~Narrator’s POV~
You’ve heard this time and time again. Maybe we should switch it up a bit. Well, where else to start than the beginning. The birth of a new royal and next air took the kingdom by surprise. Their queen, Issabelle Keiko, had been deemed infertile, and was seen as the joke of the kingdom. No one was foolish enough to speak it allowed, but of all the past rulers, she had very clearly been the worse. She was the coldest of all the previous rulers, and made decisions based on her own selfish beliefs and lack of moral or care of anyone but herself. She gave meaning to her bloodlines deadly ruby red eyes. All those of royal descent had them. It is their way of making sure that the ruler was quickly distinguished by the others. It made them higher by appearance far better than any riches could. Issabelle had always been fairly distant, growing up isolating herself from her kingdom, disobeying her parents, and wandering out of the borders. This kingdom has once been protected by the Zodiacs’ magic. The Zodiac was a group of mages and magic wielders from all across the lands, who stayed in the middle of each in order to protect and keep the lands in order. From the moment these Zodiacs were chosen, they were to gain powers, specific for their sign representation. They have long been extinct, but their ancient magic has still lingered around. Thus, they can still be protected if no one interferes with the spell. Issabelle, however, had wanted to harness all the leftover magic for herself. Not for the kingdom of course, just for herself. She had been jealous that the magic ended before she could even claim the throne. She had gone out of her way multiple times to try and get the magic, but her husband, Theodore, had always talked her down from doing such. There had been no love in their marriage, but Issabelle’s parents were growing old and needed someone to take the throne. The rule was that you had to marry in order to rule, that way there was always a balance of power. If your partner were to die, you would usually have to remarry or, if there are children born that are of age, they would be given the throne, but they would need to also have been married. The royal family rarely ever has more than a singular child, so as to not expand the amount of changelings or to marry them off. It keeps the bloodline going straight and not in multiple directions. This branch had no exceptions. Issabelle only married for the throne, of course. There was no love in this relationship, which again, is very rare. They were both rather starved, since the changelings feed off of love. Their child as well, from day one, was very starved. She had to grow up in an environment that not even normal children could stand, let alone someone who would need that in order to survive. She did receive the love, however, in the forms of maids and her kingdom. Her citizens were overjoyed to find that there would be a new heir soon, and thus gave her much more love than two parents could ever give. This new birth will only be the start to the pair of parents, and even the kingdom as a whole.
