A hot sunny day it was. The scorching heat from above shone itself upon the earth brightly. Some citizens had their umbrella's covering their head, while some didn't. They either took the public transport or increased their pace. A young man, that goes by the name Jeff , drags his feet depressingly under the hot sun, with a file above his head. Jeff just left an interview at a company and was heading back home. He didn't look at all fine. The interview didn't go as planned, because of the way the employer spoke to him harshly and rudely. "You aren't qualified at all young man. You aren't fit to work in my company. I need men that are worthy, not bums," the employer ridiculed Jeff . Jeff tried his best to convince the employer. He wasn't ready to give up on his search. "Please sir, just go through my files. You'll see that I'm worthy of this job. I'm very hardworking and good with my work," Jeff stated. "You won't regret hiring me sir. I promise I'll make you proud. Please just go through it." He placed his file on the employer's table. The employer scoffed and threw Jeff 's file off his table. Leaving the young man disheartened at once. "You just don't get it do you boy? I don't need men like you. You don't even have any experience at all in business!" The employer pointed out. Jeff stayed quiet. He had no more words to say to convince the employer. His hopes of getting a job there was crushed. "Please leave my office now. Next!" The employer turned his attention away from Jeff . Jeff rose from the chair and turned to leave. He heard the employer calling him a low life. He sighed and left. Thinking about it, only made the young man feel rejected. He decided to take his mind off the failed interview and think positively. "That's not the only company in this country. I'll keep on trying until I succeed. All hope is not lost," he encouraged himself. Walking home, Jeff came across an ice cream stand on his way. Since the sun was beating him hard, he decided to get an ice cream. Jeff moved closer to the Ice cream stand and reached for his pocket. He watched two ladies walking away with their ice cream joyfully. The joy of having something so cold and sweet to drive the heat away was just what he needed. Jeff searched his pocket for a spare change but doesn't find any dime at all. This left him embarrassed. "I thought I had some change here," he said, feeling shamefaced In the presence of the ice cream man. The Ice cream man didn't mind what Jeff was saying. He just reached out for his cart and handed him a strawberry ice cream. "Here you go son. Take this," the ice cream man said sweetly. Jeff gazed at the cold ice cream then at the seller. "Thank you sir," he appreciated and took it. "You're welcome. See it as a little gift from me to you." He winked at Jeff . Not getting the gesture, Jeff smiled at the ice cream seller and thanked him again. Walking straight home. . About twenty minutes later, Jeff arrived outside his room. He sluggishly opened it and got in. Shutting the door behind him. Jeff dropped his file on the chair close to him and glanced from one corner of the room to the other. He wasn't happy at all. He was going to graduate from college very soon and he doesn't have a job or anything doing financially. This felt like a pain in the neck for him. All he could think off was his future after graduation. What name was he going to make for himself. He walked up to his bed and sat on it. He laid on it with his face buried in his pillow and groaned out. "Why's life so hard? Why can't anything go right for me?" He murmured. Jeff just stayed there face down. He just didn't feel like himself at all. Where he laid, Jeff thought about how life would be if he finally got a job and every other thing he needed. He imagined himself in his own office, attending to works easily and sending lots of money to the woman he loves. Ashley, Jeff 's girlfriend. The love of his life. The only reason he's still facing humiliation at different companies and pushing himself hard. Jeff loves her so much. He viewed how life would be when he finally gets the job of his dream and showers Ashley with wealth. "Oh Jeff , I love you," Ashley, in his imagination, confessed and kissed him. Jeff grinned at this thoughts. He couldn't wait to go out tomorrow again and look for another job. "All will be well for us Ashley. I've promised to make our future bright and beautiful. That's what we'll get," he promised. Just then, the door of the room came opened. Jeff 's roommates, three guys, walked into the room, arguing about something. "I'm telling you men, this ain't right. She didn't do the right thing!" Joe, one of them argued. "Well we can't do or say anything until Jeff is back. He's the only one that has a say to this matter," Phill, the second believed. Mike, the third roommate, noticed Jeff on the bed. He taps the other two on the shoulder and pointed directly at the bed. "Guys, he's back," Mike informed them. The three guys rushed to meet Jeff . They wondered what had happened to him, for him to be in this position. "Dude, wake up," Phill called out to Jeff . Tapping him on the leg. Jeff was still fantasizing on his future with his girlfriend when he heard his name and felt someone tapping him. He lifted his face off the pillow and turned over to see who it was. Jeff found his three roommates beside him. "Hey guys, what's up?" He greeted. Sitting right up. "Are you okay dude?" Joe asked, sitting beside him. "How was the interview?" Mike inquired. Sitting at Jeff 's left hand side. Jeff scoffed and responded, "It didn't go well. Didn't get the job. I couldn't go and check for another due to the heat." He rubs his forehead. "But tomorrow is another day. I'll go out and continue with my job hunt," he said and chuckled. His friends just stared at him. They glanced at one another then back at Jeff again. Jeff noticed the way they were looking at one another. He suspected that something was wrong. "What's wrong? Why are you guys giving yourself secret eye communication?" He questioned them. Mike navigated his eyes on Joe. Joe shrugged and said, "Say it men. I don't know how or where to start from." "What are you talking about? What do you want to say?" Jeff asked, getting fidgety. Mike couldn't speak up. Phill groaned and took it upon himself to speak up. "You two are acting like dummies," he declared. "Watch it Phill," Joe and Mike sparked back. Finding Phill's words inappropriate. "You two are ready to talk. Fine then, I'll tell Jeff myself," Phill decided. "Tell me what Phill?" Jeff requested. He felt his heart racing suddenly. But he tried to stay positive. Phill opened up. "Dude, it's your girlfriend Ashley. Some rich guy showed up from nowhere and proposed," Phill revealed. Jeff felt his world crumbling at this. "Ashley? Where's she? When did this happen?" He asked desperately. He stood up from the bed and rushed to the door. "Where is she?" He asked Phill again. "At the college squa re. She's still there with the rich dude," Mike answered Jeff . Without wasting time, Jeff dashed out of the room to find Ashley.
