Chapter Six

Things changed for me within those few weeks. From that moment, I was thrown into so many things that kept be busy that I barely had enough time to think for myself. I was learning how to behave like royalty, speak like royalty, I was being measured everyday for two weeks up until my closet was filled with many dresses, skirts, and heels. Before I knew it, a month had officially passed.  "What are you doing?" I heard someone ask. I turned around to see the man wearing a crown known as my father.  Turning back around, I shrugged. "Absolutely nothing."  He chuckled. "Why do you have to say that so nonchalant?"  "Because that's a bad thing, Dad!" I said with a sigh. "I thought my life was boring back with my other family but this is just another level."  "It cannot be that bad."  "It is!" I exclaimed before throwing my body back in the chair landing with a thump on the floor. "There's just nothing to do! I've learned so much that my brain feels like it's going to explode!"  "That's a good thing." He replied as a woman gently took the crown off of his head before bowing at the both of us and exiting the room. He walked over to me and held his hand out. I grabbed it and he helped me up.  "It isn't a good thing. I want to cross back over." I mumbled.  He sighed. "I knew you were going to have a hard time adjusting to your new life especially since you had so much freedom on the other side but I cannot let you go now. I'm sure everyone knows who you are by now and I cannot allow you be faced with danger. We have enough as it is."  "Dad? Can we talk?"  "We are."  "I mean without you walking around doing other things."  He stopped at his desk and dropped the papers. I watched as he made his way back towards me and sat in the chair that sat directly next to the one I sat in. We stared out the window in awkward silence. He cleared his throat. "You have my attention. What's wrong?"  "I've been feeling extremely weird lately." I replied.  "Weird?" He asked with an odd expression on his face. "How weird?"  "I don't know how to describe it." I started. "I just feel as if I'm being watched constantly."  He stared at me for a bit before nodding. "I do not like the sound of this. I will be sure to let the guards know."  "Thank you." I whispered.  He stood up and grabbed my wrist pulling me up towards him. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into a tight hug. "I couldn't protect you or your mother back then but I will do everything in my power to protect you now."  "I know." I mumbled into his shoulder.  He pulled away and gave me a soft smile. "Go and get some rest."  I nodded my head softly before exiting the room. I walked around the huge dark palace towards my room in silence. Everyone had went off to bed and there wasn't a single voice heard amongst the halls. The only thing I could hear were my footsteps tapping along the marble floors. I pushed the two familiar doors opened and entered the dark room. I closed the doors behind me and tossed the heels off of my feet.  "Sick of these damn shoes!" I mumbled to myself. "Why can't I wear socks or something?"  "Why can't I wear socks or something?" I heard someone mock. I gasped and turned around to see a silhouette sitting in the chair near the balcony. She snapped her fingers and fire appeared causing me to gasp. She continued to do this as I stared at her in shock unable to move.  "Who are you?" I asked.   She chuckled. "If I were here to kill you then you'd be dead by now."  "Then why are you here?"  "I'm here to find out what exactly are you. Are you someone that Lucy sent as a way at getting under my skin? Are you a shape shifter?" She asked.  "What?"  "Why is it that I wake up and see my face plastered everywhere? People are saying that I don't belong in New York. I was confused at first because how in the hell are people managing to discuss me when I've been far away since forever!"  I scoffed in disbelief before placing my hands on my hips. "I don't know who the hell Lucy is for one and I have no idea what you're talking about? You're lucky that I'm feeling friendly and not telling my father about you sneaking your way into the palace."  She laughed. "I don't care! Tell him!"  "What?" I asked in shock.  "But before you do." She started as she stood up. She slowly walked out of the dark corner of the room as the light radiating from the moon shined brightly allowing me to see her face. "Tell me why you have my damn face?"  I gasped and jumped back causing a few of the items on my vanity to fall over. She rolled her eyes and flicked the lamp on as we stared at one another. She looked exactly like me. There was only a small difference which was our hair. She had jet black hair that was flowed down her back while my long jet black hair had a white streak going across the front. She wore a tight black body suit with red lipstick.  "Are you some type of shape shifting superhero?" I asked as I stood far against the wall away from her.  She stared at me for a bit before bursting into a full blown laugh. "This has got to be Lucy! He's setting me up. He's good."  "Who is Lucy?"  "Who are you?" She asked.  "I'm Princess Raine."  She rolled her eyes. "Ok! f**k! I know your name. Let's just stop and give me a second here."  "Where are you from?" I asked.  She turned faced me and pointed. "You don't get to ask the questions."  "You're in my home and in my room." I stated.  She looked around before crossing her arms. "Touché."  "Carry on."  "I am Rayne Munroe. How do you not know who I am? The plane crash of Flight 74 was everywhere." She mumbled.  "I heard of the crash. I never looked into it as much though." I replied.  "I kept hearing those fools say that there was someone walking amongst everyone else who looked identical to me but I thought they were lying. I kept hearing so much about it that I decided to come up and see for myself. As soon as I touched down, I was seeing pictures of myself plastered everywhere. People were saying that Princess Raine has returned to the kingdom and there was a family being interviewed. I immediately went to you because I needed answers."  "A family being interviewed?" I asked with wide eyes.  "Yes. There was a woman, two girls, and a boy."  "What was said?"  "The women spoke highly of Journee saying how she was a smart and talented girl and they were happy that she had returned home. As for the boy, he seemed to only care about his few seconds of fame. I think his name was Chase." She said. "Trust me, he has a special place where he's going."  I rubbed my face before sighing heavily. "What is actually happening right now? What do you mean by walking amongst?"  "Oh yeah!" She exclaimed as she touched a few of the portraits on the wall. "I'm the ruler of Hell."  "The what?"  She rolled her eyes. "Oh my God! Look what you just made me do! I just called out to him!"  "You're crazy!"  "I am the ruler of hell! Lucifer also known as Lucifer stepped down as the ruler. He and his dysfunctional relationship with God was repaired and that's where I came in."  "So where's Lucifer now?" I asked obviously not believing a word she said.  She shrugged. "I do not think he's in heaven but hey you never know. I do get a few visits from him here and there."  I pointed to the door. "Exit. Get your crazy ass out of here!" She laughed at me and sat on the edge of my bed. She snapped her fingers as fire ignited from her finger tips causing my mouth to drop open in disbelief and shock. "I think not. I'll be residing here until we can figure all of this out."  "How did you do that?" I mumbled.  Rayne stood up and made her way to the other side of the bed before untucking the sheets. "Shall we be sleeping? I call this side of the bed!"  "I'll sleep elsewhere."  "I'll light that damn door on fire now get your ass in the damn bed." She threatened through gritted teeth. I awkwardly tip toed towards the bed before climbing in it. Rayne smiled brightly and got in next to me before shutting the lights out.
