Chapter Eight Before long I was riding in the passenger seat of an eighteen wheeler, heading towards Boston. It wasn’t exactly the direction I wanted to go, but at least it was out of the city. After what I had been through for the past couple of months, any place would do. As I thought about it, I might be able to find another ride once we get to Hartford. There should be a lot of truckers heading west towards Albany. The driver was a talkative fellow and wanted to know all the gruesome details of my life. I left out much of the stuff, but he got the idea. After about two hours he pulled into a truck stop. “I think it’s about time that you pay for your ride. Why don’t we go back into the sleeper, so you can do your thing?” I made a deal and would live up to my part of the bargain. Bef
