The beach house was fun
Amelia's definition of fun usually involved doing one scary thing to another. Don't get me wrong—I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone once in a while, but it was nice to not have my life flash in front of my eyes.
“Thank you for inviting us to the beach house, by the way,” Annie said.
“Yeah, babe. It was beautiful not to do something life-threatening,” I added.
They burst into laughter.
“But guys!!,it can't have been that bad, right?”
“Said by the very person who screamed her lungs off when we went bungee jumping." I pointed that out. She scared the hell out of us.
“But, it's all for fun and memories. What's the point of always playing it safe? One day, you'll thank me for dragging your sorry asses out of your homes”.
That part was entirely true.I can assure you that I'm not out often enough for you to bump into me in public, but at least I was a thousand times better than Annie.
“But who were those guys who stuck together like glue? It was like everybody's eyes were glued to them.”
Annie was never one to miss things, so there was no way she would've overlooked those men. They looked like they'd been sent from heaven.
“Oh, they're my boss's friends,” Amelia said nonchalantly.
“Your boss………proposed right?"
I had to ask so I could distinguish him from that particular man in the group who kept shooting daggers at me with his eyes.
“Yup,” she continued. “Beck was the shortest one there. He owns several gyms and spas .
“Adrian, my personal favorite, is a tech entrepreneur. His family has been in business for generations, and he oversees everything related to technology and security. He's also the hottest.”
No wonder that he had the audacity and confidence to stare at me like that.
“And you never told me that you knew them? I could've landed some potential clients already,”I teased Amelia, but I low-key, meant it.
“Slow down there babe. These are just things that I've heard from colleagues at the firm.”
“Oh, that's why I thought they looked familiar. They also own De La Cruz luxury hotel, right?” Annie asked.
“Yup. It's a joint business between them, and my boss is their lawyer”.
So I spent the weekend with people with that much influence, and I didn't even exchange a few words or build a connection with them . My boss would've been especially pleased with me.
“Well, that sounds like a missed opportunity for me. I hope they don't bother you at work?”
“Nope, they aren't in New York, and I barely see them at the firm”
The vehicle pulled up at my apartment and I couldn't have been happier to be home. There was just something comfortable about returning to your own space. The girls helped me carry my bags inside, and we said our goodbyes.
I’d miss them, but I was also looking forward to enjoying my peace and quiet till it was
time to go back to work _or hang out with them
