"This place is such a disaster!" I complained rubbing my ass from the pain. "Okay shut it now!!!"
"I... can"t!" Axel was still laughing and I was two seconds away from punching his face to death.
"STOP!" I shouted again.
Rhy... I mean Axel....( I need a little time to get used with his name) stopped laughing and with e dead serious face, looked at me. "You look cute when you are angry." A small smile appeared in his lips.
I felt my cheeks warming up, but tried to cover it. Tried to stop it. It wasn"t that easy though.
"And when you blush..." And with that I couldn"t stop blushing anymore.
What? I"m not used with compliments. Yeah, there have been many people who have complimented me, but they were trying to flirt with me and get me in their beds... and with that I mean that these people were bad guys, but Axel here was... serious...not flirting. Just being kind?
Well ate least he stopped laughing.
I mean it when I say that this place is a disaster. Seriously! I sat on that chair and puff... just like that its leg went off making me fall flat in my ass in the floor. What the hell was that about ? How do you call that? Luck? Well it isn"t luck!!!
"When are we going to your house?" I asked him and he smirked.
"Not waiting to be in my place Dylan?" He asked. And that people is called flirting... in a strange way, but boys never were normal. There was always a problem with them. Sorry guys! Just telling the truth. And believe me when I say that I"m one of you. (winking)
"Don"t flatter yourself. I just don"t want to stay in this crappy place. I just fell on my ass!!" I shouted the last sentence pointing at the one-leg-off chair. I felt sorry for it when I looked at it in that way, but again it was it"s fault. It tried to play the jerk with me. No one wins at that game against me.
Axel started to laugh again with me. There was no progress in sight ladies and gentlemen! I glared at him and his laugh died slowly.
"Sorry! Just can"t help it." He said smiling. I for some unknown reasons smiled too. "Anyway... I think we can drive to my house now if you want. It is a little far in fact... so we better get out of this place and drive to my place now if we want to be there before the night." He said and I nodded.
"To your place!!!" For some other unknown reasons I shouted and Axel burst in laughs again. I think I need medicines.
I took my backpack, put my gun in my belt and walked to the door as Axel took the almost empty bottle of vodka in his hand. I stared at him and he just grinned at me.
"What? It will be a crime to waste vodka for nothing." He said.
"Said the boy who kills for his living." I said and he frowned.
"I"m a man." He glared at me.
"Yeah whatever." I said as he walked to the door.
We both went downstairs at the receptionist guy, who as soon as he saw me he smirked like an i***t. Axel threw an arm over my shoulders and gave to the receptionist guy a smirk of his own. What was happening? I have not the slightest idea.
"We will pay for the room." Axel said, placing the bottle of vodka in the counter and I frowned.
"We"re not coming back here?" I asked confused.
"No."
I shrugged his arm away from my shoulders and stared at him. "WHY? I thought the plan was..."
"It"s not a really good plan. I have to figure out something else." He was serious when he said those words which made me frown even more.
Axel stared dead in my eyes.
I had no idea why he was acting so differently now? I mean he was acting all normal and cool and now... He looks like he...
His eyes parted from mine for a second and landed in my right and then went back to mines again.
He was trying to say something to me. I was still facing with him, but my eyes went to where he was looking. There were two guys with black suits. They were wearing sunglasses and were acting like nothing was happening, even thought their head were turned a little bit in our direction.
I turned my eyes to Axel. He was still serious and staring at me. I nodded at him lightly and he smiled.
My hand went to my gun in my belt ready for everything as Axel paid for the room. As soon as he finished with paying, his hand went to his belt as well, probably where his gun was. His other hand grabbed mine and pulled me out of the motel.
My eyes went to the two guys who got up from their places and followed us. I pulled out the gun from my belt and was ready to aim at the men behind us any time soon.
"When I say, you shoot." Axel whispered so low that even I could barely hear him.
"Okay." I whispered.
Axel pulled out of his belt his... wait it is a knife? Where is his gun?
We were almost near the car, when I heard Axel to shout. "Now!"
I didn"t wait any more but immediately shoot the guy who had his gun aimed at... Axel. Well at least I know they want me alive. I shoot his hand and the gun fell from his hand. I was about to shoot at the second guy, when I saw a knife flying towards him, right in his heart. He lied down in the ground, breathing heavily.
I turned my head to Axel who was showing no emotions. He took the gun from my hand and walked closer to the guys. Firstly he shot in the head the one he tried to shoot him, and then the other one who was breathing slowly. He took his knife from the dead body.
Axel walked towards me and handed me the gun. "Hurry up!" He ordered me with a cold tone as he got in the car and waited for me.
I got in the car and Axel started to drive immediately.
There was an awkward silence. I didn"t want to talk. Axel looked so angry that I have no words to describe. I didn"t know what to say even if I wanted to talk.
He drove for a few moments and then stopped the car so in sudden I almost hit my head to the window. Axel walked out of the car and started to kick random rocks. We were kind of in the middle of nowhere. I thought we would be in some highway or something like that, but apparently he had drove faster than I thought and noticed.
I got out of the car and walked towards him.
I was behind him and he didn"t look like he was about to face me. For a few seconds I thought he didn"t know I was there with him.
"Sorry you had to see that." He sighed heavily.
"I have seen worse." I said seriously.
He turned around and stared at my eyes confused. From his face I could tell he was thinking if I was lying to him or not. But then he smiled. "I keep forgetting that you are an agent." He said and I smiled back.
"Is that, that hard to believe?" I asked and he laughed lightly.
He didn"t answered right way. He stared at my face for a few seconds and then smiled. "No. Not that hard."
***
It has been like five hours, and we were still driving. I knew his house was far, but not this much. I was bored and had nothing to do. Axel looked like he was deep in his thoughts and I didn"t want to interrupt him.
He looked so different from the guy I knew as Rhydian. But in the same time not. I had no idea what to think for the guy next to me. Maybe the fact that I knew he was an assassin was what was changing my opinion I had for him. It made me think he was more mature for some reasons. I know it is a hard thing to do... killing people I mean, and he lived with so much responsibilities. And his past... I didn"t pity him. He didn"t need it. I just felt sorry for him. I knew what loosing someone you love means. Maybe he went through more things than me.
I sighed lightly and looked at the car. It didn"t look like an assassin was driving it. And by that, I mean I expected to be more guns and s**t like that in an assassin"s car or secret places in it where he could put his guns. Well I think I have a great imagination then.
I saw something in the car"s floor. It was my phone. Maybe it fell from my pocket when I was trying to go all agent 007 when we were being chased.
I unlocked it and my eyes widened at the missed calls. Most of them were from Daniel. Why I"m not surprised?
I rolled my eyes at that and called Daniel.
"Dylan? Where the heck have you been?" Daniel voice shouted in my ear.
"Daniel calm the f**k down! I"m okay." I answered looking at Axel whose eyes looked for one second at me and then went back to the road.
"Where are you? Why you didn"t answer the phone? People here are talking that you have been kidnapped." He said now with a calmer voice.
"I"m fine... Something... happened at school and I had to leave and you know... I won"t come back anytime soon." I said. I didn"t know if it was a good idea to tell him the truth or not. I didn"t know if it was safe.
"Eric knows about me and this whole thing." Axel said not looking at me.
"Can I talk to Eric?"
"Yeah... He... Okay. Wait a second." Daniel said, sounding a little bit disappointed.
I waited about a minuted and then I heard Erick"s voice. "Are you okay?" Was the first thing he said.
"Yeah, I"m fine." I answered. He sounded... worried.
"I"m sorry Dylan. I should have told you about this whole thing... but Mr. Andrew"s orders..." He tired to explain. A smiled formed in my lips.
"Don"t worry. I"m not mad at you. Even though I should be." I said and Eric"s laughter echoed in my ear.
"Is he taking care of you?"
"Do you think I need it?" I asked and Eric laughed again.
"No, but still... You know he..."
"Yes I know."
"What else do you know?"
"Pretty much everything." I said and smirked at the phone.
"What are you going to do now?" From the way he said it, it looked like Erick wanted to ask this question from the beginning.
"Nothing will change even if I tell you. You can"t do anything to help or stop me." I said sounding more serious than I wanted.
"So it is that serious." His voice was sad.
"Kind of. Don"t worry. I will be fine."
"Just... Be careful." My heart stopped at bit at those words.
"Just... Be careful Dylan. I love you!" My dad said to me and then left. Those would be his last words I would hear from him. The last ones.
"I will." My voice trembled a bit from the memories. I ended the call and stared at the window.
"Are you okay?" Axel asked and I looked at him. He still wasn"t looking at me.
"Yeah. I"m fine." I said. He still didn"t look at me. "You know... you shouldn"t feel ashamed of yourself for what I saw there. I have seen Eric killing people, even my dad. That doesn"t affect at me anymore. I"ve got used to it."
Finally he turned his head and looked at me. "Is he your boyfriend?"
"What?" I asked confused.
This was a little bit ridiculous. I was talking about something serious and he... I have no idea what he was talking about.
"The Daniel guy. Is he really your boyfriend?" He asked again and I was dumbfounded.
"No. Why does that matter anyway?" I asked still confused.
He smiled a little and just shook his head. "It doesn"t." He said and left it with that.
I was still thinking about what the hell he was trying to know by asking me about Daniel when he told me, we were in front his house. "We"re here."
Axel got out of the car and waited for me. We were practically in the middle of a forest. I was expecting a huge house, in fact, considering he gets paid very well for killing people, but it was more like a cabin. Like those ones in the horror movies. Maybe it looked like that because it was dark and it was in the middle of a forest, and I was here alone with an assassin. Yeah, maybe this is why it looked like that.
Axel walked towards the house and unlocked it. He walked inside it and I followed him back. It was so dark inside the house that I couldn"t even see my hand let alone anything else. I was about to take an other step when I bumped with something and felt a warm breathing in my face. I stopped immediately walking and my hand went to my gun, but an other hand grabbed mine and stopped it.
"Relax." I hear Axel"s voice, coming out from the mouth in front of my face, and my body relaxed.
And... then tensed up again. He was in my comfort zone.
I felt his hot breath hitting my face again, and my heartbeat went crazy.
WHAT THE HELL DYLAN?
His breath hit my face again, but this time it was closer and I could feel his lips so close to mines and...
And the light went on.
Didn"t really know how to feel on those moments.
A small smile appeared in his lips as his eyes were glued to mines. "Got it." He said and then walked away.
I was still in my place and then after blinking a couple of times and turned around to see the switcher of the lights right behind me. Well... good to know that.
If you thought the house would be super creepy from inside... think again. In fact it was... like my dream house. Yeah... I have a dream house. Everyone has e dream house. The place was spacious and looked like one of those VIP"s houses. Not that I am surprised. Working for CIA as an assassin means a lots of money. Everything was clean and looked perfect. This place looked simple and modern at the same time.
I"m a little bit jealous.
"We will get ready for the "killing" in the morning. You can sleep at the guests room. Don"t know why I have one, since no one knows this place." He sounded like he was talking more with himself than me.
"Okay." I simply answered.
"Do you need clothes?" He asked and I stared at the ones I was wearing and frowned. Didn"t really like the thought of sleeping on this clothes again.
"Maybe...." I said and he smirked.
"Come with me."
I followed him upstairs in his room. I really hate him for his room. It was huge and the bed was so big I swear it might feel like sleeping in clouds there. Everything was in a dark color. The walls had nothing on them, except this one in front of his bed. There were all of those pictures of so many people on it. All of them had a red cross on it. There was a desk against the wall. It was really messy with all of those files in every single corner of the desk. There were two guns as well.
"They were my targets." He said looking at me with no emotions shown in his face. "My missions."
I took one of the guns in my hand. It was a Desert Eagle. Loved that type of gun. "So... you have guns?" I smiled at him, quoting his words from the first day we met.
He smiled and nodded. "I don"t have any cloth that a female could wear, but you can borrow mines." Axel said and handed me his pajamas.
"Thanks." I said and took them in my hands.
"Your room is in end of the hall."
"Good night." I muttered and left his room.
"Good night Dylan." He answered before I left.
***
"Dad?" My voice sounded weak.
"Yes sweetheart?" Dad answered smiling at me.
"I... had a fight today at school..." I started to say. I was scared to tell him the truth... What if he gets angry with me?
His face was emotionless when he talked again. "With who?"
"With this guy... he..." I started to explain.
"Who won?" His face was still emotionless.
"No one I think... the teacher came and ended the fight and..."
"Did you punched him?"
"Yes." My voice trembled.
"Did he deserve it?" He asked again.
"Yeah I think so."
"Then I think you did right." He finally smiled and I was left dumbfounded.
"You have to fight for what you think it"s right Dylan!"
"No!!!!" I screamed so loud, it felt like someone cut my throat. That"s how much it hurt.
I was breathing heavily and was covered in cold sweats. Not the first time, but just couldn"t deal with it.
"Dylan?" Axel showed up in the room, with a gun in his hand. I gave him a puzzled look. "Sorry. Thought someone broke in and was attacking you. Are you okay?" He walked towards the bed and sat on it, next to me.
"Yeah fine. Sorry I woke you up." I muttered.
"I was awake." He said and I just stared at him.
"Why?"
"You"re not the only one who has nightmares."
