1398 Words
Like enough we where able to get a smaller house at small expenses, though this place was a bit awkward to me, it wasn't that clean and we had a large compound that was surrounded by a community of teen boys who used to do some kind of business for a living , To me I was some kind of butcher , they used to mainly sell hens , and could give special treatment to their customers were they could help you slaughter the hen for you but you pay some little cash, So mainly these boys community was divided into two sections, the grown up men could sell hens and the teen could help slaughter them for small cash . Our compound was never quite cause they worked from dawn to evening ,I basically hated this place cause it really had no privacy and these men could stare alot so I wasn't comfortable with that at all but I had to adjust to the situation cause we had no money . Months passed , my baby siblings got really used to the place cause these boys could call them and give them money , and when it comes to my younger sis Desire, ohh this girl adjusts way too earlier cause she had a friendly personality, at this time she had even learnt some of their names ,and she could sit outside and chat with them . For me I wasn't a friendly person cause life made me go through much at a young age so I was always indoors , . My mother decided to get new schools for my siblings since it was a new place for us , I took reconsidered going to campus cause atleast my mother could provide a little with what she could earn , I left my current job and started to work with mother again , I really didn't like working with mother cause I barely slept we could go in the evening and come back in the morning but I had no choice cause it's the only way we had to survive. Months passed , i still didn't want to go to school cause I saw it could cost my mother much money so I kept postponing it . MY baby sister Desire had got a bestfriend from these men in our compound, he's name is Hassan , he was almost 5yrs old than me , and he was the landlady's son though he used to work with these people too . They were not that rich but atleast they owned a few properties , Hassan used to go to school in town with a bicycle early in the morning then come back in the evening to work. I didn't like him at all cause he could jazz with Desire till late , always talking about movies , songs ,so I never saw him as he could be any use to her .But Desire was always excited to wait for him come back from school so that they could clean there work place just to sit and chat every single day . I literally didn't talk to him much cause I was always acting mature just to stop him from bring friends with him. As usual my life continued to be the same , like go to work in the evening, come back in the morning I was tired of this same schedule and I wanted to explore more in life ,so I decided to try getting friends , the first person who became my friend first was a teen boy who was still in his senior years but also used to work here , he always consulted me on how to pass exams after knowing I did well I school , he's name is Arafa . I used to sit on our valendar very evening just to teach Arafa different equations cause even though I came from a poor family, I was wise and that was one of the reasons why I was able to get scholarships to finish my senior years. So Arafa was Hassans close friend , they were too close to the extent that I thought they were related , but I later found out that they grow up from the same home town working with these men since childhood and Hassan had a twin brother . This small town wasn't interesting to me but it was something big to these people, Arafa didn't come from a rich family but he managed to save money from working here to fund his education, When it comes to Hassan , he too saved money cause he wanted to go to university and study law oneday ,These boys were twins Hassan and Hussein, who lost their mother at both and were raised by our landlady who is a sister to their father . She raised them well with love as her sons that's why every time I looked at her , I always gave her respect. So since I knew all this , that means I started chatting with Hassan , cause I found him interesting, he wasn't a bad person, cause he was always hardworking and positive about everything that it will work out . Finally I have now got friends in this little town , Arafa , Hassan , though Hussein was a bit tough and he barely came to work cause he had other places he worked from since he dropped out of school. I was very close to Arafa cause he was the simplest of all, always chatting and happy , I barely saw his sad side . Life became a bit interesting cause I always came back from work knowing I have friends waiting for me. We started having good evenings, Desire, Arafa, Hassan, and I could sit and talk about every thing that doesn't make sense , it was always useless conversations but it was good and worth it . Time passed , and I started spending much time with Hassan cause Arafa was in his last senior year and he was too busy so he always came back late , I barely started to see him . one evening, I was seated thinking if I should continue studies and how I will be able to fund it , Hassan came to me, and asked me to talk about it cause I seemed not ok , I asked him what he wanted to be in life and he said " I always wanted to be a great lawyer ,so that's I am struggling very hard to get into a good university " . I asked him what if he failed to fund it what could be his plan B . He said " being a lawyer has always been my plan A,B ,C ,And D . So if it doesn't work out ,my life will have no meaning and I will have lived a very boring life without meaning " . I was inspired by his words cause I too wanted to be a journalist, I told him that he can do it as long as he put his mind to it , though it sounded Like I was telling myself to stand up and go for it. Days passed , my baby sister Desire finished her primary school and finally going to senior , she was happy nit knowing that the more you grow the more life hits you to a different nerve, MY mother worked even more cause senior schools are expensive, while Desire was joining senior level, I decided to join campus too for a journalism course , Hassan too had received his results though they were not good enough for him to get a law course . He was sad cause he worked hard but it turned out differently, I advised him to do journalism too so that he could upgrade to a law course later , he bought the ideal and registered too , we both went for same courses but different schools cause I had to get a cheaper one due to my financial status. For Arafa ,he had completed his senior level and he didn't want to join campus but instead he wanted to work and get money to do a fashion store. This felt like we had became friends aiming to succeed, ..............
