Chapter 25
I packed most of my clothes in my biggest box leaving the rest of my things locked safely in my locker. I called on Eniola whom we were now a little bit cool with eachother and asked if she was through with packing. We decided to go home together since nobody was coming to pick me, dad called to tell me that he travelled and so I'd have to go home by myself.
Queen already left immediately we finished our christmas carol the previous saturday, her mum came to pick her up. She stayed with her single parent on island. Most students had left too leaving only few of us in the hostel, most of whom were also leaving today.
After twenty minutes in the taxi, we got to our compound and dropped, music was blasting loudly from our apartment. Eniola and I exchanged looks before we went our separate ways.
I dragged the heavy box slowly up the stairs and as I got nearer to our apartment, the music got louder. Pamilerin ran towards me with joy as soon as she sighted me, she helped in carying the box rather than dragging and I felt so relieved.
I was shocked at what I met in the house or was I supposed to say who? Two guys and a girl were totally focused on smoking a wrapped paper when I walked in and the table in front of them was filled with alcohol bottles and unwrapped papers with some substance in it.
"Who are these intruders?" I asked my younger sister who responded that they were Tomiwa's friends.
"Fine girl! You no even fit greet people wey u meet inside house? U no get manners?" One of the guys said with a very unfriendly and hoarse voice.
I simply hissed deciding to ignore them and proceeded to just go into my room but Tomiwa appeared in front of me, she came out of the kitchen.
"Oh, Tiwa, you are back from school? How are you?" She greeted as if everything in the house was perfectly normal.
"Tomiwa, how could you being smokers into our house? Just how dare you? And what sort of music is that you are even listening to? Everything it has been saying is just about s*x, what example are you laying down for pamilerin?" I snapped as I took the remote on the shelf and turned the speaker that was blasting Niniola's song off. That song was a total nonsense.
Someone had to be the adult in the house and if Tomiwa refused to act like one, I'd gladly take up the responsiblity. We can't all choose not to use our head.
"Ahnahn, am I now Tomiwa? Ehn, Tiwa?" She said clapping her hands thrice.
"Wait o, shey na we she dey call smokers? This pinishi girl? You no teach this girl manners o, If I reach there and slap you ehn, you will see your life flash before your eyes!" The same guy who talked before threatened.
"Don't even dare, Chris! You no say I no dey use my kid sisters play o! No even try am! Wetin dey worry you? You no see say na small girl wey no know anything?" Tomiwa defended.
"Ah, see this one! Shey na that big girl you dey call small girl? You'll be shocked at how many boyfriends this one get? I trust the boys of this century sef, they would have drilled a large hole in her! Abi you no see her fiftyfifty shoulder pad? Instead of you to allow me to cut those wings wey she get. Na that fine face and small bobbie (breasts) dey shack her!" Chris said giving me looks that scared the s**t out of me.
"Don't look at her like that, i***t! You wan do two sisters, abi? Womaniser! Na everything in skirt you go dey follow!" The girl amongst them snapped.
They all talked and looked like they were under an influence. I shook my head in disgust, that was my sister's boyfriend? Or one of her numerous boyfriends?
"Dad leaves you in charge for just two to three days and then you turn our house into a beer and hard d**g joint? Why am I even surprised? I just wonder how mum must be feeling if I am feeling this dissapointed and ashamed of you! You disgust me!" I expressed with anger as I stormed into my room.
"Why is this one now acting like she's the mummy now? Be forming good girl up and down o!" I heard her say as a tear rolled down my face.
Mum's absence was doing a lot of harm than good.
