Chapter 5: The Trial

          Aella is safe now, she’s still in the hospital and unconscious. Timothy and Devian take care of her all night. The nurse scrubbing her skin to clean her body and when Devian saw her brown skin become paler and paler, he thought because she lost a lot of blood and the room is cold makes her look pale. At this day Timothy is not with them, he is running some errands.

Timothy’s POV

I’m at the company’s meeting room, we are having a meeting with the higher up officials of the Enigma, I am here to prove Aella’s innocence and defend her. The air around the room is cold and full of fear. They wait the Enigma’s arrival, until someone burst the door open and all of them are surprised! They saw a tall man with golden eyes, the Ruler himself attend the trial of Aella.

          This is bad, the Ruler is here. But no matter what I will prove her innocence, this is a matter of life and death.

The President greeted him with respect. The ruler greeted him with respect too. They both sat to the end of the long table and Ace’s body guards and assistant sat on the other side of the table facing the Government officials. Ace’s eyes are cold, he intertwined his fingers and rest his lips on the back of his hand, while his gaze is fixed on the hologram. (in the hologram is the picture of Aella’s stabbing the leader)

Assistant (Enigma): We are all here to discuss about the Invader’s attack at the Momento Museum. Agent Aella Ramirez also known as “Ace of Spades” kill the leader of the Invaders, she broke one of the laws in the Contract of World Peace. Rule #1: Never killed an Enigma nor Human, they will be handled by the officials of their own planet. If they are proven that they break the law, they will be received the punishment from their own kind.

“Now I ask what is the opinion of the 2 sides in this Topic. On the Enigma’s side is?”

Asked by the Assistant.

Enigma: Death

Assistant: on the Human’s Side is?

Human: Not Guilty

Assistant: Now both sides are given their different opinion. The Trial of the Ace of Spades begins!

The Defender of the Enigma (Kathlyn) a firm beautiful woman stands and start her report about Aella’s breaking the first law. The Hologram Changed and a Picture of Aella’s identity is shown.

Kathlyn: As you all can see this is Agent Ramirez, also known as “Ace of Spades” information all about her. Claiming the title of being the ACE OF SPADES means this woman is the most skilled agent in this planet. Yet, she must be aware about the sacred laws of the both worlds. She killed an enigma even she is aware that she has no rights to kill a another living person on another planet, even she is the most powerful agent you humans got.

A video appeared in front of us where we all saw how Aella fight the invaders while I’m reporting to the government officials and asks for back up. The video shows how she use the liquid vial to blast off the invaders, how she gracefully dodged the attacks, how she used the laser sword to cut the man’s chest who cried in pain and how she used the ray guns to stop their attacks.

One of the Gov. Officials: Aren’t she just trying to defend herself and others?

Kathlyn: We enigmas, doesn’t care if one of our kind is wounded, injured or almost died by you humans. But it’s still stated that as long as they are breathing or alive is good to us, but at this time she killed one of the invaders.

She speeded up the video and play it in the part where Aella challenged the leader to a duel.

Kathlyn: as all can see, she challenged the leader to a duel. She must be aware that this is a matter of life and death and if she didn’t win the battle, she’ll lose the bet. Even she won the battle by not killing the leader… they will flee, so her intentions must be killing the leader as soon as possible.

We watch the full fight, we witnessed Aella’s cleverness and her skills. Until she took the man’s dagger and stabbed him, the man fell… dead.   

Kathlyn: A proof that this woman is Guilty by killing one of our kind! Our side want life for a life. That’s all…

She bowed and take a sit.

I stand up confidently and take control of the hologram. I start my statement.

Timothy: I am one of the witness that Agent Ramirez is just defending our kind. When we saw the Invaders terrorize the Momento Museum, so we move in instinct. As an Agent we swore to protect our planet and the mankind even it costs us our life.

I play again the full fight of Aella in the hologram where she only has a ray gun and a laser sword.

Timothy: In this part, Ms. Kath states that she completely injured every member of the Invaders. But let’s look to another point, her stance is more on defensive and non-lethal offensive move. Meaning, she avoiding to kill one of them as she can. She fought 4 of them and she’s alone to fight them.

I pause where she used the laser sword.

Timothy: In this part where she cut the man’s chest, she can cut his head but she changed her body target.

I fast forward the video and play it again in the part where she challenged and stabbed the leader.

Timothy: Aella is a Clever girl, the leader found out that she is a threat to them, so he threatened her that if she didn’t surrender herself to them. He will kill the innocent people inside the museum, even they only want is to steal. She won’t like that to happened, so she challenged him to avoid bloodshed and killed him.

One of the Enigma Officials: Still he killed the man… nothing’s changed.

Timothy: She accidentally killed him… she didn’t think the man would be stunned a 1 more second before he regained his conscious. Aella is aware that the man can handle the Electricity immediately, she’s just aiming to put the dagger on his throat not to stabbed him.

          I change the video into the video of our own fight in Physical training. They all watch the end of our fight.

Timothy: See? It’s exactly the same move and body stance when she fought the leader, this is my evidence that killing the leader is not intended.

Ace: How are you so sure that she did not want to kill an Enigma? How can you prove her Innocence?

          All of us shocked that the Ruler himself asked me. I almost lose my focus because of his dark aura and his dark gazed to me. But I calmed myself down because I need to win this trial.

          I changed the video again and play the part where she tried to save a teenager where she got wounded from the attack. I smirked at him.

Timothy: Your Highness, this teenage girl must be familiar to all of your enigmas. Yes, she is one of the Invaders, at this time she can easily dodged the attack yet she’s aware that there is an Enigma behind her who should be the one will take the attack of her comrades. Yet, she rushed backward to her and save her from the glass shards and she pay the price by saving the girl with a deep wound. Now ladies and gentlemen, I will zoom the video so we can listen Agent Ramirez’s conversation with the girl.

Teen. Invader: Why did you saved me?

Aella: You don’t want to fight nor harm anyone do you?

The invader bit her lip in regret and nod at her.

Aella: Then flee as soon as possible!

Timothy: Aella is aware that she is one of the Invaders, but she still treated her with trust and kindness. At that moment, the girl can simply kill her or take her as a hostage but she didn’t. Why? The answer is in front of you. I rest my case…

*sigh* finally I finished my statement.
