The Lost Daughter

Chapter 3 (First Shift)

Everyone, it is officially time for everyone to go home tonight. And remember no one is allowed out of their homes after 11:45. All she-wolves that are close to giving birth should stay at the hospital tonight with their mates. The only people allowed out of their homes would be the guards; Ahtrayus, Codi, and Lizzy. Jacqueline and I will stand watch from the top of the pack house as well as Esme and her brother Jasper. They have shifted together and now what it’s like for a Crystal to shift. We shall see you all tomorrow at their birthday party. We shall also be celebrating Atrayus with them. Good night.” My father, Curt, said. Everyone walked to their homes. The three of us walked in and changed into our sweats so that it wouldn't be a waste of our good clothes. As we walked outside, I felt Nora moving around in my head. She is ready to be let out. My parents think we are the Saphire twins because most people can't communicate with their wolves till they are 21. But as far as we know, only Codi and I can.

I walked outside and saw the moon. It is already 12:58 when we finally get to the spot we are to shift. And I can feel her it hurts. I feel the need to be close to both of them. All of a sudden, they are both by my side. Codi growls as Atrayus gets closer to me. But I yelled "CODI ITS OK. I NEED HIM CLOSE TO ME . HELPS FOR SOME REASON.' Atrayus gets closer and my mind slows as well as my shift. I open my eyes and they glow sapphire.As soon as I open my eyes I see Atrayus, which is very confusing. But as soon as Codi shifts and I catch his scent, Nora says "MATE!" I am shocked and run into the woods with Jaxson and Atrayus's wolf following us. I am so confused. How is my brother, my mate, and my Atrayus of all people have the same colored eyes as mine?

"Lizzy stops, there has to be another explanation." Codi says through the mind link. Just as I am about to run faster, I hear my father. "Elizabeth, stop where you stand and return home. We will figure this out." A wolf can not ignore a Alpha's orders. I turned and ran back to the house, shifted into my human form and put my clothes on and ran into Codi's arms. They felt like home but they have always felt that way. I have always felt safe with him but him being my mate makes no sense at all. "We shall see what they have to say about this." Codi mind linked me. I was surprised at the sound in my mind. We have only been able to mind link with our parents up till now. "I agree they better have a good explanation," I told Codi.

As we walked into the house, I crawled into Codi's lap right after he sat down. Which is something we always do, so no one batted an eye. Except he buried his nose into my neck, which is new. And I calmed down instantly. His scent, which I am just noticing, smells of burnt amber and lether with a slight hint of pumpkin spice. Which, oddly enough, are all my favorite scents. I lean back into him and just let him do what he is doing.

As soon as my mother walks in the room, she notices that I am wrapped up in Codi like always, but she sees there is a difference. She doesn't say anything but I do notice the look in her eye that she knows something different. "Atrayus, we know that you were adopted and we will do a blood test to find out for sure, but we believe that you are the son of an Alpha and that Lizzy is not our daughter." my mother stated. We all looked at my mother shocked. "What the hell do you mean I may not be your daughter. Is that why Codi is my mate?" I blurted out.

As soon as I said it I realized they didn't know yet. To which my mother responded with, "We have thought you two were mates for a while. We have just kept it quiet because that would mean we got the wrong daughter back after the war." I was shocked to hear this and about that time the doctor walked in and asked to take blood from all of us in the room, including Codi, who hates needles and demanded that i stay in his lap while the doctor took the blood. He told us it would be 12 hours before we get the results.
