Chapter 32 NowJohn slowly came to his senses. He pushed himself upright from the bathroom floor, groaning as he tried to breathe around what felt like broken ribs. He was surprised to see no blood in the awful mess, mostly contained by the toilet. His throat felt like he’d swallowed glass, and his jaws and even his teeth were aching. The first thing that caught his attention enough to bring him fully back to his present was his left hand, the white gold band with a row of tiny garnets and black diamonds on his ring finger.
