8: My Boyfriend

1570 Words
"You know I hate the idea of this." I groaned.  "You're being silly. Get your a*s right here so we can 'A' this group work!" Ensley shouted into the phone. I winced, pulling the phone from my ear for a few seconds before returning it to it.  "Are you crazy? Do you want to deafen me?" A frown etched on my facial feature. "By the way, I'm outside your house now. Hurry up and open this damn door for me!"  "Oh, great! Jax and Julian are already here."  "Gosh…" I palmed my face.  In a jiffy, I heard sounds from the other side of the door then it was flung inwards, revealing a grinning Ensley in a pink miniskirt and white and pink-striped tank top. "You're finally here, I made muffins." She said excitedly, held my hand to pull me in, not bothering to shut the door. She started running, still grasping my hand.  "Slow down, Ley." I rolled my eyes at her but she didn't stop. I noticed she didn't halt in the living room but continued up the stairs then only stopped by the door step of her room. "Don't tell me you have…" my eyes widened. "...Julian—and J–Jax in your room?" I drew my eyes in askance at her.  "Duh." She shrugged nonchalantly.  "Are you crazy? Is your Mom aware of this?" I stood in akimbo.  "Duh, she doesn't care." She waved me off, opened the door and pushed us in, shutting it this time.  Jax and Julian were seated on one of the two sofas in her room with Julian laughing about something he just said while Jax had his attention to his phone.  "Hi, guys." She greeted. We both sauntered to them and had our seats on the other sofa.  Jax glowered at me for some reasons I couldn't seem to process. "Let's get to business." She clapped. "We can start by eating my beautiful muffins." *** We had been working on the stupidly stressful project for half an hour now. Well, it wasn't exactly stupid, it was kinda fun.  "Jax!" I snapped at him. He raised his head from his phone. "Will you do anything other than be on your phone and writing s**t down." I folded my arms across my chest.  "Lexi, it's really not a big deal." Ensley supported him.  "It is. Why do we have to do all the work and he does nothing?" "He writes down important things so that's at least something because it's very important to know the steps to follow." Julian shrugged.  "But—" I was lost of words to say. How the hell didn't they see anything wrong about him? "You have a big problem. You just do whatever you wanna do and I do my stuff. Remember, I hate when people poke their noses in my business." For once, he looked away from his phone, slid it into his front pocket.  "You—" I was interrupted by the sound of a knock from the door. Ensley jumped to her feet, sprinted to the door to open. "Oh, hi Mom." She beamed.  "Do you mind if I come in?" Her equally sweet voice asked.  "Sure." Ensley opened the door wider, permitting Mrs Spade to walk in. She had a tray with four glass cups on it.  "Hi, children." She said to us, lowered the tray to me.  "Thank you." I took a glass of whatever juice was in it, from the tray. She lowered the tray to Julian who also took a glass from it. Ensley stopped behind her. "Thank you, Mrs…" he trailed off, raised an eyebrow questioningly for her name.  "Oh, call me Mrs Spade." She waved a hand, lowered the tray to Jax.  "Mom hates her name so she doesn't let anyone call her that." Ensley rolled her eyes.  "Oh, okay." Julian nodded.  Jax reluctantly took the third glass from it and muttered inaudible words to her.  "Wow, such a handsome young man we have here." She waggled her eyebrows at Jax.  "Mom!"  "Ouuuu, is he your boyfriend?" Her grin widened.  "No, Mom." She grumbled. "He's Jax. You know— Lexi—,the thing I told you about…" there goes Ensley who told her Mom every single thing.  "Oh, wow. Lexi, you're damn lucky." She eyed Jax again.  "Mom, we have to resume work now." Ensley stated, grabbing the last glass and taking a sip of it.  "Okay, but you should take a break. Lexi, someone's here to see you." She announced.  "Here to see me? Who?"  "I don't know." She half-shrugged. "A young man." With that, she walked out of the room.  "I'll be back." I excused myself, left the room and hurried down the stairs. Who the hell could be HERE to see me? A smile spread my lips apart after I noticed Henry seated on a couch in the living room. "Henry? You're here?" I rushed to sit beside him, pulling him to a hug.  We separated from the hug; he took my hands in his. "Yes. I'm sorry to interrupt your work but I can't spend enough time with you because you're always busy with school work."  "I know." I whined.  "No problem. I only came here to sort out some family issues and I'll be leaving really soon. I needed to see you in person to tell you I'll be leaving." He circled his thumb on my palm.  "Aw, I wouldn't see you again till God knows when." A whimper escaped me.  He chuckled. "We'll see each other through the help of technology; video call..." He let go of my hands. "Right?" "Yeah, it's not the same as seeing you physically." I felt gloominess fill my entire body.  "You don't have to feel sad about it. At least I came all the way here just to see you." He wore an encouraging smile.  All I could do was sigh. I couldn't stop him from returning to college. Guess I had to wait till Summer break to spend enough time with him.  "You shouldn't be sad about it. My education is more important than anything. I'll become a successful person in future then take enough care of you." I palmed my face. "You don't understand." Study, study, study, stupid. "Okay." I forced myself to say. "I have to go now." He rose to his feet so I did the same. We held hands as I accompanied him to the door.  "Bye." I muttered glumly.  "You're still sad about this?" He ran a hand along his face. "I'll try to call you everyday." He tried to sound convincing but it wasn't working.  "Yeah, okay." I nodded. My gaze was fixed to the floor to further express my despondency.  "Bye." He raised my head by my chin to peck my lips.  I watched him as he walked away till he was out of sight. After another sigh, I returned to Ensley's room. My gloomy expression didn't fade away, definitely drawing attention.  I laid on the bed beside Ensley who now had a Teen Magazine in her hands.  "What's wrong?" She asked, setting the magazine aside.  "It's nothing."  "You can't say it's nothing when you look so glum." Julian stated. I only noticed that he and Jax had their attention on me.  "Tell me what's wrong. Who was here to see you?" Ensley sounded really worried.  "It's— Henry." I forced out.  "What did he do? What did he say?"  "He has to return to Canada, again." I sighed for the umpteenth time today.  "So? He has to study, right? How's that the reason for your moodiness? Are you lying to me?" "Why—" I was cut off by Julian.  "Who's Henry?" He asked with a quirked eyebrow.  "My boyfriend." The words rolled out of my mouth before I even noticed what I had done. I instantly regretted blurting that out from the way Jax and Julian bugged their eyes out.  "You have a boyfriend?" Jax started walking to me.  I sat straight in bed, scratching the back of my neck nervously. "Uh— yeah…"  "That's against the stupid contract, you know?" He said. Like I didn't know that already.  "Yeah… it's… uh…" I didn't know what to say.  "Oops, someone's stuck in a situation." Ensley bent her mouth sideways to whisper that to me.  "So you're fooling my parents to make them believe you're going to agree to this Contract?" He stopped right in front of me.  "No!" I shook my head. "We definitely agree to it."  "You can't say that when you have a boyfriend." He grasped my hand and pulled me up to my feet effortlessly.  I almost lost my balance but was able to stand firmly by pressing my palms against his rock-hard chest. Damn, it was so evident that he went to the gym occasionally. His face contorted at that. "Don't touch me." "Says the one who's holding my hand like he owns it." My eyes automatically rolled.  He also rolled his eyes but didn't let go of my hand. He gently pulled me all the way out of the room.  "Where are you taking me?" I groaned. "Oh no, please don't kill me, future Mafia leader." It sounded like a joke but I was being damn serious. Where the hell was he going with me?
