Chapter 5

1712 Words
Kai’s POV I flew straight to the tower trying to hold in my fire. I did that before, it’s the only reason I never burnt Mia before but now, I had to control the fire on my whole body, not just arms and claws. It was a nightmare so when we returned, I wasn’t happy. I was tired like after a proper workout or a day of continues flying or something. As soon as we got in through father’s study window, we were surrounded. Molly was furious. “Why did you do that, Mia?!”, of course she didn’t want or need an answer to this question. “We were worried sick! The curtains, bed sheets, even the clothes! And look at the state of you! Lets get you cleaned, you silly girl.”, she said and dragged my sunshine out of the room. Father didn’t say a word. He wasn’t angry at all. I think he was more relieved than anything else. I didn’t kill the girl and she didn’t seem to have accepted her fate. He looked at me intensely and then exited the room coldly without even saying a word to me or asking what happened. After all, we were gone a while. I got to the staircase and as I was walking down to my old room, I bumped into Luke. He looked proud and happy as always. As soon as I saw him, all positive thoughts escaped my mind. “I see you didn’t eat the girl.”, he said. I walked right past him bumping his shoulder. “Did you take what you desire?”, he continued. “Did you enjoy her little, weak body? Was it good?”, I turned around with fury in my eyes. He laughed at loud. “I didn’t r**e her or anything brother. I’m not a monster.”, I hissed back at him. “Like me, you mean, don’t you?”, he asked coldly and nodded his head. He wasn’t hurt. He didn’t care what I or others think of him, of that I was sure. He walked down two steps. “Well, brother. One day you will have to have her. You know the consequences.” “You don’t have to tell me, brother. I’m perfectly…” “Are you? Is she? If she doesn’t cooperate now, you better find a way to make her believe that she has no other choice before she kills you. You don’t want that, do you?”, he asked quietly. “Why do you care what happens to me or her?!”, I shouted right back him walking up the stairs so I could face him better. My whole body was on fire. He was unmoved. “I don’t.”, he said as if it were the most obvious information in the world. “But I am curious. I’ve never seen my smaller brother act with such passion, desire and recklessness and I’ve never met a woman who could stop a dragon filled with pure desire from getting what he wanted. I’m curious about this little girl of yours. What a sweetheart.” “Don’t call her that! And don’t you even touch Mia! I’ll kill you if you lay a finger on her!”, I grabbed him by his collar. He laughed in my face. I let go. “Fine, Kai.”, he said straightening up the collar. “I am your brother after all but remember, you don’t have to wait for her to consent to being with you or anything. You’re a dragon! She has no chance against you! Or you can always do what I did.”. A cold feeling went up my spine as I remembered what he did when the Dragon curse came upon him. He continued: “The Dragon Curse only happens once to a person, brother. You want things easier, take my advice and…” “Take what I want and then kill her, just like you did.”, I said coldly. “And now I’m happy and free to be with whoever I want!” he said opening his arms with joy. “No. Mia set us free.”, I said. He put his arms down and twisted his head a little, looking at me like I was a child. He smiled with pity. “And now she’s your prisoner.” “She’s not a prisoner here!” “Then I guess she can leave whenever she wants! You better go and tell that to her. I’m sure she’ll be happy and try to leave as soon as possible. Oh, wait! She already did that and you forced her to return! Well, if you want her to stay, you better bar her windows or something because she will use them again to exit the tower.” “I’m not going to bar her windows…” “Because she’s not a prisoner. I know, I know.”, he said and smiled. I hung my head and sighed. He was right. Who was I trying to fool. “What are you going to do, brother? She might be your prisoner but you are also hers.”, whispered Luke. “Be careful. She has more power over you than you think.”, she added and walked down to his room, leaving me alone in the dark corridor. What a shame he’s a blue dragon. Blue dragons are said to be the most coldblooded and deceiving. Calm on the surface but full of hatred under it all, observing and planning the demise of their enemies. f*****g sociopaths, all of them! Or at least, Luke. White dragons were cold, they didn’t care about anybody, including their enemies. You could talk trash, openly insult them but unless you openly fought them, they’d do nothing, feeling far superior to others. I, however, am a golden dragon and golden dragons, just like the red ones are hot-headed, we act before we think and worse, golden dragons are the most spiritually connected to the source of dragon’s magic, the sun and its life giving qualities. We are the most passionate. When we want something, we want it with full heart. We are impatient, bold, straightforward, passionate. This is why acted the way I did with Mia. My dragon instincts were stronger than my brain. The fire of desire is raging in my body. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to resist it. I walked into my room and sat alone on the bed. Despite the books, CDs, films and posters all around me, I could only think about her. When I was younger, I dreamed of meeting my one, true love, chosen for me by the gods. Unlike Luke, I liked the idea of meeting her one day and just instantly fall in love. I dreamed that she would feel the same thing, she would be infatuated by me, we’d make a cute couple and have kids and live a happy life full of love and passion. Then, Luke met his chosen one. I didn’t even know about it until he did what he did. He returned with blood on his hands and blue fire on his entire body. He was delighted by what he did. Called it true freedom, defying gods, fate and the whole wide world. He never told me who she was but seeing that I’ve never heard from anybody important about a missing or dead girl, I guess she came from a poor, little known family. Maybe she was an orphan like Mia. Thoughts were racing through my mind. She was right. She was clever, brave, determined! Even though she was a worthless orphan, magicless, raised by the witches and wizards, she had character! I liked that. I liked that a lot. I took off my coat and shirt and changed into a new, cleaned, red one. I laid on my bed, looking with empty eyes at the poster on the wall, processing every detail of what happened in the forest. Then I heard a rumble in the corridor. Molly was despairing over something. I got out and walked up. Molly was standing in the entrance to the bathroom, shouting: “Corbus! Corbus! Get here, now! We have a problem!”. She was looking up the staircase, where my father has just opened his door. “What now, Molly?! Can’t you deal with it or…”he shouted. They didn’t see me coming up. Lured by the word ‘problem’ I wanted to see what was wrong and looked inside the bathroom. In the stone walled room lit by candlelight, next to the bathtub, covered in a white towel stood Mia. She was all wet, bubbles still in her red hair. She looked like a scared little puppy, shivering on the freezing cold floor. I couldn’t control myself and before anybody could do a thing I held her in my arms. “We have no clothes for our guest! She flung them all out the window when she made the rope ladder, remember?!”, I heard Molly shouting somewhere in the distance. My heart was racing like crazy, the haze of desire coming over my eyes. I held my left arm on her back, holding her close to my body. My right hand was entangled in her hair. I pushed her back to the wall, to the corner of the bathroom. My left hand moved to her hip. Her beautiful eyes widened with fear looked straight at me. I was entirely on fire. I could feel her breath on my neck. I couldn’t control myself any longer. The desire was taking over me entirely. I leaned for a kiss. “Kai! What are you doing here mister! Get out now!”, shouted Molly. I glared at her with anger. Then my father entered the room. “Let the girl go, young sir.”, he said seriously. I didn’t care. “She’s mine.”, I answered with anger. “I understand that but Kai, she’s tired, she’s been on quite an adventure, don’t you think? I believe it’s enough excitement for her for the day, all right? Let her rest, now.”, he said. His words made sense and the arguments got through to me. The fire calmed down a bit. Then he had to come in and ruin it all- Luke. “if she has no clothes, she’s more than welcome to use mine.”, he said. He knew exactly what he was doing. My mind filled with rage. “GET OUT! ALL OF YOU, GET OUT! NOW!” I shouted firing balls of fire right in their faces. Mia squealed in fear. Father protected Molly from the hit. Luke didn’t care. He even laughed but they all did back out of the room for a second- a second, too long. I closed the door in their faces and locked it from the inside. I was finally alone with Mia.
