Their Omega Brother.

Chapter 3: Meanie.

Lin Xiao had spent three days hiding away in his room,a sanctuary he had found comfort in. And now as he found his way to the dining room for the first time,it felt like taking a major decision in his life. At some point he wanted to turn back and hide away in his room but considering Dai Zeyu's reassurance he felt like he could face it.

The moment he stepped into the vast dining room,his boba eyes widened for a second taking in the aesthetics. The room wasn't like the breakfast nook back at his grandpa's house. The table was large with several chairs arranged neatly on either sides, sumptuous dishes were laid out meticulously on expensive table cloths. He could have taken more time to explore the place if not for the people seated there.

Dai Yi was the first one to look up looking at him with an unreadable gaze. The others noticed his presence right after,five pairs of eyes landing on him. The omega quickly averted his gaze,hands clutching the sides of his pants tightly,a wave of anxiety washing over sending a cold chill down his spine.

"The bastard finally came out of his hole," Su Yao lampooned.

The omega's cheeks flushed crimson with shame,tears poking at his eyes.

"Mom stop it," Dai Zeyu spoke up firmly.

Su Yao scoffed at his words,"So you're now defending the omega bastard ?" She ridiculed.

Dai Zeyu ignored his mother's words,not wanting to engage in further altercations with her, shifting his attention towards the sad omega.

"Come here," Dai Zeyu called out gently, gesturing to the empty seat beside him.

Lin Xiao walked closer with slow hesitant steps. When he reached there,he perched himself on the seat sinking into the chair. The caring alpha didn't bother to summon a maid ;he grabbed a clean bowl and served all the omega's favourite foods which he had found out within their three days together.

"Eat up," he urged softly with a smile, placing the bowl in front of the omega.

The omega grabbed the bowl and stuffed food in his mouth greedily,cheeks puffed out as a chipmunk with nuts. When he glanced up,his eyes met with Dai Shiyuan's dark eyes ,a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Little omega looks like he could eat a horse," he teased.

Thanks to Dai Zeyu's unwavering care that Lin Xiao seemed to find an easy time at the mansion. Except for his stepmother's insults,his biological mother's nonchalance and Dai Shiyuan's cold attitude everything else was fine. Crying in bed every night worked like a ritual to let out his bottled emotions.

One night, after watching a movie with Dai Zeyu he went back to his room to sleep with a smile for the first time.Unfortunately,that night,he was trapped in a terrifying nightmare about his grandpa Lu. When he woke up he was drenched in sweat, his pajamas clinging to his trembling body ,a dry throat that he failed to get rid of no matter how much saliva he swallowed and sleep escaped him afterwards.

The omega stepped down from bed, slipping his feet into the blue fluffy slippers Dai Zeyu had gifted him. He trudged out of the room heading towards the kitchen. The kitchen was spacious and he spent a minute looking around and finally spotted the large two doors fridge. His small soft hand yanked the door open the cool air hitting his face. His eyes scanned the different types of drinks stacked inside till they landed on the bottles of water. He grabbed one but when he grabbed the door ready to close it he felt a strong force pulling it back. He scrunched his nose in confusion and looked up through his long lashes.

Dai Shiyuan stood there,tall and hovering leaning on the open fridge door.His intimidating gaze locked the omega in place, goosebumps rising on the omega's fair skin.

"Shiyuan -ge," the omega mumbled out, wetting his lips.

Within one swift move,the alpha yanked the omega close , shut the fridge door and pinned the omega against it. Lin Xiao gasped in shock, batting his eyelids,a wary expression on his beautiful face.

"First time not seeing tears in your eyes," The alpha said in a low taunting voice leaning closer.

Lin Xiao gulped hard and quickly lowered his eyes ,a wave of humiliation coloring his face. He pushed himself hard against the fridge door as if it would shield him from the alpha.

"I'm not always crying," he defended himself in a low voice as if he wasn't sure of himself.

The alpha chuckled derisively at the omega's words,"Even if you cry a river my mother will never spare you from her insults. Also stop bewitching my brother with that fake innocent face," he said sneering at the omega.

If anything Lin Xiao had found out within the few days he had stayed at the mansion was that Dai Shiyuan was very possessive of his twin brother. Dai Zeyu was the only person he truly cared about,the one that mattered to him the most in his life. Another thing was that the omega had this instinctive feeling that the younger alpha had a strong dislike towards him.

The omega recoiled in terror, biting his lip hard drawing blood to stop himself from crying.He didn't want to appear weak infront of the alpha.

"Are you gonna cry now?" The alpha goaded him.

" What's going on here?" A velvety voice interrupted the two.

Dai Shiyuan instantly stepped away from the omega, brushing his hair back and chuckled awkwardly," I was just teasing him,"he said airily.

"Meanie," the omega humphed, glaring at the younger alpha and ran towards the older alpha snaking his arms around the alpha and broke down.

"What happened?" Dai Zeyu asked worriedly, hugging him back. The omega shook violently as he wept. After a while,the alpha pulled away his eyes scanning the omega. The alpha ran a thumb over his cheeks wiping away his tears.Lin Xiao blushed at the gesture.

" You're bleeding,"the alpha pointed out, swiping his thumb over the omega's lower lip.

Dai Shiyuan watched from the sidelines his face scrunched in disgust.

"Such a cry baby," the younger alpha snorted walking out of the kitchen.

" Why were you in the kitchen in the middle of the night?" Dai Zeyu probed.

"I had a nightmare and I couldn't sleep," the omega uttered hesitantly. He hated being weak and being a burden on the kind alpha.

"Let's go to my room. I'll cuddle you to sleep," the alpha whispered softly.

The omega wriggled in his arms, reluctant to accept his help,"I don't want to trouble you."

"Silly. You're no trouble at all," the alpha said chuckling fondly.

When they reached his room,the alpha invited him to his comfy king-sized bed and the omega snuggled closer seeking comfort.

"You smell so good," the omega said with a muffled voice.

The alpha chuckled softly," You smell good too. Like strawberry candy,"the alpha said in a sincere tone.

It didn't take long for the omega to drift into sleep,his soft snores filling the quiet of the night.
