Chapter 15 GoldenSometimes, I hated the feeling of rightness. The moment I said that Cynthia’s friend might be the bounty hunter, I knew I hit the nail on the head. It’d be good to confirm it with Hart, but it wasn’t necessary. I knew the truth. I put my arm around Cynthia and pulled her closer. This conversation hadn’t gone in the direction I wanted it to. We still hadn’t looked at any of the files I had prepared, but I needed to make sure Cynthia was safe, and she needed to know I would do everything to ensure it. “Send me her picture,” I told her and gave her my number. A few seconds later, my phone pinged, and I forwarded the image to Hart, asking if this was who he had hired to bring Cynthia to him. “She’s not a bounty hunter,” Cynthia insisted. “If she’s not, we’ll know soon.”
