Chapter 70
VoidBranwen walked, slowly at first, but faster with each breath. She rubbed her upper arms to keep her hands away from her abdomen.
Her heart beat faster too, increasing more than her steps could account for.
Something was happening.
She tried to focus on the movement. Heel to toe, push off, repeat. Even though the view never changed, she felt the momentum. Her legs moved her forward under her own power.
Her stirred-up body, tingling with anticipation she couldn’t make sense of, competed with the twist and whirl of her thoughts.
And with the voices.
Be ready, one of them said, over and over again. Be ready.
That one felt and sounded so familiar, like a whisper from inside her own heart.
