The study had barely become quiet again when Lily’s terrified thoughts suddenly echoed through the silence.
Mommy, she wants to push me down.
She is going to say that I fell on my own. Because I cannot walk, she is going to use that against me.
Please, somebody help me.
Mr. Grayson reacted before the thought had even fully ended.
Fear struck him so suddenly and violently that his heart seemed to stop for a moment. He rushed out of the study immediately, crossing the hallway in only a few long strides before pushing the living room door open.
