CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
Both Anna and Will felt as if a weight had been lifted from both of them. The next few days were free of tension. Even the boys could feel it. At a moment when Paul was alone with his mother he said, “I have been having such a wonderful time with you and Father. It’s like before. Everyone laughing together.” He hesitated. “Does this mean you won’t be getting a divorce?”
She held Paul. “I’m so glad you are having a nice time. I am, too. This is the way things will be with us now, I hope. Where we all can be a family again when we’re together. But I’m sorry to say, we will not be staying married.”
Paul slumped a bit in her arms. “Oh, well, at least it will still feel like it was.”
“Yes, it will, my darling boy,” she said, holding him tighter.
