The Wolf Branch Public Library had been one of Laura’s favorite places since she was old enough to toddle across the broad porch of the grand old Victorian house.
The original family’s wealth came from the same railroad that brought the town to life nearly a hundred and fifty years ago. No one knew for certain why they’d decided to dress the elaborate woodwork of the exterior in a striking combination of purple and gold with black accents, but no one would ever dream of changing the colors now.
