Anna- A Friend In Danger

868 Words
ANNA POV “Hey Jake, have you seen Luka?” Jake's gorgeous hair stood so perfectly; his angel lips soothed me. Why are you so perfect? But his worried eyes taunt me. “I’m sorry Anna, but I am in a rush. I need to go.” “Don’t you have class?” he turns with a swing as he runs down the corridor. “Cover for me? I will see you later.” Where is he going? I locked my giant locker and watched him run towards the window as he got into his car and drove off. For me, running is a no-go, especially not for this foot, but I need to know what is happening, Violet, then Luka and now Jake. I grabbed my keys and ran towards my car. I am sure following someone isn’t a crime. Yards and yards turned into miles as he pulled into an opening in the forest. I pulled to the side of the road and got out of my Audi as he disappeared. I grab my phone and keys leaving my bag behind. Just before I entered the forest, I texted one of my mates to cover for me at school, hopefully, she does. Walking down the side of the road heading towards a large wooden Lakehouse, that would hold at least fifteen to twenty people. I turned to get further into the forest and headed further towards the house. My feet and white shoes filled with dirt as I did, and soon regretted wearing them today, but then again, I didn’t think I'd be chasing after someone and walking alone in the forest a couple of miles away from home. I took a glance at my phone, still wondering why Violet had not texted me or even called me yet, she had been gone for two days now. I scrolled through my contacts and searched for her mother’s number. “You did what!!” A very angry and horrifying laugh pretty much made me drop my phone out of my hands. I turn and watch through the bushes a muscular man, laughing and a lot of people around him soon follow. My eyes darted from one Asian man to one darker-looking man and a couple of big dogs behind them all. As soon as that one man stopped, they all stopped. “Who are you, boy?” The strong male walks towards Jake. He moves his head as if he is smelling him. “You are one of us but not born. Who bit you?”. “I did” Luka from behind the house came towards the male leader. ‘Professor Mason’ My school teacher also followed; I hadn’t seen them since VI left. As soon as Luka answered the guy, everyone, even the dogs reacted as if they could understand. “I thought he was a threat.” What the hell is going on? “A threat?” The man gets angrier. “He is a Hunter” “A Hunter?” The guy turns to his voice and pushes Luka to the ground. The air in my lungs gets tramped. My heart thumps from out of my chest. “What have you done?” ... “Father, that is not what I am here for.” ... “Father?” I whisper. “That’s Adrian Gale?” ... “Mason. Did you know about this?” Luka’s father looks up to Professor Mason. “Yes, father. But that is not why we are here.” ‘Luka and Professor Mason are brothers?’ Professor Mason repeats Luka's statement. “What is so important that you had to be cruel out of your home, risk confronting me and standing in my presence after fifty-seven years, nine months and twenty-two days, Mason Gale?” … Professor Mason hesitated, “Violetta has been kidnapped.” ‘Violetta? Violet!’... Whispers and voices rise in the group. “What do you mean, boy?” The guy’s anger erupts. “She is gone, I cannot feel her, and blood was left in her untouched bedroom.” The guy's eyes widened and turned unimaginably red, which I believe has taken my sole. I place my hand over my stuttering breath. The guy turns to the huge dogs and men, “Go!!” He roars. What did Luka do to her? The dogs and men moved to his command and left. Leaving Professor Mason, Luka, Jake and a young blond-haired man behind them and the unexplainable human, “You too, you are stronger. She needs to be found!” Professor Mason nodded at his command, and the best god knows what is happening in front of my eyes. It is not real, I cannot move, the impossible is happening right now, once a human being is shrinking and taking the form of a wolf, hair forms over his naked body, I can't stay any longer. As soon as I moved, the twigs underneath me cracked, I took one look through the bush, my heart had now forced its way up my throat and out into the open, my eyes blurred to the unbelievable pain or fear, and now I am the hunted...
