Chapter 2: Bet

 The teacher finds out that the brown-skinned girl is sleeping during their exam. He goes to the girl’s desk to wake her up.

Mr. Ford: Aella wake up, wake up! If you keep sleeping you might not finish your exam. Just put the exam disc inside the driver hologram desk, so you can start to answer the 500 questions of the exam, you only got 4 hours to finish the exam.

Aella: Sir… don’t mind me and please give me some half an hour to rest because I just work late night… *Yawn*

The teacher sighed because it seems he can’t make this girl finished the exam. Later on, he got a bright idea that can make Aella finish her exam.

Mr. Ford: How about a bet.

When Aella heard the word “Bet” she looks so energized, like she didn’t remember what she said to her teacher a while ago. All of her classmates look at them, she smirked.

Aella: You know my language sir. What do you wanna bet?

Mr. Ford: If you got the highest score in your exam, you can sleep whenever you want in school. And you have my word that I won’t report you to the principal.

Aella: You really know me well sir…

She smiled so wide like she is the happiest kid in the world even she’s a teenager and already 17 years old. Her classmates murmured to each other because of what they’ve heard.

Mr. Ford: But if you didn’t get the highest score then you will never sleep during school time. Understood?

Aella: Sure sir, but how about we spice it up?

Mr: Ford: What is it???

Aella: If I got the perfect score in the exam, you’ll be the one who will pay my Field Trip + sleep in school of course, and If I lose then I will never sleep in the school and I will treat you this year whatever you want to buy.

Mr. Ford: Are you sure about that? … You might regret it

Aella giggled and smirked.

Aella: I am already full of regrets in my whole life sir, adding one more regret is nothing to me. We both know I already regret to live.

Mr. Ford: Ok… if I were you, you should start now as long you have the time to answer your exam without making a 1 wrong answer.

Aella: Yes sir!

Aella put her exam disc in her Hologram desk and the exam appeared in front of her, she stretched her arms and take a look at the questions in her exam before answering the test.

(*sigh* I thought the exam this year would be so difficult to answer… still no difference from the past years, I already study these in the library)

There’s a disappointment look in her face and she start answering the exam.

After an hour later…

Aella go to the front of her teacher and pass him the exam disc.

Aella: I finished it Sir

With a surprised look on his teacher’s face, he get the disc from Aella’s hand and put it inside his desk and in front of them, the technology calculating the score in her exam and ….. she won the bet cause’ she got the highest score and her exam score is perfect! 500/500. Mr. Ford is not surprised because he already knows that Aella is already smart enough to pass the exam but he didn’t expect it that she can finish it in just an hour.

Aella smiled and say…

Aella: It seems I won the bet. I’m expecting that I can attend in the school’s field trip this Sunday. Advance Thanks Sir!

Aella walks to the door to go outside but his teacher asked him.

Mr. Ford: Where do you think are you going Aella?

Aella: Work Sir!

Then she got outside the school, and in front of the gate a black car and a tall man with casual clothes approached her.

Devian: You told me that you can finish your exam for just half an hour, so I got here as soon as possible to take you to the base and for you to train there!

Aella: Don’t act like you are a boyfriend who wait here for his girlfriend to have a date. Just hear me out ok? … I just fell asleep during the exam half an hour that’s why I am late.

Devian: FYI you are “ugly” for me and-- *Sigh* ok, let’s go now…

Both of them go inside the car and go to the “base”. They go inside a company but they didn’t go to the elevator, they take stairs and go downward and go inside a storage room.

In the storage room, there’s too many dusts everywhere which is like the room didn’t clean for such a long time. Devian take a toy bear with a toy calculator in his hand then he pressed the secret code, suddenly the storage room move. It’s like the whole room is a secret underground elevator. When it comes to an end they both open the door of the storage room and in front of them is a big HQ with full of agents, spies, scientists and government officials. Both of them are welcomed by the guards who are wearing high-tech glasses to make sure that they are not one of the “Invaders”.

Devian: We have a physical and magic training today… I know yesternight you are so tired because of one of the “Invaders” hooligans just got inside the city, but you did a very good job for taking care of them.

Aella: Hey! As long as the government didn’t break the rules in my contract including that if they didn’t bring back the “Invaders” to their home world.

Devian: Psh! You are such a Brat!

Aella evilly glared at him like she’s making him hard to breathe because of her aura.

Aella: What did you say just now?

Devian: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. *sigh* I didn’t even experience the struggles you experienced before…

Aella take a deep breath the she looked at him and smiled.

Aella: It’s ok, I understand… I’m sorry. Change topic, what is your ranking?

Devian: I passed in the top 20

He answered it with pride and confidence, and smiled at her.

Aella: Good for you!

Devian: How about you?

Aella: … It’s Confidential

Devian: Eh? You never tell me your ranking and now that I asked about it but you avoiding to answer it. Don’t tell me you are below my ranking?

Aella: …..

Devian: I knew it! Haha!

Aella: Whatever~ welp, we are here now let’s start our training.

They both changed their clothes and take a warm up before they trained with their colleagues.

Their Instructor assigned them to their opponent for physical training. And the magic training they will have is a room and a virtual reality that they are battling with an enigma. This so-called training is a matter of life and death.

The instructor whispered something to Aella and she nod to the instructor.

Instructor: Let’s begin this shall we?

All of the agents: Yes Sir!

The instructor announced their opponent until he mentioned Aella’s opponent.

Instructor: Your opponent will be Timothy

All of them are shocked except the 2 of them.

Devian: Isn’t a little bit unfair? I mean not underestimating Aella’s skill but—

Timothy: I accept, I’m waiting for this day to beat her.

He smirked and focus his gaze to Aella. Aella walk towards him and she raise her hand to shake hands with him and said.

Aella: Let’s have a good fight!

Timothy look at her hands and shakes it. And looked at her with flare of fury in his eyes.

Timothy: This time I will beat you! Mark my words.

Aella: …..

She leaved them and prepared her weapons to fight. The same with timothy.

Devian: (what does he mean she will beat her this time?)

They both entered the arena and all of the agents watch the 2 of them inside the arena, this fight is without armor only weapons and shields. Devian is nervous but he saw that Aella’s face has no fear nor nervousness, she looks calm and determined.
