Chapter 1: The Wedding That Never Happened
The wedding march echoed through St. Andrew's Cathedral as Ariana Carter stood at the entrance in a breathtaking white gown. Her fingers trembled around the bouquet of white roses.
This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life.
Five years.
Five years of loving Jason Whitmore.
Five years of believing every promise he whispered.
Today, she would finally become Mrs. Whitmore.
The guests smiled as the doors slowly opened. Camera flashes lit up the hall while Jason waited at the altar in his perfectly tailored tuxedo.
Ariana took one step.
Then another.
Her heart raced with excitement.
Just before she reached the altar, her phone vibrated inside her bouquet.
She ignored it.
It vibrated again.
And again.
Her maid of honor leaned closer.
"Maybe you should check it. It could be important."
Ariana smiled nervously.
"It can wait."
But something didn't feel right.
She slipped the phone out.
An unknown number had sent three photos.
The first showed Jason kissing another woman.
The second showed them leaving a luxury hotel together.
The third froze the blood in her veins.
It was an engagement certificate.
Jason Whitmore.
Sophia Lancaster.
Engaged.
The date...
Three months ago.
The bouquet slipped from Ariana's hands.
The church fell silent.
Jason's smile disappeared.
"Ariana?" he called.
She looked at the man she had loved for five years.
Suddenly...
She didn't recognize him anymore.
Without saying a single word, she turned around and walked back down the aisle.
The guests erupted into whispers.
"Ariana! Wait!" Jason shouted as he ran after her.
She stopped at the church entrance.
Slowly, she removed the diamond engagement ring from her finger.
Then she threw it at his feet.
"I hope she's worth it."
She walked away before he could answer.
Outside, rain poured from the dark sky.
Ariana stood alone in her wedding dress, tears mixing with the rain.
She had no idea...
This wasn't the worst day of her life.
It was only the beginning.
