I sank down to my knees in front of the wolf. I could barely breathe anymore. My body was so sore, the pain from my ankle was indescribable. Behind us I could hear a loud hiss and a scream, followed by an even louder growl. The vampire’s head fell a few feet away from me, but the wolf in front of me had its dark eyes only on me.
The wolf lowered itself in front of me. Wolves hated transporting people like this, but it wasn’t like we had much choice here. We were right on the border with Declan’s territory and they were more than happy to cross that line if it meant they could get me back.
