?"

"Daniel..." Patricia leaped into his arms, serving him with an unplanned seductive kiss that led to hours of love-making and tears of joy.

Love will make you do right even when things are wrong.
