Chapter 5 : Dogs Bark

‘Help me ple-’

The man reacted and was just about to cover her mouth when she heard a loud bang behind him.

The man turned around to yell whoever was making all the ruckus to get lost.

His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets because the locked staircase door behind him no longer there. But instead ripped off its hinges fallen down.

“What-” before he could finish his words, he was suddenly yanked backwards away from her and he felt himself being slammed against the wall.

The man was in a dazed and his eyes lost focus as his head hit the wall with a hard thud. He felt something warm and sticky start rolling down the back of his head and in a hazy mind correctly deduced that was his blood slowly dripping down to the floor.

“DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO AM I?!” the man screamed at Zeus as he tried to get rid of Zeus’ hands from his collar that had held him.

To Zeus’ ears, it sounded nothing but a dog’s bark and punched him right at his abdomen causing him to hold his abdomen in pain.

“Are you even worth knowing ……..” He glared at the man with a gaze of trash to the mankind.

Zeus loosened his grip on the man dropped into a slump on the ground, heaving for air after tight hold on his collar. Without a word anymore he turned to look at the girl behind him standing there, frozen as her eyes looked back at him and at the man bleeding.

He could see a mixture of emotions in them fear, shock and confusion and he tore his gaze away from them as he checked for any bruises or scratches on her.

“Are you alright?” His ice cold voice woke her up from her frozen shock and her body started to react.

Everything happened so fast that she couldn’t process what was happening. All I remember is that I was taken by some man and … then ugly touches and … then… whatever happened started to sink in.

Athena shivered as her shoulders started to shake.

She just wanted to RUN away from this place. Get away from this place Now. But her body had kept her still frozen on the ground as she had a blank look on her face.

Zeus saw the horror written all over her face and he extended his hand to cover her eyes from the slumped man she flinched slightly in response before he could reach out to her, but instead turned away as he thought that Athena was now definitely too scared to even look at him. So he stood in between of her and the slump man blocking her view.

After a few seconds, he moved to turn around and to take her home. But before he could even take a step he felt her slender hands wrapped around

his waist as she hugged him tightly from behind.

He felt her head settle on his back and his shirt dampen from her hot tears, He could feel her whole body trembling from the shock of this experience.

He felt slowly relaxed as the rage from his body expelled and took a deep breath. As looked at the unmoved man in front of him and the woman hugging his back.

Zeus felt slightly uneasy at the unexpected turns of events. He was not a person who was capable of such kind of violence nor a person who knew how to comfort a crying one. So he silently waited for her to finish her tears.

He slowly turned around to look at her as he felt her hands loosen the hold just in time before she falls on the floor he caught her.

Athena fainted in his arms as tears were still flowing from her eyes.
