The Lost Daughter

Lizzy POV My name is Lizzy Blackwood, daughter of Alpha Blackwood of the Blackwood Pack. We are the biggest pack in Mississippi. Tomorrow I will be turning 21, which is when we can find our mates. My mom always said that the Moon Goddess wanted us to fully mature. My twin brother and I share a birthday. I have been told my whole life we look nothing alike. As a matter of fact, I don’t look like any of my family. But my dad always says that I look like the Moon Goddess in the photos. Our relationship has always been odd to everyone else. I have had nightmares since well as long as I can remember. So I have always slept with him in bed because it helps keep them away. I tried once, when we were 14, to sleep in my own room but I woke the whole house with my screams. I hope when I meet my mate soon, so that he can hopefully also make them subside. Today I will graduate from WU (Wolf University). I know the name is ironic, but we learn everything you learn in a human one, but only wolves and half wolves are allowed to attend. So I am getting ready and my best friend Freya walks in. She is half wolf and half witch. It is rare that one of us mates with a witch. But she is the best person I know. “b***h, what's taking you so long we need to be there in 20 minutes?” she says. As she walks into my room and plops down onto my bed. “Girl, you know I am always running late but I am actually almost ready,” I tell her as I put on my lipstick. I stand up and go out the door. “ You had better get a move on. I'm gonna be on time for once.” I yelled back as I reached for the door. I am about to get in the back of the SUV that is filled with security for me and my brother. You see, we are the last two children of the Blackwood bloodline, so we are to be protected at all times. Not that anything could ever happen to me. I haven’t even had my first kiss. My brother is always around. It's like he just knows plus all Alpha children all major in the samething business. So we have all the same classes and breaks. He always sits next to me and makes sure Freya sits on the other side and that our security sits in front and behind us. He has never really allowed me any kind of freedom. So I hope tomorrow he finds his mate early so that I might even have a chance to find mine. We get to school and, of course, the first person I see is my brother Codi. He is at the door ready to open it before the security can even get out of the car. He opens it and takes my hand and I feel the little sparks I always do. But we have always kept that tiny secret to ourselves. One time I asked our mom about it and she said to never tell anyone else, so I have always kept it between us. But we learned in our junior year of high school that it was a sign of a mate bond. I still think it’s kinda weird, but it has always been this way. We get to our sets and they proceed to do the ceremony. I started to get back in my SUV and my brother climbed in with me and told Freya to get in his and that they would take her home. “Codi, you can’t just toss Freya out anytime you want. She is my best friend.” I yelled at him as the vehicle pulled off. He takes my hand and just sits next to me while we head to the house where mom has declared that we must have a graduation and birthday party over the next two days. He looks at me and says “I just want to hold your hand just in case this is the last time we get to feel this between us. I know that sounds weird, but we have always had a very close relationship. If neither of us find our mate, I will continue to keep your nightmares away. We will turn tonight at midnight and I honestly hope you find your's first dear sister. I know the nightmares are unbearable. I wish there was a way to just take them away from you. But it seems to be your burden to bear.”
