I awakened at the side of my bed, I felt more comfortable sleeping like that because I was restless, I stood up to go to mother’s room to check on her health, I was unseemly distracted by her health as I wanted her to be better, I thought to myself and then the thought had crossed my mind, the thought of what happened last night.
I brushed it off from my mind and headed to mother to see her having her favourite tea in her favorite cup “Mother” I screamed going to her putting my head on her thighs “Mother, are you okay” I asked in between sobs “I am fine, my dear Lana” she said raising my face to hers “Your mother is quite strong, I’m fine” she said with a little smile.
“I’ll go and wash up then” I said getting up cleaning the tears off my eyes, I dashed out and got to my room as quickly and with Daphne to help, I was ready as quick as ever, I headed back to my mother and stayed by her side until I saw Domain come to her room asking about her health, I ignored him by exchanging pleasantries only.
I’m sure he could tell that I didn’t want to speak with me because I glared at him throughout, he smirked back but I wouldn’t waver, I had no reason to apologize for my tone, I muttered to myself.
“Lana, may I speak with you?” I heard him say, I reluctantly went out of the room with him “I’m sorry about yesterday, Lana, I really am” he said looking apologetic “Well, you shouldn’t have done that, what has come over you brother, you’ve changed a lot” I said awaiting his answer with my hands folded.
“I really do not know, I have become overwhelmed with your scent and almost times I’m filled with ecstasy whenever I’m around you, I promise you, I’m never in control whenever I’m around you” he said making me gasp in shock, I had always considered Domain to be my pillar as much as I have always loved him as a brother.
“You need to stop this, this will ruin the family” I said staring wide eyed at him “What do you want? Lana, I need to know what YOU want” he asked emphasizing on what I wanted, I began to stutter because I know deep down I had such feelings and had always stopped myself from reciprocating it “Answer me Lana, what do you want?” He asked again
I was still stuttering “I..I don’t want to talk about this” I said trying to walk away as he held my hand back, cornering me to the wall with one of his hand on mine and the other hand pinning me against the wall.
I could feel my chest hurt from the fast beating of my heart, I was forced to look at his beautiful eyes, my mind had begun to wander “Brother, someone will see” I said being discreet “I do not care, just tell me what your heart feels for me and if you tell me that you do not love me, I’ll keep making advances because you’re my soulmate” he said looking straight into my eyes.
“We’ll talk about it later, someone will see” I said breaking off, I controlled my feelings not letting him see how I yearned for him, for the sake of mother.
I walked away pouting as I headed straight for my room, I tried my best to avoid him the whole day until I heard he was out of the kingdom for some work “But he never told me he was going anywhere” I said to Daphne after she broke the news to me.
I decide to rest with mother for the night “Hello mother” I said smiling as I entered her room “My dear, come in, take a seat right here” she said gesturing that I come closer “Yes mother” I said sitting close to her.
“Mother, what type of husband do you think I’d have?” I asked looking at her eyes, her hazel eyes staring upwards towards the window “Well darling, it is your choice but you have rejected two suitors already, remember” she said which made me laugh.
“Well mother, they weren’t to my liking” I said “Well, why don’t you consider Lord Kesper, he’s quite handsome and affluent as well” she said staring at me now “Well mother, do you think he is a good choice?” I asked “Well he’s an excellent choice and since the ball would be coming soon, I’m sure he’ll propose because I’ve noticed how he looks at you” she said smiling “Well then, shall we invite him tomorrow?” I asked “It’s your choice” she answered smiling.
The next day, the Duke was already in our home after only hours of sending the invitation, he had some time to talk to my father and Lord Kesper had now plans to propose to me as Daphne had whispered to me, I was now in great shock and happy, yet I felt that this wasn’t what I wanted.
Domain had been gone for days and I only got news that he’d be home in days, in time for the wedding. The preparations had begun, I would be getting married to the Duke.
My heart had begun to pound profusely, my dress held my chest and my breasts so tight I couldn’t breathe, I looked into the mirror many times looking at my dress, I wanted to get married so desperately not because of love but to protect my family.
I waltzed down the aisle with my father holding my hand looking at my family and my soon to be husband smiling at me as we all heard a loud thud the door opening “Wait!!!” I heard the loud voice from behind, my fear was actualised, it was brother here in his armor gasping for air “I will not let you marry another” he said staring at me, I thought the end had come, my family would be ruined by this, I couldn’t help but lose consciousness to stop his words from flowing.
Domain' POV
I was so excited on my way back home, I would be able to see her, her gleaming eyes staring into mine, once the chariot had stopped I walked down, the fresh grass, the homely wind “It’s good to be back home” I muttered.
At the front door was father and mother awaiting my arrival “Welcome home, my dear, it’s been too long” I heard mother say with tears in her eyes “I am fine mother, why do your eyes seem teary?” I asked hugging her tightly “I have missed you too” I said as I heard sobbing.
Father had already shaken my hand and so I proceeded to ask “Where’s Lana?” Mother first smiled “You always want to see her, she’s in the kitchen, making something for you to eat, she wouldn’t let the maids do it” mother answered gesturing that I could leave.
I have missed Lana so much, her cheerful smile and her gleaming eyes, her long blonde hair, I’m sure it’ll be more beautiful than ever.
I began to walk into the pathway leading to the kitchen when I felt a little bump, someone bumped into me, I knew it was Lana, she hadn’t changed, she was still as carefree as ever “You okay, little one?” I asked as she rubbed her head “Brother” I heard her scream, she was just the same except that she had become more stunning and attracting.
I suddenly felt her hands wrapped around me to an extent that I couldn’t breathe, her hair covering parts of her face for some reason made me want to hold her for longer as she quickly let go of me and began to sprint to her room “Calm down, Lana” I said seeing how agile she still was, my assumptions were right, she was still as beautiful as ever.
I headed to my room as it was kept the same as I had left it, the swords on the wall shone as though they were always cleaned in my absence. The homely scent had filled my lungs, I loved it. I decided to get ready for breakfast as soon as possible because I wanted to have a taste of Lana’s cooking.
I rushed to the dining table immediately after washing up, I was served by the maid while Lana was seated close to mother and after the meal, I thought to myself that I had to make Lana mine faster because father was right, I needed a mate but how would he feel if he knew that my only soulmate was my sister because I have been attracted to her and even my decision to leave for Scotland changed nothing, I only missed and craved for her even more even in the midst of other women.
I looked at her as we went to the field to rest, she asked in her beautiful tiny voice that made me smile as she spun on the grass, I had missed every part of the home and everyone but mostly I missed seeing her eyes light up when she’s around me.
After our little reunion I decided to retire to my chambers, the whole day was quite eventful, I slept peacefully knowing that she was still as lively as ever.
The piercing rays of the sun woke me up and not the heavy ring of a troublesome bell which I was accustomed to for the last five years, I had woken up more happy knowing I was home. I immediately got ready because I had promised Josiah to go on a ride with him the very day I was back and he acknowledged our deal and was knocking on my room door.
We had fun riding the horses and we began to reminisce about our younger days “So Scotland was the only place you felt you could go to?” Josiah asked patting his horse “Well, my father had thought to send me there because we had relatives there” I answered “Well then I have a little news for you or have you been told?” He said looking at me in a rather guessing manner “Well what is it? I haven’t been told anything on arrival” I answered feeling puzzled.
“Well, Duke Kesper has eyes for your sister and soon she might be a duchess” he said looking at me “What? I was never informed” I answered feeling even more confused “Well, I was at the pub yesterday and he plans to see your parents today, concerning the matter” he continued “You cannot be serious, I’ll be heading home now” I said hitting my horse to move.
“Isn’t that to be a thing of joy?” Josiah said from behind but I couldn’t make out more than that because I was caught up trying to get home, I would not let another have her. I muttered to myself while rushing home.
