31 Cissie, together with Elenora, had been staying with Dorothy two nights when Arch phoned at breakfast time and relayed the contents of Ivan’s cablegram. Elenora had crumbled, sweet woman. Were the trio flying or not? Nobody could rightly say. It was becoming too much to bear. Cissie suddenly found herself angered by the thought that all George’s hard work and effort over much of the past year might yet come to nothing. She didn’t want to examine the emotion for fear of realising she had actually become excited and looking forward to seeing Scotty and Ivan and George land at Trentham in a few days’ time.
