Chapter 11
"Jesus Christ!" I shouted rushing out of the toilet as I ran into my room shaking profusely.
"Tiwa, o gini {what is it?} What did you see?" Queen asked jumping on her feet.
I was too dazed to even explain what I just saw.
"What else would she have seen in the toilet if not piled up 's**t' {feaces}." Kanyinsola said dismissively.
"No...no... It's not s**t this time o! I...I actually saw a...a b..baby." I stuttered.
"Chineke me, baby?!" Queen screamed as she rushed out of the room while my other roommates also ran after her shouting.
I also ran after them.
Someone else must have seen the baby because by the time we got there, there was already a crowd formed outside the toilet each person trying to get a good look at the baby who was already obviously dead.
"No one was pregnant in this hostel now!" A short chocolate skinned girl said.
"Who could be so heartless enough to do this? Look at this fine baby girl." Another girl said shaking her hard looking as if she is about to cry.
"How come we didn't even hear her cry?!" Queen asked looking confused beside me.
"Abi o? {I wonder}. The mother must have done this during the midnight!" Kanyinsola also buttressed behind me.
"But how did she manage to keep her pregnancy long enough for the baby to develop without been noticed? And who could it be?" Chinyere said trying to tiptoe and see the scene clearly.
So she talks!
"Oya! Everybody should go into their respective rooms immediately!" A voice boomed behind us as everybody scrambled rushing into their respected rooms and locking the doors.
No one wanted to get the blame, our supervisors were so stupid and desperate that they could just conclude that a random girl did it, not caring to investigate the issue.
We were all confused about the whole scene that as soon as we got into the room, nobody spoke a word for over thirty minutes. The room was as silent as a graveyard.
It seemed like we were all battling with our thoughts.
It was really unexpected and confusing! How on earth did a RPHS hostel girl get pregnant and kept a belly bulge without being noticed for so long and she even had the guts to actually give birth to the baby in a toilet. Wonders shall never end in this school.
The school would be trying so hard to make sure that this issue didn't get to the press because it could ruin its reputation.
But then could it really be kept enclosed in this school since almost all hostelites now know about it and as we all know that bad news spread faster than fire.
The police was definitely going to be involved, it wasn't a small issue.
But only God knows who could be capable of doing such a murderous thing, I thought as I looked around the room.
Could it be Queen?! No, there's no way I wouldn't have known, I have seen her n***d several times, her tummy I s very flat.
Could it be Kanyinsola, Hannah, Sarah or Dupe?
Or could it be Greatness or even the holiest Eniola, that girl could never be trusted, if she could actually watch p**n then I wouldn't be surprised if she is actually the culprit here.
And it could never be the small Aminat and Chinyere, the one that never talks, those girls were even yet to have visible breasts on their chests.
"You nko?{what about you?} Do you also have breast?" My inner voice mocked me while I decided to ignore it.
As if reading my mind, a girl from the next room rushed in as we all jumped up from our beds on impulse.
"O gini(what is it?)" Queen asked.
This one that is just speaking her dialect today, I don't understand.
"They found the mother!" The dark skinned girl whispered loudly as if she mustn't be caught telling us.
We all rushed out of the room almost tripping on each other to see whoever it was.
Nobody wanted to be left out.
