The Letter That Broke The Spell

Zahra’s prov.

Ryder picked me up and gently put me on the bed I then got up and got ready for the meeting that we were going to have to see what the update on the rouges was. Ryder did the same and went to the office while I checked the kids to make sure they were okay, and then I met Ryder in the office.

As I entered the office, I saw one of the trackers that took my place when I left sitting in front of Ryders desk in a chair.

“Okay now that everyone is here what is this update you have for us?” Ryder said in a way that sounded more stressful then anything.

“The rouges are resting in this abandoned building in a dangerous territory called Satan’s Kingdom, but there’s more then just rouges, Demogorgon is there with his pack, vampires, fairies, warlocks, witches, and some creatures that I never seen before. They where training its like they where preparing for war.”

We were all silent for a while I told the tracker that he can leave, rest here, then go back to my godparents territory.

Once we were alone, I got up from my chair grabbed Ryders hands and put them on my waist then I straddled him and laid my head on his chest. He then moved his hands from my waist to my back giving me a hug. He lifted my head, so I was laying my head on his shoulder. He kissed my neck and breathed in my scent in a deep breath, and we stayed there for a while.

I could feel he was stressed and worried amongst other things. I finally got up and kissed him on the lips then his forehead.

“I will go check on the children to see if their asleep. I’ll be in the bedroom if you need me.” I said he nodded, and I left the office.

I checked on the kids and they were sound asleep, so I went to the bedroom to open the wrapped gifts my mother gave me. There was a picture book of my old pack at a party. I flipped through page after page until I came to one page in particular that had my birth parents and me in my dads arms. Johns parents were there, and John was in his mothers arms. Next to my mother while Mike, Johns dad, was standing on the right-hand side of my father.

A tear dropped from my cheek and onto the page luckily the picture was protected in a protected sleeve. I set the picture album aside and opened the other gift. It was some journals my mother’s and father’s journal. I opened my father’s journal, and a letter came out of it. I put the journal aside and checked my mothers and a letter came out of that one as well.

I sat the journals aside and opened my fathers letter first.

Dear Zahra,

Hello, my sweet angel I hope you are well. If your reading this letter it means that I am no longer here, however I know I will always be in you heart. I know It does not make anything that your going through any easier, but I wish you and Ryder a peaceful like. I knew Ryder was your mate when he questioned me about you. he is a strong alpha and I know he will protect you even if it costs him is own life, like it did for me and your mother. We are so proud of you we never doubted you and your ability to lead a pack. I hope you never change your ways; you are a good and kind person. Stay strong for me and your mother.

I folded the letter that has some tear drops on it and gently put it back inside the envelope it came in.

As I grabbed my mother’s letter Ryder came through the door. He sat on the bed behind me and pulled me into a hug and kissed my shoulders.

“I can feel your emotions even though you blocked me out. Do you what to talk about it?” Ryder said softly.

I can feel his chest vibrating as he talked with the sweet sound of his voice.

“My father and mother wrote letters and stuck them in their journals. Its almost like….like they knew they were going to die.”

I said in a chocked voice trying not to break down.

Ryder helped me open my mother’s letter because at this point, I was shaking from my crying state I felt hate in my heart, but I didn’t understand why.

I whipped my tears before I read my mother’s letter.

Dear Zahra,

I am sure your dad is going to write you a letter as well. So, here is mine. There is something important that I have to tell you, but I would not be able to tell you alive so I’m telling you this in a letter.

Please believe every word I say is true because if you do not you will never be able to control it. Your grandmother was an incredibly special power that is passed down. Since I died it has now passed on to you need to control this power and fast because you may not have much time to save them.

Your grandmother is the Moon Goddess herself since I died, I took over the thrown however, I cant hold this thrown for exceptionally long because it belongs to you.

You have the power of the Moon Goddess and you must find the witch that put the spell that hid it from everyone. She will teach you how to control it and use this power. However, it will come at a cost, it is not my place to say what the cost is. The witch will tell you. Her name is Ariadne. If you do not find her before the spell is broken, she will come to find you.

I am sorry I had to tell you like this and leave you by yourself to figure things out. You are strong but this power is stronger, and you might hurt someone close if you do not know how to use it. Please be carful and follow that path that your grandmother has put in your way. Trust in Kotori and od what she says. She is the guardian of your grandmothers wolf. I love you!

I Froze I did not know what to do with the information that was coming at me so fast. I stuffed the letter back in the envelope and got up and grabbed a lighter. Ryder followed me to the bathroom where I lite both of the letters on fire.

“What is the matter honey?” Ryder said confused on why I was doing this.

“My mother told me something that must be kept a secret so I m burning the letters. Its about my past. You know when we mark each other you gained my power and I gained yours to equal each other’s powers?” I asked him as I turned to look at him with a serious look in my eyes.

He nodded and then I continued, ‘Well I’m still stronger then you even you can sense it and you wondered why right?”

“Yes.”

“Its because….” To keep it a secret I told him in mind link.

“It’s because my grandmother is the Moon Goddess and because my mother died it is now passed down to me, I have the power of the Moon Goddess. I am also the next heir to take the throne of the Moon Goddess. Please keep this between us. Its for the safety of us and the whole pack.”

He was shocked and yet confused almost like he did not really believe me.

“Come one let’s get you to bed you need to rest.” He said with a tone that tells me di did not believe me.

I brushed it off and headed for bed. I laid there for hours not able to sleep because I was burning up. it was almost like I am running a fever, but I do not feel sick. I got up from the bed and stumbled my way to the bathroom then all of a sudden, I could not move or speak all I saw was pitch black because I kept my eyes closed due to sweat would burn my eyes when I opened them that is when I realized I passed out.

Ryders prov.

I woke up from a thump noise almost like someone falling to the floor. I looked over to Zahra’s side of the bed and I could smell sweat and Zahra’s scent was fuming from it. I noticed she was not there and got up to find her face down on the floor. I went to pick her up, but her body was on fire almost like it was too hot to touch but I made it to the bed and laid her down. I linked Clara to get over here asap.

Before I ended the link Zahra’s body started to float in the air with a blue light glowing around her. her hair was crystal white and her eyes where open, but they were black with blue sparks here and there.

Then her body gently laid back down, but her hair remain the same color of white and her eyes where now closed.

Clara showed up shortly after with Eric in toe. The first thing she did was check Zahra’s heart rate and asked us to wait in the hall. I wanted to argue but, in my head, I knew she had her best interest in saving Zahra from whatever was attacking her health wise.

We waited for about 20 minutes before she came into the hallway with a concerned look.

Clara’s prov.

Once the men where out of the room I checked her heartbeat it was beating abnormal for a werewolf then I checked her temperature it was really high for a werewolf temperature, our normal time is roughly around 120 degrees for a good day. When my patients are sick it normally runs around 135 degrees. However, Zahra’s temperature is hitting right at 160 I am concerned for her because I have never seen that kind of temperature in a werewolf in my whole career.

I started to be the pack doctor at the age of 15 I was my mothers assistant until she died from a sickness that no one knew about. When she passed, I took blood and came with a cure that saved hundreds of werewolves around our territory.

Now I receive all the young werewolves that want to become a doctor under my wing so I can teach them everything I know to save even more people, that was my passion ever since I was 10 years old.

I grabbed a cloth and went to the bathroom and ran ice cold water until it was soaked, I also grabbed a bowl I always keep just in case I needed a bowl of water and filled that with the cold water. I dabbed her forehead. I moved her to a dry area so she could rest, and I took off her shirt to put a dry one on her, so she was not laying in wet clothes that when I saw a strange burn like mark on her chest.

There was a snake like ring that covered her whole chest. I saw a symbol of a moon on top to the left of the circle was a wind symbol. At the bottom was a fire symbol and to the right of the moon was water.

When I touched it, she made a whining noise like it hurt her. I never seen anything like this in my whole life and I walked outside to give the men my finds of her wellbeing, after I put of a tank top because I know she would not have like her being exposed in such a manner of indecency.

Ryder prov.

She did not say anything for a while just looked, scared? She has never been scared of a patient’s condition, and that’s what scared me the most.

“What is it, Clara?” Eric asked before I did.

“Her heartrate is really high her temperature is 160 and there’s a burn mark on her chest that I never seen before. Ryder, I need you to come in to take a look and see if you have seen this mark and make sure she is decent enough for Eric to come and see because I am not sure what this is. Let alone what it is doing to her, also don’t touch it if you do it hurts her.”

“Okay let me go check if she’s okay for other eyes to see her.” I said.

I rushed in the room and saw her laying on my side of the bed breathing faster then I have ever seen anyone breath I called out for Eric to some and see the burn mark.

We both looked at if carefully not touching it so she could be as confrontable as possible. Eric was the first one to say anything.

“I’ve never seen anything like this my mother and father never mentioned anything of this mark either I would know seeming how my parents made me remember every mark weather it was a burn mark to a birthmark to marks from a battle.

I then remembered the letters that she was reading last night, and I ran over to where she hid them and grabbed the one from her mother.

“Do we have anything that tells us about the Moon Goddess?” I asked.

“Yes, our library is full of ancient books about the Moon Goddess they go all the way back to when the Moon Goddess was here on earth. Why do you ask brother?” Nyk said as she came to the door of the bedroom.

“Can you come look at this mark of Zahra and see if you have seen this before in one of those books?” I asked, well more like begged.

She came over to Zahra and looked at the marking. She then nodded her head and lead us to the library.

“That mark goes all the way back to when the first Moon Goddess was alive and living on Earth. Here take a look.” She said as she handed me the book, she got off the shelf.

I looked at the words and then opened up the letter from her mother to see if she said anything about how the Moon Goddess powers effect the body of those who possess the powers.

I read everything carefully and I got to where it said that her mother will not be able to stay in the throne for long. I looked in the book and it said something about only the purest of heart person that as went through hell and back will be the next Moon Goddess if she passes the final trial that the previous Moon Goddess as put in her path. If she does not succeed the powers will move on to the next female of that blood line.

I then read the rest of the letter her mother wrote, and she mentioned a witch named Ariadne and that she would help her control these powers. I then read the book and what I found was interesting the book mentions this Ariadne as the only witch who is wise enough to teach the female that possess the Moon Goddess powers everything they need to know.

“Eric, I need you to find someone for me I don’t know if they still exist or not. There is this witch name Ariadne she’s not only mentioned in Zahra’s mothers letter she is also mentioned in the book Nyk gave to me and look.” I said and pointed at a drawing of the same mark that is on Zahra’s chest.

“It says that Ariadne casts a spell on the female that is in the same bloodline as the Moon Goddess to protect them from what may happen if the female cant control it. It also states that once the spell is broken that this mark will appear on the women that Ariadne casts it on.”

I read the whole book through the night, but I could not find anything that will help Zahra with the pain and fever its almost like she has to bear it until it just becomes tolerable. I got to thinking about what she told me, and I should have believed her from the very beginning instead of thinking it’s the stress from the rouges spooking her godparents pack and the sleepless nights for when Kane was hungry.

I shook my head because I know its not the time for a pity party on me. I have to be strong for Zahra and for our children. Whatever the outcome is we will get through this together.

Eric knocks on the office door and walks in after I told him to enter.

“I am ready to leave is there any place that I should start?”

“I would go see Corvus he might know where she lives, if she is even alive, I don’t know how she has lived so long. This book was made well over thousands of years.”

“Okay I will be heading that away then call me if anything chances will you. Everyone is concerned about our Luna as well as I, so don’t leave me hanging on her condition.”

“I won’t you worry about that you’re the closest family that I have besides my sister anyway. I just don’t know how you put up with her.” I said with a smile knowing that Nyk was ease dropping.

“Hey, I heard that and if you know what is best for you, you will shut that mouth of yours.” Nyk said as she walked through the door of my office.
