Lunch

After bathing Vanessa showed up at the kitchen where Sian was and sat at the bench staring at his back. Sian looked over his shoulder sensing the burn of a stare on his back. "Stalker much." He joked. "Shouldn't I be saying that to you." Vanessa said that with a grin. Though she didn't seem serious while saying those words, her words were the total opposite. Maybe it's just the way she phrased it or it's just her way of saying her past, those memories, is just in the last. That she moved on. Sian breathed out through his mouth feeling a pinch in his gut. "Lunch will be ready in 5." He said. Vanessa hummed back and just stared at his back as he moved. Strangely she was not in the mood to be flirty. No flirty comments. She just.....watched him. Was she thinking about how he knew about that when she didn't even tell her friends about it. Was he perhaps somehow involved. Maybe, maybe not. And she just wanted to leave it at that. Let the past be the past. But she just couldn't leave it either. She wanted to find the one that caused her so much pain. She wanted to ask him why. What did she ever do to him. Though she did say, she made peace with her past. There's a part of her that never will. The part that wants a bit of closure. She heaved a sigh and placed the side of her head on her hands trying to calm herself racing heart. 'Don't be a burden to our family. Your not sad you just want attention.' Candy's voice resonated in the back of her head. Why am I.... sad. Somethings wrong with me. Vanessa thought with a groan and straightened her back, looking around the kitchen. "How long have you been here." Vanessa asked rotating in her chair. "About a month now." Sian said as he placed her food in front of her. "Meetings?" Vanessa asked bored. "You can say that." He said cutting the steak. Silence consumed the room with a tense atmosphere. Vanessa was fidgeting because she had questions she wanted answered but didn't know how to ask. Here goes nothing. "Why did you kidnap me." Vanessa asked looking at him. " I wanted to see if you were as capable as they made you out to be." Sian said. Vanessa scoffed at his reply. If your gonna lie at least make it more believable. He raised his hands in surrender under the scrutiny of Vanessa. "Fine." He dragged. "I wanted to see something for myself." He said being rather vague. Sian heartbeat sped at the possibility of confessing what he wanted to check. Why he wanted to check something. "My turn. How did you get to know Victoria and Elizabeth." He asked. Vanessa frowned slightly. How did he even know all that. "At the assassin agency. Around 3 years ago." Vanessa said. "How do you even know all this." Vanessa asked suspiciously. "I have my resources too. Why did you become black mask." Sian said chuckling and asked. "My friend's boyfriend killed her, I wanted revenge. Alexander wouldn't let me as he was a gang leaders son. I had to create black mask to take my revenge. I killed the entire gang" Vanessa said reminiscing with a smirk. "He wasn't suspicious." Sian questioned looking taken aback. "He was. He tested me by asking me to kill a pregnant lady, after I denied he asked black mask. She, well he, accepted. Sooo." Vanessa said, remembering the details vividly. 3 YEARS AGO "Did you kill him." Alexander asked her as soon as she entered. Showing her the photo on his tab. The headlines were written in bold fonts. 'GANG BURNT TO GROUND.' Below it was written. A group of notorious criminals were burnt to ground by an unknown person. The unknown left a black rose and note behind with the signature 'black mask'. The police believe it's a hitman and the murder of approximately 50 human beings are gang related. With no known lead to catch the brutal killer, the cops are forced to close the case. "Damn." Vanessa said in astonishment. "So you did, do this." Alexander stated accusingly. "And why would I do that. Christine died 2 months ago. And this happened 2 weeks ago." Vanessa said pointing at the screen shaking her head, like he should've have known it. Though only knowing her a month prior to her death, Vanessa and Christine bonded so well, she told things she didn't tell anyone about. Alexander blew a breath and changed the screen and showed her a photo of a pregnant woman, probably in her second trimester. Vanessa looked at the screen and Alexander, and raised an eyebrow, as if to ask who she was. "Laura. You need to kill her." Alexander said blankly. "I don't kill pregnant woman. I thought you knew that." Vanessa said in disgust. "3 million dollars." "No." Vanessa stated firmly walking towards the door. 12 PM THAT DAY "Black Mask." A voice said, as soon as Vanessa picked up her phone. Vanessa hummed in response. "I want you to kill someone for me. 3 million dollars." The person from the other side said keeping the call concise, and hung up. Her phone beeped shortly after the call. 'Laura.' Vanessa muttered to herself. It didn't take a genius to figure out Alexander was trying to confirm his suspicion. She went downstairs where are 'friends' were sitting. "Elizabeth, you are a hacker right." Vanessa asked as soon as she entered the room. Elizabeth and Victoria turned around fast when they heard her voice. It was a wonder she even spoke to them after ignoring them or talking to them coldly. Elizabeth nodded hesitantly. "Can you hide someone." Vanessa asked. "Covering someone's tracks? That's easy." "Covering an alive dead person's tracks." Vanessa asked, not really understanding what she was saying. "As long as that person doesn't come into contact with someone they knew. It's possible." Elizabeth said with a smile. "Good." Vanessa heaved a sigh of relief leaning on the wall behind her. "But it doesn't come for free." Victoria said thoughtfully. "I have a couple million dollars in my bank account." Vanessa said chewing her bottom lip. She will get 3 million dollar after this mission anyways. "You will be our friend in return." Victoria said with a grin. 'Friend?' That concept sounds weird after Christine's death. "Alright." Vanessa said rolling her eyes. "When." Elizabeth asked. "Tonight." "Alright." Elizabeth said feeling nervous. "What about me." Victoria asked pointing at herself. "Stay where you are." Vanessa said in a duh voice. LATER THAT DAY Vanessa was looking at herself in the bathroom trying to calm herself. 'One wrong move, the child dies.' She splashed some water on her face and went out the bathroom. Elizabeth was sitting on Vanessa's bed and got up as soon as she saw her. Vanessa looked at her in confusion. Elizabeth passed her an ear piece. "Put it on so you don't have to fish out your phone whenever you want to message me." Elizabeth explained pointing at the ear piece. Vanessa nodded her head and muttered a 'thanks'. 30 MINUTES LATER Vanessa was walking on the terrace cautiously. "Do you really have to do this." Elizabeth asked chuckling. "Well that lady locked herself in the highest possible room and she, I'm guessing, will not open the door. And she's the only one in the house." Vanessa tied the black wire around a post and took a deep breath. 'Here goes nothing.' She threw herself down the terrace her glowed fist, clenching tight on the wire. She moved her wrist professionally so that she can swing herself into Laura's room. One problem the window was closed. No biggie Vanessa used her legs to break the window and fell on the floor. She quickly let the wire go. This all happened in less than 10 seconds. Laura heard the windows breaking and panicked. She took the gun from under the pillow and clenched her fist around it. Vanessa got up and looked around for Laura and cursed herself when she found no one. 's**t. It's the wrong room.' "Vanessa, Laura is in the next room." Elizabeth said. Cold sweat dripping down Vanessa, Laura and Elizabeth's back. The door suddenly opened with a loud bang and Laura entered with the gun pointing it at Vanessa. Careful not to step on the glass pieces. "Laura, you gotta put the gun down." Vanessa said holding her hands up in surrender. "Make me." She said in a thick accent, Russian perhaps, slightly trembling. Vanessa rolled her eyes and stepped closer to her. "Step back." Laura said taking a step back herself. "Vanessa, she has a gun. Don't provoke her." Elizabeth said breathing heavily. Vanessa took a step closer nonetheless. A bang resonated in the room. Laura shot Vanessa. "Vanessa." Elizabeth yelled out.
