CHAPTER 5 CLYDE “shouldn’t you have confronted her, it’s not like she knows.” Liam literally screamed after spitting half of his wine on my custom-made suit. “sigh, it’s not that simple--” “is she human?” his face turned ten times paler—I didn’t know it could “yes—no. I’m not sure...” the room is filled with a deafening silence for what felt like hours but really less than seconds—a haughty laughter fills the room “you find this funny” more like a statement than a demand. “uhm. Yes, I would be stupid not to” he wipes the tears of laughter threatening to fall –and continues “to be honest you really shouldn’t worry about that since there are lots of human mates in Deira…but don’t.” he said seriously this time. After several shots, Liam laid on the floor of passed out cold. “how unprofessional” I scoffed—I clicked a few pics of him—and walked away The next day I went straight to the office, it wasn’t the HQ and I didn’t need to be there, but some useless bastards just couldn’t do one job right—in my head I was already counting the people I would fire when my strides came to a stop—it’s her. My insides screamed to run right to her and just tell her we are MATES—would she freak out. “sir the papers.” my secretary hands me a file looking at me like she saw a vampire—well I am one but no one knows that. “place it on my desk” I say my voice cold enough to freeze the whole room. “call for an emergency meeting ASAP, and tell the accountant to get the whole PR teams paycheck ready. NOW!” I could feel her shaking in her boots I swear she would pee her pants. “are you deaf? NOW! “she scurried away dropping some papers on the way. I think I should fire EVERYONE. My gaze shifts to the seat she was a few moments ago—she’s gone. “bro she’s your employee?? Just do it.” Jake asked in total disbelief. I didn’t ask him to keep it down since the whole office is empty. In our friend trio Jake was the pessimist, Liam was the ladies man’s s***h alcoholic, and there was me Clyde wayn a---well I didn’t know how to describe myself, when we were in vamp camp we all made a promise to reject our mates cause of…I don’t really know who thought of the idea but since it was a blood oath we HAVE to do it, they all did, now it’s my turn. Seeing the uncertainty in my eyes he throws the paper weigh at me, it stops midair less than an inch from eye. “what the f**k was that for?” he looks at me like I was the one who almost blinded him and not vice versa. “you’re attached aren’t you” his gray eyes burning through me. After one finds their mate in Deira they have 24hours to decide if they wanna reject each other, plus this rejection process is really easy and doesn’t need both parties to agree just one, that’s how Liam and Jake both did theirs…. mine happened yesterday at… .3pm and now is…I look down at my limited-edition watch strapped to my wrist. 8pm. “you know what this means?” After telling me his solution, he left leaving me alone to think about it—well there isn’t anything to think about it. I’m not doing it. I stand in front of the floor to ceiling window, the cool tumbler in my hands---crash—the glass falls to the floor I clutch my stomach. A cool but killer pain, I’ve never felt this kind of pain before. And I have felt different kinds of pain. I limp to my office penthouse—I have one in all 34 branches across Asia to avoid going to hotels I have nothing against them just the people. I lay on the enormous size bed. After 5more minutes .it stops –maybe I just ate bad food. I hope
