CHAPTER 6 LYDIA “So…” Kat stared at me for any signs “what?” I knew it was useless acting dumb. “stop it…you know what I’m talking about” she whispered like a thief. “it was…awful” I said truthfully—not that I expected more—there it is I might’ve sounded like an inexperienced teenager which is partly true. “what do you mean awful? Your first time is supposed to hurt!” she suddenly screamed. The room went silent—really silent. I break the silence after a few moments “I know but. It stopped hurting for some time. Then I started to feel-” she cuts me off “. good?” “no. for some reason guilty…like I was doing the worst thing…. I felt like I was responsible for global warming,” I don’t know why but I did and I kinda still do. I feel dirty, after the one-night stand left, I showered 3 times and that isn’t. exaggerated, I honestly don’t see the fuss over s*x…. Well I didn’t tell her that. “no. nononono…” her expression turns grim and. panicked? After her little panic attack, she faced me dead in the eye “never tell anyone about this” she grips my shoulder a little too hard—well I wasn’t planning to. At that moment I remember I had a lot of questions to ask her. “what’s blood doing in your freezer??, why didn’t you tell me you found my pendant and why are you telling me what to do.” I blurt that all in one breath. “I’m a vampire, and the reason I didn’t tell you that I had your moon pendant is because I didn’t think you were reads.” Wow, I didn’t really expect her to actually answer. I tried to register everything in my brain. VAMPIRE, MOON PENDANT, READY? Ready?? “stop playing with me…” I let out a dry laugh, look around the room. I stand up look in every flower vase every portrait. Nothing, this isn’t some messed up prank. “DIA? Are you mad?” she says in a coaxing tone. “just confused” I answer—I feel like vomiting, I drank blood, my best friend who has been with me for as long as I can remember isn’t human. After an intense argument I forgave her. Well not fully, she lied to me all my life, she knew. “why do I hear voices whenever I put on the necklace” I blurt out, finally that has been on my mind for…forever. “moon pendant sigh. yes, you’re a werewolf…and that voice you normally hear is your wolf” I open the drawer and put on the necklace—well I don’t feel any different… “the third blood moon shower is coming soon, pls be there…wait” her expression turns grim “have. Have you met your mate yet…I mean have you”? “yes, when I went for an interview. I heard the voi—I mean my wolf say the word MATE” “I need to know his name, have you told him yet?” “Clyde. Why” her gaze turns grim as she explained who a mate was, kinda like a soulmate. But more forceful. “you need to bring your mate there” she leaves, I sit in my room. Bored—a smile breaks out I feel this surge of happiness Mate, soulmate aren’t they kinda the same thing. I take out my laptop and do some research, there wasn’t much of information. But one caught my eye. I put on the moon pendant. today is a weekend so I have no excuse to go to the office, then I remember he lives just above me.kat got me a place just above hers I pay the rent so it’s kinda mine. I’m stuck thinking if I should go talk to him or not. In seconds I find myself at his door my hand hovering over the bell. The door opens with Clyde behind it. I didn’t even ring—whatever. “what are you waiting for?” he just stood there his face paler than normal. Feeling awkward from his gaze I stretch the box of blood cookies in my hands. “for you…I just moved in so.” I wished I could bury myself underground. “thanks. But blood cookies?” his voice sounded both cold and alluring. “it’s a new recipe.” I stammered and rubbed my hand awkwardly—p. s I was a bad liar. They were actually just red velvet cookies. Adding the word blood just gave it a magical touch. His voice cut the silence.” thanks. MATE” he closed the door. I felt kind of giddy, how was someone allowed to be this sinfully hot. Baby steps, I walk down the hall when I bump into a hard wall, I look up it’s not a wall but a very intimidating man with beautiful gray eyes. ‘” I would appreciate it if you would stop ogling at me and MOVE” my face turns beet red from embaressment.why did I have to stare for too long. But no matter how I try to move it’s like I’m glued to the soft red carpet beneath my feet. He lets out an annoyed growl and he walks past me and heads to Clyde’s place. After hours of laying on my bed with no sleep I had to go to work, although my job wasn’t that good at least it’s better than the bar and hotel and others I don’t remember. I even forgot to quit…well at least it’s not full time. I walk into the office stopping at my team managers desk. It’s empty, I see a lot of people curdle at the front of the meeting room—everyone except Agnes. I drag my nosy self to her desk and ask. “what’s going on? “she looks up from her computer. I had to admit she had a geeky look that was cute. “miss Mary is about to be fired. And before you ask I don’t know why, if you want to keep your job go to your desk and act busy” she says taking her gaze back to the computer. Sigh, I heard the whole PR team got replaced yesterday, Clyde must be in a really bad mood. I walk back to my seat, and a loud voice echoed causing everyone to scramble. “go back to work if you ALL don’t want to lose your jobs” At that moment I almost forgot how to breath as I stared at my reflection in my laptop screen. Sharp teeth, two FANGS My eyes are glowing and not in a normal—oh she’s pretty way.
