Chapter one: (Divorce)
“Why is she late again?”
Ethan Bryan immediately muttered to himself as he sat on the cold iron bench in the visitation area of Western border penitentiary.
His hands were in his sweater as he waited patiently for his wife, Joanne Patrick to come and pick her up from the prison.
It's been six freaking long years already since he last saw her and he couldn't wait to get out of here and finally get married to his lovely wife, Joanne Patrick.
Just then a black Lamborghini Aventador pulled up in front of the penitentiary, a beautiful lady, fair, slim fit with silver blonde hair immediately walked into the visitors arena drawing the attention of almost everyone in the building.
“Finally! What took you so long, I have been…”
“No need to explain further Ethan!”
“Just sign this divorce paper and let's get this stupid marriage of yours over with!” Joanne Patrick said and threw a file to his face.
Ethan Bryan was surprised and stunted at the moment.
“What is this? Some kind of joke or something?”
“Joke?!” Joanne Patrick asked as he stared at Ethan Bryan.
“Do I really look like I would come to this hell of a prison for jokes?!”
“Ethan Bryan, please, I don't have time for any of this bullshit, sign the divorce papers now, Eric Sean and I have a business appointment with the Belmar group and I really don't want to be tardy!”
Ethan Bryan was immediately taken aback, his face was now etched in an even more shock and disbelief.
“Eric Sean?”
“The Billionaire heir of the Sean family who just got back from abroad?!”
“Tell me this is a prank, Joanne Patrick!”
“Tell me that you are joking.” Ethan Bryan immediately said as he stared at his wife.
“Tell me you just really didn't mean what you said to me?” Ethan Bryan said as he walked closer to his wife.
“Don't come any closer to me, Ethan!”
“I really don't understand you at the moment, are you telling me that you quite didn't see this coming?”
“Ethan, look at you, you were never my type of man, I don't even recall why I even got married to you to begin with…I actually thought you were rich, I didn't know that you were just a regular dude.”
“Now that you are an ex-convict, charged with the murder of Mr Adams Sanders, I really don't want anything to do with you.”
“By the way, Ethan Bryan, I never really loved you at all.” Joanna Patrick said, her voice was laced with a mixture of disdain and humiliation as she spoke.
Ethan Bryan was beyond shocked, he had never believed that his wife would betray him not to talk of divorcing him.
Staring at his wife, Joanne Patrick, he asked, “Joanne, do you really mean you don't love me?”
“I gave up everything for you, my tech career, my freedom and six freaking long years of my life!”
“Joanne, the reason why I'm locked away in this cell is simply because of my goodwill to you and your family and because I wanted to prove my love to you.”
“You are calling me an ex-convict, I became an ex-convict because of your grandfather, Lord Patrick…”
“You and I know that it was your grandfather, Lord Patrick who had shot his Chief Operating Officer, Mr Adams Sanders, I wasn't even at the office on the day of the incident.”
“You, your grandfather, Lord Patrick, and your entire family members literally begged me to take the fall for his crime and here you are lecturing about being an ex-convict.”
“Joanne Patrick, I've been in this prison all these years and you stand there telling me that you would like a divorce.”
“Tell me Joanne Patrick, is someone blackmailing you into doing this?”
“Is it Jeremy, because I know that brother of yours has never ever loved me?” Ethan Bryan immediately asked as he stared at his wife, Joanne Patrick.
“Ethan Bryan or whatever you call yourself, no one is blackmailing me into doing anything, I'm doing all on my own.”
“Speaking of your love for me, that is the exact reason why it was easy for us to deceive you into going to prison for Mr Adams Sander's murdern!”
“You see Ethan Bryan, when I heard that Eric Sean, the billionaire heir to the Sean Group was actually returning to Xoston City, I knew that I had to get rid of you one way or another.”
“Believe me I tried to eliminate you a lot of times but it didn't work out, so when my grandfather, Lord Patrick mistakenly shot Mr Adams Sanders in his office, I knew this was the perfect time to reel you in and make you go to prison for his crimes.”
“At first, I didn't even believe that it would work but your love for me actually was strong enough to make you go to prison for my grandfather's crime.”
“Ethan Bryan, you were fooled by love, all I can say is thanks but no thanks…please sign the divorce papers, like I said Eric Sean and I are going to the Belmar group to secure a very lucrative business partnership with them.” Joanne Patrick said as she laughed at Ethan Bryan.
Ethan Bryan shook his head in shock and bewilderment, he hadn't seen this coming at all.
The woman he had given up everything for had just backstabbed and betrayed her.
Pulling out a pen from his Jean trousers, Ethan Bryan immediately signed the divorce papers.
“I really hope you don't regret this day!” He said coldly as he watched Joanne Patrick pick up the divorce papers and walk away laughing and mocking him.
What Joanne Patrick didn't know was that all this while, Ethan Bryan had been under the mentorship of the new and mysterious warden, Warden Belmar.
He had acquired a lot of skills, learnt martial arts, a lot about ancient medical healing techniques and many more.
Warden Belmar had offered to give him his Golden Fang ring, an artefact that would validate that he was making Ethan Bryan the secret inheritor to his vast wealth and influence but Ethan Bryan had refused, simply because he wanted to live a peaceful and quiet life with his wife, Joanne Patrick.
As Ethan Bryan sat on the pavement behind the prison, Warden Belmar walked over to him.
“I warned you Ethan but you were blinded by love and now you just got screwed over by your in-laws and your wife.”
“Once again, I offer you the Golden Fang ring, will you take it and finally have your revenge on those who put you in prison or not?”
Taking a deep breath, Ethan Bryan stood up from the pavement.
“Warden Belmar, I will finally accept your proposal, what will you have me do?” Ethan Bryan immediately asked, his voice was cold.
“Good choice Ethan Bryan, your life has just changed for the best.”
