Chapter 11The phoenix was still watching her with dark eyes while the others had huddled in their little group. Something told Shadow that she was safer in here than she would have been out there where he could get a hold of her. Glancing at Deth’s child she blinked realizing the other woman was now looking at her with a curious expression. It wasn’t really fearful as Shadow had expected but definitely cautious.
Apparently she had stared too long as the phoenix stepped into her line of sight blocking her view of Tiara and her scrutiny. Deciding that she was on to something she lifted her chin defiantly and tossed her long hair over her shoulder. As long as they considered her a threat, then maybe they would keep her locked up here… safe from the phoenix and Deth.
