I opened my eye slowly. My head felt heavy and I couldn"t feel half of my body. The first thing I saw was the white ceiling. From what I saw, I figured out I was in a big room.
I looked in my right and saw Axel sleeping calmly next to me. His face was close to mine and I could feel his warm breath hitting my face. We must have fallen asleep. Weird... Actually I don"t fall asleep after a nightmare. This must be my first time.
Axel"s words echoed in my mind. "You"re not the only one with nightmares." He had nightmares too... I wonder about what? Maybe he sees his girlfriend going mad in his nightmares. Or the moment when he killed her. I have no idea how I would feel if I was the one who killed my dad even though it was for a good cause. I would have gone mad.
I stared at him. For the first time I had the chance to look him closely. To look at his face...
His dirty blond hair were messy and it kind of looked cute. His lips had formed a small smile. He had one of those nose that a model has. His jaw was straight and the eyes weren"t too small or too big. They were just normal.
I noticed he had thrown his arm over my waist and my leg was on his. It felt warm and I actually was comfortable. I know I shouldn"t, but I was feeling like all of this was... right?
Slowly Axel opened his eyes and looked at my face. His face was emotionless in the begging... In fact I would say he looked a little dazzled, but then the smile appeared again in his face as his blue eyes were glued at mine.
His eyes kind of reminded me the sky. That sky that has no clouds on it. I loved that sky.
I smiled lightly. This was all... strange for me. Having someone so close to you... and feeling so good... It was so strange that scared the crap out of me. I had no idea what I had to do. I always know what to do... but now... it was just impossible to know which move was the right one and which one was not.
"Hi!" His voice was low and husky.
"Hi!" I whispered and felt so confused for what was happening in my stomach. Is this normal?
None of us moved. I didn"t even want to. Suddenly his hand moved away from my waist and brushed away some hair from my face, and then went back to my waist. I, on the other hand was just staring at him, trying to keep my face emotionless.
We stood like that for I don"t know how long, when suddenly, Axel"s face frowned. "How are you feeling right now?" He asked me still whispering.
"Confused." I answered, feeling my own voice weak.
He smiled at my answer and then shook his head lightly. "We better get up."
I didn"t answer at that. I just nodded and then felt his hand moving away from me again. He got up slowly and walked out of the room. I didn"t move. I stared at the ceiling trying to process what happened but I couldn"t. I didn"t know what to think. And I have no idea why.
If I could I wouldn"t move at all, but then I remembered what was going to happen today.... I couldn"t just stay here lied down in the bed staring at the ceiling like nothing would happen. I slowly got up and changed back in my clothes.
I walked downstairs. The house looked even bigger in the daylight. The light coming from the windows was mixed with the color of the leaves of the trees outside, giving the place a peaceful color.
I searched for a while for the kitchen. My stomach was growling like a wild animal. The kitchen was huge. There was no table in it. There was just this big white counter with four chairs in its side. The sink was placed in the counter. Behind the counter were the cupboards and all the other stuff, like the microwave, the oven... The fridge was huge. Like really really huge. It looked like it was more like a wardrobe than a fridge. The windows in the end of the kitchen were big and they had an amazing view of the forest. It looked almost magical.
"Do you like the place?" I heard Axel"s voice behind my ear.
"It"s okay." I said not wanting to tell him how jealous I was that he had such an amazing place.
He smiled at me and entered the kitchen. He moved slowly to the fridge and opened its door. The freaking fridge was full. He got some stuff out of it and started to cook. I sat on one of the chairs in the side of the counter and stared at Axel as he was cooking.
"Where did your learn to cook?" I asked him curious.
"My dad was a cook. He taught me some things, before I got kidnapped, sent to jail and then turned into an assassin." He said smiling. Like that was bothering him at all.
"What happened to your parents? I mean they should have looked for you."
"They did. They found me in fact. But at the time I was in prison. They came and visited me a few times, but couldn"t do anything to get me out of there. When I accepted to be an assassin, the CIA"s people told them I had a fight in the prison and died. They gave to my parents some guy"s body like it was me. They told them that the prisoners had burnt my face during the fight." Axel explained.
"Don"t you think about quitting this job and go to them?"
"They are both dead." His voice was so cold that I felt shivers down my spine.
"H-how?"
"My mom had a car accident, and my dad died from cancer." His voice was still cold.
"Sorry. I didn"t know." I whispered.
"No problem. It happened years ago." A small smile appeared in his lips. I found myself smiling as well.
"When did it happen?" The words came out before I could keep my mouth shut.
"When I was seventeen I guess." He said like he was thinking about it.
"Wait! When you were seventeen? How old were you when you started to work like an assassin?"
"I think I was fifteen, when I was kidnapped, sent to a jail and got the job offer. I trained till I was sixteen and then got my first mission. So it has been like... four years working like an assassin."
"You are twenty years old???" I exclaimed shocked. It can"t be.
"I thought I already told you that." Axel smiled innocently.
"But you don"t look like twenty years old." I muttered... still shocked.
"Oh! Really? Thank you." He said smirking like an i***t.
"Jerk." I glared at him and he laughed at loud.
Four years working like an assassin. He must have killed all of those people...
I was still thinking when he placed a plate in front of me with pancakes. He took the other plate and placed it next to me and sat there, starting to eat.
"For whom is that?" I asked pointing to a third plate which was full of... I don"t know what.
"It"s for Bloody." He answered with his mouth full of pancakes.
"For whom?"
"My cat. Bloody."
And in those moments I heard a small miaow behind me. I turned around and saw a small kitten. It was so adorable. Its fur was orange and looked almost like red. It had blue eyes and it walked so innocently that you wouldn"t believe its owner is an assassin.
"You have a cat?" Axel nodded. "And you named it Bloody?" He nodded again. "You named a small kitten Bloody?"
"Yeah. I found it while I was killing someone and it was covered with blood. I took it with me and couldn"t find a name for it. So I decided in Bloody. Plus its fur is almost red and it is a male. It"s a cool name." He said waving his hand in the air like a madman.
He bent over and took Bloody in his hand and let it in the counter next to the plate. It started to eat slowly.
"But you barely stay here. How can it live alone in this place?"
"Firstly, I had Bloody with me back in that house, and just took it back here two days ago or so before all of this great action happened and I usually finish all my missions before the day is over, so I"m always home for dinner." He smirked and I frowned.
He didn"t look like he bothered to much for the people he kills. He acts like he has done nothing at all. This or maybe he just pretends. Maybe he pretends like that doesn"t bother him, so he won"t feel too guilty for what he does.
Whatever it was, I didn"t ask him. I wasn"t sure how he would react at that question and I didn"t want to act like a cop making question after question like I already have done. It wasn"t any of my business.
I ate my pancakes without talking anymore. Couldn"t help and look at Axel a few times while he was eating. I wanted to know what he was thinking and then again, I wasn"t sure if I really wanted to know what run in his mind.
After we were done with the breakfast, Axel took me in the basement, which apparently was the gym and the place where he kept his weapons. The basement was huge and the gym was better that the one Eric made for me. The basement was separated in two parts. The first one had all the needed equipment to exercise and train and the other part had all the guns and the place where you could shoot.
All of those weapons... all different, from all kinds. They were all placed in the wall with the ammo next to them. There was a metal table next to the wall with knives on it. I think I fell in love.
"Take you hoodie off." Axel told me with such a serious tone that, I didn"t even know if I should doubt if he was kidding or not.
"What?" I asked still not taking his words very seriously.
"Take your hoodie off." He repeated again picking a gun from the wall and walked towards me.
I took the hoodie off slowly, confused of what he was trying to do. I threw the hoodie in the metal table and just stood there like an i***t with only my black bra. And my jeans. Of course I had me jeans on.
Axel filled the gun with bullets and walked closer to me. He wasn"t talking and had a serious face. For some reasons I felt a little scared. He came so closer to me, that there was almost no space between our bodies and I would started to panic if I wouldn"t be staring at his blue eyes, which were glued to my eyes.
His arms wrapped around me and his warm hands slowly undid my bra, the cold gun, which was still in his hand, touched my skin making me shiver. My eyes widened and a small sharp breath escaped my mouth. He still had the serious face on. His arms unwrapped around my body and my eyes widened even more when I saw his hands going for my breasts. He pulled a little my bra in his direction, being careful to don"t touch my skin and then pressed the gun against my skin. My body shivered from the cold metal. He placed the gun between the edge of my bra and my breast. His arms wrapped around me again and his hands this time braced my bra.
My eyes were glued to his the whole time.
His hand went from my back to my face and touched my cheek softly. He pulled me closer to him with the arm that was still around me and pressed our bodies together.
His lips were almost touching mine. He opened his mouth and a warm breath hit my face. My heart went crazy. His eyes went to my lips.
"Just..." He started to say, his lips brushing mine while he was talking. I had to held a small moan from escaping my mouth. "Don"t think." He whispered and pressed his lips against mine, kissing me softly. I wasn"t able to think a minute ago, let alone now.
For the first two seconds I froze not knowing how to react. But then I kissed him back.
Both of his hands cupped my face pulling it closer to his as the kiss got tougher. I wrapped my hands around his neck, not being able to control myself anymore. My body was acting without taking any permission from the brain.
He bit my lower lip and I parted my lips. I felt his tongue in my mouth exploring it. Soon his lips parted from mine and went to my neck kissing it slowly. I had the argue in me to don"t moan. I didn"t want to, but it escaped my mouth. His lips come back to mine and started to kiss me again this time tougher than before, but after a while he had to back off a little to let us catch our breath.
We were both breathing heavily and he was looking me in my eyes with a small smile in his lips. My heart had gone crazy from the begging and I knew he had felt it the whole time. It still was beating fast. Why it was acting like this? It wasn"t my first kiss and my heart didn"t act like this with none of the other kisses, so why? Why now? Why with him? The kiss... Why it felt so real?
Axel pressed his forehead against mine and his smile grew bigger. My heart didn"t have in its plans to calm down. In fact, it just continued beating faster and faster.
"Just..." His voice was husky and low. "... in any case." He said. "We better get go." I finally took control over my body and managed to nod.
Axel backed off and after taking two other guns from the wall and filled them with bullets, walked out of the gym, leaving me there like a blushing s**t with a beating fast heart.
What did he mean with "just in any case"?
I shook my head like trying to shake away the thoughts. I took my hoodie and after putting it on, I walked out of the gym as well.
I had to block away all the thoughts about the kiss. They just made me blush every time I thought about it. It wasn"t a really good thing. I had to focus on the missions. But my heart wouldn"t let me. It just kept beating fast.
I took a deep breath and then let it out. After repeating this for about ten times I finally managed to calm down my heart.
"Get in the car." Axel shouted to me, his voice coming from upstairs.
I nodded even though he couldn"t see me. I picked up my backpack and was ready to leave the house. But a hand griped my wrist.
"I think it"s better if you leave it here." Axel said to me.
"But..." I started to argue.
"They will take it from you anyway, so better leave it here. I will give it back to you as soon as this is all over." He said and I nodded again. I left the backpack in the sofa in the living room and placed my phone next to it. Don"t want to break its screen or anything. I loved that phone.
We both walked out of the house and got in the car. Axel drove it outside the forest and we finally were driving in a real road.
"We have to let them get you." Axel started to say after we had about fifteen minutes driving in the highway.
"I know." I wasn"t looking at him. I was scared that if I did, I would start blushing again.
"They don"t know you are an agent... or that I am an assassin, so try to keep it like that." He said and I nodded.
Axel fixed the mirror and stared something in it, or better say glared at it. I turned my head to see what he was glaring at.
It was a black van behind us.
"It is following us." Axle stated.
"We don"t know it for sure." I said, not really sure about it.
As soon as I finished the sentence, a shoot noise filled the air.
"What were you saying?" Axel smirked at me and I gave him my best death glare.
I was about to open the window and shoot at the van like I did with that car from two days ago. "No! Don"t." Axel stopped me.
"Why?" I asked confused but a little pissed off.
"We have to let them get you." He said staring at the road.
"But we can"t just stop the car and let them come to us. They will doubt." I glared at him.
"Don"t worry I will think something." He said, but he looked like he didn"t even bother to think about any plan. "They will kill me after they get you. They don"t need me..."
My heard pained at the words.
What the hell was that? Why I felt like that? I didn"t want him to die.
"But... what are we going to do then?" I asked trying to don"t sound worried.
"I have to die before they get me." He smirked.
"You already had a plan?" I asked at him, but it sounded more like I stated it.
"Yes."
I looked at the van. They shoot towards us again, breaking the glass of the back of the car.
"Do you trust me?" Axel asked out of the blue, still staring at the road.
Don"t trust anyone Dylan. Do you hear me? Anyone. Dad"s voice echoed in my head. I didn"t trust anyone. Not even Eric. I cared about him, and would compare him with a big brother or such a thing, but still I couldn"t say I really trusted him. I couldn"t trust anyone. In my life everyone lies. Eric lied to me, Axel as well. Damn, he just lied to me a minute ago. How could I trust him?
"Dylan! Do you trust me?" This time he looked me in my eyes.
The warm feeling I had when we were lying in the bed, came to my mind. How good it felt... how safe... And then I remembered the kiss... How real it felt...
"Dylan!!!"
"I do." I answered not thinking more about it. I found myself not giving a s**t if he would disappoint me later, if he would lie to me or not. In those moments.... I trusted him.
As soon as I admitted to him that I trusted him, a smile appeared in his face which slowly turned into a smirk as he pressed a button in the wheel, in the exact moment a bullet flew towards us. Before I could realize anything, the car went out of control and collapsed in the road. I hit the head against the window a couple of times. The blood, coming out of a cut in my head, ran down in my forehead slowly.
My eyes felt heavy and I couldn"t keep them open anymore, but I tried to fight them.
Two hands pulled me out of the car roughly. "She is alive sir." I heard a male talking and then nothing.
I tried to open my eyes again. I saw the car collapsed in the road and an arm coming out of the car"s window, lying in road lifeless, covered in blood.
"The boy?" Someone walked towards the arm and pushed it away with his foot. "The boy is dead sir."
My eyes shut, not being able to stay open anymore.
