The king felt the path the mage had taken and decided to enter that way. He then was shocked, then even more angry that he couldn't get through.
He was getting madder and madder, he was the strongest on the planet, nothing should stop him. He kept at it, seeming to get closer and closer.
It was almost to the point that he was growing weaker when he felt the human. He also felt the six aspects and the six shields.
Even as he lost consciousness, the king was planning to send as many troops as he could to destroy the human. The human was growing too strong and needed to die.
Dan had felt the intrusion as some very strong power had tried to penetrate his defenses. It had taken all his shields combined to keep the power away.
All my female companions were holding their own counsel away from me. I started to say something, then felt the drain from defending us.
I heard a few gasps as I started to go down. I looked at all of them as they were concerned around me. "I kept that ass of a king out, but it took all I had."
That was the last as I fell against them, damn I felt weak, he thought. All eight of the females with him rolled their eyes as they eased him to the ground. Well, he was stronger, though not enough it seemed.
Maybe they thought it wouldn't last as long this time. They hoped though it was more than several hours before his eyes flickered open.
"You know you keep this up? You're never gonna find out what you need to do," Kim'ta said.
"We realized that you need to use them to strengthen them, but you're pushing it a bit too far," En'tra said with a smirk on her lips. "Keep this up and all hope will be lost when we lose you."
Dan was about to speak when a message popped before his eyes. {you have gained the spell double ice shield}
OK, Dan thought that should come in handy, he just needed the others. You have gained the spells, double flame shield, double water shield, double light shields.} Dan thought they were done when more popped up. [You have gained the spells, double Air shield, double shadow shield.]
Dan's mouth hung open as he stared at the new spells. Most would be possible, but a few were going to take a lot more energy.
All the females noticed as soon as his mouth fell open. "Dan!" He heard all eight of their voices raised toward them.
He looked toward them, then down at himself. Was he still injured, what was wrong?
"The last time we saw you looking like that, something bad happened," Gre'ta said. "Even I, who hasn't been here that long, can recognize when something is wrong."
He could see that they were concerned as he opened his mouth. "I just received another spell, to all my magic," he said.
"Wait," En'tra started. "How many of your magics now have seven spells?"
Dan pulled up his magic/spell window and started to count. "Let's see," he started. "One, two, three it looks like."
All eight of his companion's mouths dropped open. "I need to report this to Queen Ad'ella, especially with you now having three high-level spells," Gre'ta said.
Tygan, Marlena and Shae'ten also decided to report back to their elders. Dan was a little bewildered by this but sat back to rest more.
He knew that Kim'ta, En'tra plus both of the twins, really had no one to report to. For now, he hoped that the first two wouldn't be in any further trouble.
The other three returned shortly with astounded looks on their faces. Oh s**t, Dan thought, hope that this wasn't as bad as it appeared on their faces.
The closer they came to him, the worse he felt that something bad was going to happen. Standing up, he drew upon all of his double shields, all of them appearing in the visible range.
With a low, dangerous voice, he spoke to all eight of them. "I warn all of you, two of you have already tried to kill me. I guarantee all of you may take me down, but I will end most of you!"
All of his companions backed away as they could see all of his shields manifesting. The look of shock on their faces caused him to pause a moment.
"Dan? We aren't trying to kill you," Gre'ta said.
"Father is happy that you are this strong," Marlena said.
"The elders said that they will lend you help, if they can beat this disease," Tygan said.
All of them backed further away, afraid that Dan just might destroy them. Dan shook his head as he felt pure rage coursing through his body and head.
Two soft hands startled him, "Dan," came Ella's voice. "They are your friends, as are Bell and I."
"Please Dan, as powerful as you are now, there's not really any that can hurt you," Bell said on the other side.
Dan felt the rage die almost as if it hadn't been there to begin with. Then to his surprise, Ella and Bell both kissed him at the same time.
Dan could only stare at both of them, when the hell had this developed? Then to his further amazement, the other six kissed him.
Dan could only stand there for a few moments, stock still as he took in all that had just happened.
Ella and Bell looked at the others as they all either smiled largely or giggled. "I think he's a little stunned. Don't you think Bell?" Ella asked.
"Yeah, he does seem a little shell shocked," Bell said.
Dan, still a little out of it, looked at all eight. "When did this happen ?" he asked.
"Well," Gre'ta started. "It might be because of all that you have healed so far."
"It started then for me," Marlena said.
Dan thought a moment, then looked at Tygan, "Would your people allow me to heal them? I'm afraid that the king might attack them."
Tygan thought about it as she went into a telepathic talk with the elders. A few minutes later she turned to Dan.
"They believe that they can keep it hidden though there are a great many sick there. If you can help, I'm sure they'd be more than grateful," Tygan said.
Dan stared at her a moment, then he nodded, reached out, then pulled all of them into the shadows. A few moments later all of them appeared outside Tygan's village.
There were more than a few of the elders waiting for them. Dan was unsure of what to say or do as they all stood there. A moment later Tygan ran to a similar-looking young white elf throwing her arms around him.
"Brother! I am so glad to see that you are so healthy. I thought that you were still sick and recovering," Tygan said.
"I have made a full recovery sister. It is good to see you again," her brother said. "Is this the one? The one that healed me?"
Tygan turned and followed her brother's eyes. "Yes, let me introduce you to Dan. He reminds me of the stories of the Archmage."
Her brother's eyes grew wide as he felt the power coming off Dan. Many of the elders backed away slightly as they also felt his power.
Dan then took them aside as he informed them of the elf king's actions. All of their eyes grew large as Dan described the horror that the king had perpetrated.
He also mentioned that they had managed to save several hundred people. A fact that they all saw that was weighing heavy on him.
The highest elder nodded as Dan went through the story. "To save even a few is far better than sitting back and watching them all die. At least you cared enough to try."
Dan nodded, still feeling the anguish and pain of all the deaths. "I worry that me helping you and this village, might doom you."
The elder smiled as he told Dan that they really didn't have a problem hiding from the king. This surprised Dan as he thought the king was too powerful for them to hide.
"Actually, he has ignored us as we aren't in white elf territory," the elder said.
"What?" Dan said, shocked at this information. "Just whose territory is it?"
"Most of this area is a free section that any race is welcomed in," the elder said. "The only problem is responding to any attacks, "the elder said.
"I take it that there is really not much protection then?" Dan asked.
The elder shook his head as he and Dan made their way further into the village. "We only number as few thousand here really of no concern to the king."
"I just hope that me healing all here, won't put you and them in more danger," a worried Dan said.
The elder smiled as he nodded, "I feel that we are more ignored than most."
Dan smiled back, though was more worried than he actually felt. Further into the village, Dan saw that almost all the elves were sicker than he thought.
It took quite a long time before the elders could get most of the people to come to be healed. After two days, they were convinced that they had most of them.
Dan decided that, after all the hassle that they had, he might not go to as many elf camps for a while. He thought about the true stubbornness of people that would rather die than be helped.
The elders thanked Dan before he and the others started to walk out of the village. They were walking for a few hours when they entered another heavily forested area.
Dan and the others were suddenly on high alert as they felt that they were being watched. Dan wasn't sure where it was from, but the size was definitely not a small party.
They had traveled a few more hours, almost feeling that they were being herded to a certain point. It was when they came to a large clearing that the ambush was sprung.
From the north, a huge number of Goblins attacked. From the south, Orcs appeared driving another army of Goblins. On both east and west Trolls appeared with several spectators.
All of his companions released their one spell towards all the enemies. This took out the first line of attackers as they kept coming.
There was suddenly a manifestation of all Dan's shields around them that stopped their attackers cold. Back in the king's palace, his mouth dropped open as he felt the high-level shields.
He growled as he felt that some were far stronger than before. Then the king's eyes opened wide as he felt the high-level shields grow stronger.
He then upped his power to a level he hadn't in a long time. The king then tried to push through all the resistance that seemed to push back on him.
The king screamed as he decided that he wouldn't be defeated this time. Dan felt the most pressure that he ever had, deciding to push back, then nearly losing his focus.
In the palace, there was the sound of numerous running feet entering the throne room. A moment later all that had entered were blown back out the door.
The king was nearly screaming that he was the strongest and no one could defeat him. The sheer amount of power that the king was throwing out kept them all out of the room.
The multitude tried many times, being repeatedly thrown out of the room. Finally, almost an hour later with the largest part of them unconscious, the palace grew quiet.
The king's main mage walked into the room wondering what had happened. He was still on his mission to discover who the human was and why he was here.
He shook his head at the condition that the king was in. He was actually glad that he hadn't been there or there was more than a chance that he'd be dead.
All of this was caused by the human that had appeared, he had to find a way to defeat him. Looking at the king, he nodded, then turned and left to resume his mission.
A dark presence noticed the elf as he was leaving the palace. Could all this have something to do with the missing dark elf? The dark presence followed the elf at a safe distance.
The light elf spun, reaching out to find what he had felt. Almost as fast as it had appeared, it seemed to vanish.
The now suspicious elf started trying to lose whatever appeared to be following him. The problem was that no matter how fast he went, it seemed to stay with him.
A smirk came to his lips as he finally felt what it was, or rather who it was. He stopped in an alley as he called out, "Have at me, you dark evil."
A large swoosh sounded as a dark female landed in front of the white elf. "Such a good little elf, perhaps I should just mind rip you to gain what I need."
"You could try you evil piece of trash. I am far stronger than you think," the white mage growled.
"We should join up and find out what has caused all this trouble. After all, it appears that we may be on track for the same thing," the dark elf woman said.
The light elf mage thought a moment then smiled wickedly, "Jo'kan mage to the king."
"Cre'sa mid-range dark elf priestess to the shadow clan," the dark elf said.
Jo'kan smirked, he'd expected a higher magic user. "So the clan couldn't send better?" he smirked at her.
Cre'sa's eyes narrowed as she hissed at the white mage. "Watch your mouth, human!"
"Ah! I see how you are," Jo'kan again smirked, "only able to throw insults."
Cre'sa's eye widened a moment as she motioned and blew the white mage off his feet. She was also blown off her feet as he had motioned himself at her.
Both came to their feet with a look of rage in their eyes, then they both smiled at the other. Then they dusted themselves off as they nodded to each other.
"So," Cre'sa started, "it appears that he sent an actual useful mage."
Jo'kan nodded a moment, though there was a slight look of guilt on his face. "I was about to say the same thing. I haven't met many dark elfs that were worth their weight, let alone their magic."
Cre'sa's eyes again went wide as Jo'kan snickered, then was flat on his back groaning. A moment later, Cre'sa herself was flat on her back groaning the same.
Jo'kan stood and approached the dark elf, "I guess we could have a pissing contest the rest of the day. Then again, as you suggested, we work together to end the threat of the human."
"I agree the human has displayed that he has dark power. The clan is not pleased, especially since he has already used Shadow Death, a banned magic. None outside our clan know of it," the dark elf said.
"Shadow death! In fact, it is banned from all the world, so, that was what I felt," Jo'kan said almost in a whisper.
"Wait! You felt it? That's impossible unless there was a grievous loss of existence," the shocked dark elf said.
Jo'kan's head dropped as he nodded. "I was monitoring a group of punished wraiths. I... I felt a strong dark magic spell, I felt the wraiths shriek, then they...they were gone. This was the first time I felt the dark magic. I felt them then they were just gone as if they never existed."
Cre'sa's mouth was hanging open, this was truly a tragedy. She herself, along with the entire clan, had felt it used a second time near a Harpy village. She had managed to feel the nine lives that had been rapidly snuffed out.
Cre'sa also knew something that not many knew. The second time that the dark spell had been done, the caster had been extremely close to it. If the caster was still alive, then they were most likely insane.
A sudden realization hit her as she was thinking about it, shuddering if the caster was the human she'd heard of. Plus, he'd had survived the cast, he was far stronger and deadlier than any their world had ever seen.
Cre'sa shook her head as she cleared her thoughts. There was also the fact that her weaker sister dark elf had gone quiet. At this rate, they might be missing two priestesses sooner than they thought.
Dan drew a deep breath as the attacking group all his double shields up. The problem was that they were drawing a hefty amount of magic power.
The females with him were using their aspects though those that were attacking seemed far stronger than them. Dan was starting to feel that they might die here as the rage and anger started to grow within him.
A few moments later the ground under the east trolls became a lake of lava. All the trolls screamed as they vanished in a few moments. Those on the west side stopped at the horrific screams of those across from them.
The other set noticed that Dan had turned their way. Emboldened, the west trolls started to push harder toward the group. They also started to scream as they sunk into the lava pit that formed below them.
Dan saw that this hadn't deterred the goblins at all. In fact, it appeared that the orcs were trying to drive the goblins harder.
Almost all of his shields were failing after using lave twice. Dan saw that his companions had trimmed a few of their attackers, though they were going to get through.
A huge surge of energy hit him as he drew his indestructible human sword of power. Dan's eyes went wide as a surge of power released from the sword up his arm then into his body.
A grim smile of determination lit his features as he charged to the south. The goblins and orcs seemed to smile as they thought Dan was going to sacrifice himself.
Their happiness and glee turned to screams of death and horror. Dan sliced his way through them as if they weren't there, leaving a wide swath through them.
Dan then turned and wove his way back through them with ease. He managed to send them running when he went through three orcs at the same time.
He then turned toward the north, a look of pure murderous rage shining in his eyes. It wasn't 'til he saw that a few of his companions had fallen that his rage reached new heights.
Dan started to glow a dark red hue that spread from his chest all over his body. A loud growl rumbled out of him as he turned directly toward those that were left.
His eyes glowed a golden color as he took a step, then vanished. A mere ten seconds later all the goblins and trolls fell sliced into several pieces.
Dan appeared behind them as the glow from him seemed to grow brighter. Dan hadn't felt himself move, he'd just done it.
He turned to see the hundreds that were dead, many in a good number of pieces. Not even panting hard, he saw that his last double shield faded as he walked to his companions.
Four of them were unconscious and Dan could see that they weren't physically hurt. Ella, Bell, Shae'ten and Tygan weren't that badly hurt. The other four were better though they were almost as exhausted.

Well, Dan thought that should help as he tried to move to each of them. Damn, Dan thought as his legs wobbled a bit at least they went up.
Still, Dan had to take care of them, they were his responsibility. He'd just finished when he again wobbled on his legs, then he swayed.
He had to stay awake too many of them were out. He wished that more of them had their shields though, what they had helped greatly.
It was at that moment that Dan heard a familiar voice that he couldn't place. "Are you all alright? Dan! Oh my god Dan!"
Dan thought they were under attack 'til he saw a familiar feline face appear above him. "Danea?" When the cat's face nodded, Dan smiled as he tried to lift a hand, then everything went dark.
