Amber tried to calm herself, afraid to show any sympathy towards Nick’s sister. She took a deep breath in and then out again, one more time to gain her self-control back.
“I’m sorry but why are you telling me this, should you not tell a family—“ she stopped herself, remembering that Nick only had his step sister and mother and realizing that that was a bit insensitive of her to say.
“Look, all I’m saying I that there is nothing between myself and Nick therefore I am definitely the wrong person to be speaking to” Amber could see the disappointment on Stella’s face but there was no other way for her to tell Nick’s younger sister this.
She looked on as Stella dropped her head, she was silent and still, until she lifts it up again.
